Yikes. Just buy whey protein and make your own meal replacement for 1/5 the price. Don't know how you can justify charging such a ridiculous price as this. I guess it's easy targeting people trying to lose weight who don't know any better.

      Very interested

Which whey protein?, how much? And how do you make your own meal replacement for 1/5 the price thanks?

Combine some whey concentrate (no need for isolate) and Xg powdered oats (I run 100g oats at the moment but sometimes up to 150g, but I'm a fairly maxed out body, strength wise). Powdered oats, which can be had from bulk nutrients, or better still, from myprotein. Powdered oats are delicious and instantly mix into water. I wouldn't recommend powdering your own oats unless you've got a very good machine to do it, I was researching getting one until I discovered myprotein's price on oats and then it seemed pointless.

It should be noted that in the past, a lot of these MRPs are using maltodextrin to boost the carb content (which can be had for peanuts), too. Since the product on the deal doesn't really do a good job of explaining what is in it, I can't comment on it specifically - though I'd say, I also wouldn't buy it.

At that point, you've got your protein and your carbs, you only need combine whatever vitamins you feel like adding. I run all sorts of snake oil in that regard, but if you want to hit your basics, you'd probably be after a greens powder and a bit of fish oil.

To give you a bit of context, even with myprotein's rubbish 30% off right now, you're getting 5kg powdered oats for $12.60, which even for my large amount of oats equates to 25c a serve.

I generally do 50g myprotein blueberry cheesecake, which is currently very cheap at 70$ for 5kg (with discount) or 70c a serve.

So now we're at 95c for the protein and carbs, spend a bit of money on vitamins and you're good (and a 50g protein/100g carb drink is pretty substantial for a regular person). Buy some vitamin c, some fish oil and some green powder (I use expensive probable full of snakeoil vital greens, but there are cheaper options).

As for quantities to put in to your drink, a good starting point is maybe 40g whey concentrate (to make 30g ish protein) and 50g instant oats. If you live an active lifestyle and gym a fair bit, you might find that you can increase that. You're not going to get fat from that drink, that's for sure.

One final edit: I was not the person who said you could do it for 1/5 of the price, so please spare me your calculations, should you desire to argue with that guy. The MRP on this deal has 23g of protein and 33g of carbs, if you're keen to compare. Remember that 50g of 75-80%ish whey is ~37.5g protein and oats are 62% carbs (ie 62g carbs for me in 100g).

        • How do you mix it? A bucket?

          • @AusEntStudent: Easily fits a full sized shaker (including the water I put in). Even at 150g of oats, it fits.

            • @f23lda: Thanks, I was thinking you made a batch. I'll start making my own in a shaker rather than buying the mixed end product.
