              • @abcdefcuk: I have the 65" A90J and it's $4999 and way more expensive than a C1…
Also to note my old C9 is actually brighter than a C1 with some saying the A80J and C1 are too dim….
If your inclined to watch during the day in a well-lit room like Sports I'd go the Samsung qn90a all day long

              • +1

@abcdefcuk: A90j is the best for everything except gaming, I wouldn't look at that Samsung, that's the old one.

The QN900A is the more relevant comparison. It's pricey but 8k.

Consider the HDMI ports as well, the C1 has 4 2.1.

                • +1

@GTR12: The Sony has 2x HDMI 2.1 and I'm betting not many own both a PS5 and XBSX anyway.
If you have a PS5 it doesn't do VRR or Dolby Vision gaming that the C1 has over Sony…
btw Dolby Vision gaming is a total farce looking much worse and dim compared to regular HDR

                  • @[Deactivated]: An OzB user doesn't buy for now only, what if the PS5 gains the ability to VRR? or they introduce DV?

Or there's some new devices that use HDMI 2.1, but you don't have any ports left to use?

Do you just throw it away?

                    • @GTR12: The Sony A80J/A90J and even the X95J are way better with their XR processor..its not even close comparing to LG for picture processing and upscaling..
So I would say Sony better overall if your someone who watches a lot of TV and movies also and not just gaming….
BTW you can but a HDMI 2.1 splitter on Amazon for $30

                      • +1

@[Deactivated]: "way better" is definitely subjective - my parents have the A80J and I have a C1 and I cannot tell the difference for HD/4K, they're both near perfect

                        • @lachhelix: If your someone who doesn't get their TV professionally calibrated then Sony's are more accurate out of the box….
Reality creation is exceptional in upscaling and bring out fine detail in low resolution content like free to air TV we have here in Australia at 720p/1080i…
I noticed the difference immediately and the motion is unbeatable

                          • @[Deactivated]: Yeah that may be it, I definitely do not watch terrestrial TV lol

                            • @lachhelix: If you have any appreciation for accuracy in movies and content the Sony's are better out the box without a professional calibration

    • +1

Tough competition but I will go with X90J, if User experience (Google OS only one remote and heaps of apps including VPN apps) is preference and QN90A only if I have an android box or apple tv in addition to a Samsung Q series soundbars which will enhance the audio experience using inbuilt tv speakers

      • +1

Thank you for that respond. I do not have any of the android box, apple tx or even external soundbars and dont intend on acquiring any of these. As for my budget at the moment, A90J is definitely out of the question. I could stretch further for C1 at this price here but would probably be more comfortable at the mid 2Ks (given initial budget is only $2K), however seeing responses here. I'm probably better suit to only the X90J or QN90A / C1 if i could find a few more bobs :)

        Thanks!

        • +1

I picked a 55X90J for $1525(10% discount code + giftcards) as I desperately needed a TV. So far I am very happy with it. I would say you will not be disappointed if you went with either the C1 or X90j! Both are very very good !

        • Honestly, I watched a lot of YouTube videos reviewing/comparing the C1 and A90J, and while the A90J is the better TV, it's not worth the price increase against the C1 - this is the conclusion of all the reviewers I watched. You can check out the comparisons for yourself as well.

But, either way, I definitely recommend you go OLED - you'll never go back.

          • @the shadow: Yeah but the A80J is definitely worth the price difference

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: According to most reviewers … still no. The C1 is the best value TV of 2021 and is the clear winner against both the A80J and A90J (especially for gamers).

              • @the shadow: If you use your TV as an actual TV for movies, sports and general viewing and not as a gaming monitor the Sony A80J/A90J are a better choice…..
If your cheap and just play console games yep go the C1….
                Both the Sony's have 2x HDMI 2.1 ports for 4k at 120Hz

              • @the shadow: If your really serious about gaming your probably doing that on a beefy PC rig at 200+ fps on a 200+ hz monitor not a kids console

                • @[Deactivated]: I'm not sure if you're a Sony shill but you seem to take everything so personally. XD;

I just gave my two cents. I do think the LG C1 (especially on sale) is a much better value purchase over the Sony OLEDs. That's all.

I'm only a casual gamer who watches movies more. But I still bought the 83" C1. Yeah, I'm "cheap". ;)

                  • @the shadow: If your a gamer that's playing Call of Duty or Warzone hoping the C1 will get ya more kills it's not going to happen…
PC master race are running framerates and refresh rates that those on console and TV's can only dream about…heck there's 360Hz monitor's out there..
My Sony A90J has 8.3ms input lag at 120Hz the C1 is 6ms..so no perceptible difference there

                  • @the shadow: 83" C1 is fantastic value btw..much more affordable than the 83" A90J..lol

    • +3

Those are LCD, OLED is better in just about every way.

  • Yea I got mine with eBay gift card cashback etc came to 2731 shipped with last promo and happy as can be

  • This or Samsung 65 QN90A for $2659 at samsung edu w/ free shipping?

    • +1

OLEDs are the best compared to any other screens
Sony tries to match the quality using their processors on non-OLED models, but out of box screens are preferable to processors

      • +1

        So basically OLED > QLED

        • +1

          Yes mate

          • +1

            @hellboi: I'm not a gamer, mainly using tv for movies/youtube/netflix etc… I like 55" . What you recommend?

    • +5

OLED over any Samsung TV any day of the week.

      • +1

It depends on your room and viewing conditions.
If it's a bright room or you watch content during the day like Sports then 1600nits on a Samsung is preferable over an Oled..
I know many that have been left unimpressed with Oleds that are too dim especially if your coming from an LCD..if your use to Plasma's then Oled's are a nice upgrade sure

    • +1

Thanks guys, looks like C1 it is. Just can't believe I'm getting a $3000 tv for a PS5 that I don't have yet hahaha

      • I’ll sell you one.

      • -1

        You don't really need a C1 for PS5…
The PS5 doesn't do Dolby Vision gaming or have VRR

        • +2

Those aren't close to the only reasons to buy this TV/PS5. The C1 is one of the best all round TV's you can buy right now and arguably no better tv for a PS5, VRR /DV or not.

          • @Burnzie86: The Samsung qn90a has lower input lag than C1 and the Sony's have 2x HDMI 2.1 and way better processor for upscaling free to air content ..
Dolby vision gaming is broken and looks much worse than regular HDR…
The C1 is super dim in SDR gaming like Nintendo or Fortnite with no way to increase peak brightness in game mode…..
The Sony's XR processor is far superior to LG's and upscales free to air TV content beautifully 👌

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: Nobody listen to this guy. It’s a well known fact the C1 is hands down the best gaming tv at the moment. Are you some Sony fan boy or something?
The Sony doesn’t even have variable refresh rate
              The c1 has gsync?

              https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c1-oled-vs-sony-a…

              • @Dshaw: The problem with that comment is almost no one uses a TV just for gaming…
                There's a reason Sony a90j won King of TV'S 2021 and best TV overall….
It's a crapshoot with panel lottery on LG'S with no QC like Sony…
Sony are more accurate out of the box and a professional calibration will cost you a hefty sum..
If your a serious gamer you be hitting 200+ fps on 360hz PC monitor not a console and TV

  • +2

I hope the G1 goes on sale like the C1…

    • I'm waiting for a G1 sale too.

    • If anything it's gone up. Looks like $500 more than it was yesterday.

  • Is this too small for a 3m viewing distance? It seems the recommended size for 3m (for a 4K TV) is 80” which seems excessive!

    • I'm 3m away from mine - imo 77 would have been better (if it wasn't so much more expensive) but 65 is just fine

    • I thought recommended size is 55" for such a short distance?

    • +2

The other way of looking at it is at 3 metres, I don't think the 77 inch is too big BUT I've got a 65 at roughly the same distance and it's great.

In an alternative universe where 77 was the same price, I'd go the 77.

    • I wish I got 77", but when I got mine they were $8000.

  • What's peeps thoughts on OLEDs for sports viewing? I have a b7 and C9 and find motion blur an issue for sports.

    • Really? My C9 is great for NBA. Not on Kayo though. Although haven't tried it with the new native app now

      • Soz….typo meant C8

  • play them off against each other? they are effectively the same company now

    • Plus TGG might match the JB price, but would not beat it. Play over.

  • Your move Harvey Norman

    • +2

I’m still waiting for mine from Harvey Norman bought during Black Friday.

    • +3

Na Gerry won’t do it , he is too busy cutting the staff hours and underpayment and getting Job keepers payments from taxpayers money..

  • +1

What happened to the 77” was waiting on that to come back into stock the 83” cost too much

  • This or TCL 75" Mini-LED C825 for basically the same price?

    • +6

      lol

    • The x925 is the competitor.

    • Definitely TCL

  • +2

In before comment about moving couch forward.

  • Someone got this for $2600 at TGG paying cash with delivery on black friday.

  • LG C1 at $2888 or Samsung QN90A at $2795? Bright room and will use mainly for Sports and Netflix. XBox One is used occasionally.

  • I have a 10y old Sony Bravia and it can't play some files from USB stick - it can happily play x264 files but less certain with others.. Do all new make TVs like the C1 have a broader range of files that it supports? thanks in advance

    • +1

Yep. They can play anything I throw at it. Not sure it'll play my real audio videos tho

    • Have you ever heard of Plex?

  • Has LG improved on the banding issue with the CX?

    • You mean the banding issue that you can barely produce on content?

      • ^ I watch a hell of a lot of TV and I've never noticed any banding

      • Well this was unacceptable for me.

        https://oled-banding-sux.imgbb.com/

        • That sir is a faulty TV and not a widespread issue.

          • @serpserpserp: Noted and agree.

However LG told me if they replaced my set with another and the issue remains, tough luck as banding is an inherit issue with OLED.

            So I replaced the 65" CX with a 75" Sony X95H.

            • @Heracles: Weird, I know 4 people with LG OLEDs from C7 to CX and same size and no banding.

              • @serpserpserp: Apparently 65" CX's were problematic at times with banding, poor QC.

  • What do people think my chances are for getting the 77" for under $5k like the previous JB black Friday deals? I see they don't even list the 77" as a product they stock anymore. Moving house in early Feb and my current TV has burnout spots so looking to splurge a little on a new TV. Viewing distance will be about 2.5-3m at the new place. 65" would be fine I feel but me and my partner kind of like the idea of having a 77" - would just come down to price. But at this point, not sure if we cut our losses on the 77" and get a good deal on the 65" - Thoughts?

    • What brand is the burnout TV if you don’t mind me asking ?

      Thanks

      • Can't get the exact model right now but I believe it is one of those Samsung 4k LED UHD TV's. I purchased it maybe 5 or so years ago. It was under $1000 and for the time to get a 4K TV I thought it was a decent choice, but you get what you pay for so looking for better quality on my next TV,

    • If you wait til March/April just before 2022 models arrive the 77" C1 will be dirt cheap…

      • JB have re-added the 77" to their site so yeah might be a chance for a good deal on the 77". Guess it's just determining if the new lounge space will be overkill with a 77"

  • What’s the chances this would fit in the car I’m guessing almost 0. Home delivery only

  • I'm waiting for a G1 to go on sale somewhere. Might be waiting for a while.but wait I will!

  • Appliance Central has this now for $2870 with free shipping

    https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/oled65c1ptb-lg-65-inch-4…

    • Just a heads up the 65" LG C1's are all pretty much on backorder everywhere so you will have a long wait unless you get lucky and your local store miraculously has inventory

      • Appliance Central is saying 5-7 days on backorder. Do you think it will be longer than this?

        • Appliance Central won't ship to my location so no idea

  • +1

Well I have to say I'm a Little underwhelmed at the boxing Day deals on OLED TVs.I was so Close to pulling the trigger on the GG eBay deal Black Friday. LG C1.
But being a tightarse I thought hang out until boxing Day deals and it'll be even better.
Have a Hisense 75 qled, and nothing wrong with it. So thought I'll wait until the right deal comes up.
Now I sit Here with my D in my hand and will likely wait until March
    April at best!
Life goes On! But would be better with an OLED on the wall.
    Just sayin'
