  • You beat me to it :)
    Just got the email

    I bought during discounts in Feb. My 2nd Lenovo…love it to bits:)

    Dont forget the $1 accessories…

  • anyone know what's happened to the Y series? was looking for a y570 but can't find it on their web-site.

    • Ditto, but I think they're discontinued :(

      "This product is no longer available for purchase on lenovo.com."

      (after following link to y570)

    • can anyone recommend me a better deal than the Y570- 0862MDM for $900?

      i7 2nd Gen, 8Gb ram, 555M 2Gb graphics. 15inch, USB 3.0 ports.

      • I have seen the Lenovo in store (Centrecom) for around $850, but not on their website. A similar spec'ed laptop is the Asus n53sv (was $900 @ centrecom). Pretty much the same graphics despite the model difference (gt540 vs gt555), from what I understand there is didily squat of performance difference.

        Just had a look at MSYs notebook pdf (http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/notebook.pdf) last page is what you are interested in; has the asus, lenovo + more

        • thanks for that.. I was under the impressions the gt555 was better than the gt540, i was hoping to play BF3 on medium graphics.

          ASUS vs Lenovo is there much difference?

        • +1

          "Pretty much the same graphics despite the model difference (gt540 vs gt555), from what I understand there is didily squat of performance difference."

          umm no.

          GT555 > GT540

          @CVonv,

          What you have pointed out is ONLY HALF correct.

          Just to confuse everybody, there are 2 (actually more, but don't care about the others) versions of the GT555m;

          • 1gb
          • 2gb

          at first you would think 'meh, just more and less memory', but alas it is not so.
          To compare;
          - 2gb GT555m, core configuration is 144(pixel shaders):24:16, which is the one you referred to in the link
          - 1gb GT555m, core configuration is 96(pixel shaders):16:4 <- this is what's in the Lenovo y570
          and guess whats coming next…. :)
          - 1gb GT540m, core configuration is 96(pixel shaders):16:4 <- this is what's in the Asus n53sv

          note how the numbers on the 1gb GT555m are the same as the 1gb GT540m, I wonder what that could mean? ;)

          Now, bearing in mind everything I have said above, the 1gb GT555m is still the better performer (than the 1gb GT540m) because it is clocked slightly higher (750mhz vs. 670mhz). The result is about 10% higher performance (from what I've researched)

          So to correct your statement;
          GT555m = GT540m x 1.1

          Correct me if I am wrong, this is merely the summation of my understanding and research into these two laptops as I, like thierry, was looking into this price/spec point.

        • thanks CyberGenesys for the info.

          So the 2Gb 555M would be much better.. so the lenovo y570 MDM looks the winner.. if i can my hands on one :)

        • @thierry.

          Definitely. For an extra $50-100 why wouldn't you :)

          To be honest, I'm not a (PC) gamer so I don't know what is required to run modern games. My process of buying a laptop is decide how much I want to spend and get the best I can for that much. In that respect, the Lenovo y570 is very good value.

          FYI, MSY have the y570-0862MDM for $889

          @CVonV
          Actually what you said is correct, I didn't even realise theirry specifically mentioned the 2gb model in previous post :)

  • This one looks good

    The higtlight is 128G SSD. but the downside is none of USB3.0 port. if pay extra $100 will get a internal WWAN module

    • +1

      i3-2367M ULV = ultra slow.
      But you get super battery life!

  • Can anyone recommend anything to consider with SSD as oppposed to the Toshy z830 i5 128g SSD?

  • Ordered one over $700 but only 10% applies. How do we get them to fix it?

    • It looks like >$599 - 5%, >$700 - 10%, instead of 10% and 15%. Is that error from Lenovo, or error from OP ?

    • Yup I made a order for over $1200 and it only did 10% too…

  • is the t420 still a good deal?
