    This or the Sony A80J 65" https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/164945024930?epid=7048513470&has…
    for $500 more?

    • I recently bought an LG C1 - which uses WebOS obviously. I also have a Sony X95H - which uses Google TV (technically Android but I digress).

Had I known that WebOS was going to be such a dog I would've happily paid $500 more for Google TV. WebOS is insanely bad by comparison.

How LG think it's acceptable the have a laggy interface on a current model TV I don't know. Fantastic picture quality, terrible software.

      • +4

        You use inbuilt software? LOL

        • +2

I don't have any free hdmi ports so yeah.

I've got a spare CCWGTV though so I'm tossing up the idea of using a splitter for the game consoles. Do you know if they are any good?

          • @bataleon: lol free hdmi ports?

ever heard of a hdmi switch? you can literally have 5x more ports

            • -1

@neosin: Yes you can literally buy a HDMI 2.1 splitter on Amazon for $30…LMFAO

            • @neosin: Any brand recommendations?

      • +10

Why would you pay $500 more for Android when you could buy an AppleTV or Shield for half that and get a far better experience than either TV OS?

        • +2

Many people I am sure would agree with you, but for others Google TV will do everything they want/need and that is one less device and more importantly remote to manage.

          • @Aureus: The problem with using the TV OS is it does what you want it to… until it doesn’t. Eg, a new streaming service launches and your particular model of TV doesn’t get the app released quickly etc. I think until recently WebOS was missing apps for a few major services (eg Kayo.)

I’ve never once been left wanting for an app for my ATV4K. Even the extra remote can be sidestepped if you have an iPhone as you can fully control an ATV with your phone.

      • +8

Just buy an Apple TV 4k. The tv should just be about panel quality, not software features.

        • +12

Get C1 over A80j, even at same price.
C1 and A80j has same panel, however, LG has much more features.
eg 4 HDMI 2.1 vs 2 HDMI 2.1, better VRR implementation.
You are right. software shouldn't be a big consideration when selecting TV. And also LG webos is not terribly bad.

          • -5

@Mandalorians: If your one of the luck few that has both an XBSX and PS5 then go the C1….but I'm assuming there's not many out there needing 4x HDMI 2.1 ports…lol
My Sony has 8.3ms of input lag vs 6ms on C1 at 120Hz practically no perceptible difference …
I have a Sony A90J..the XBSX and Sound bar in HDMI 2.1 ports and a Switch Oled in a regular port no issue's…
you can literally purchase a HDMI 2.1 splitter on Amazon for $30 to add more HDMI 2.1 ports…LMFAO

            • +3

@[Deactivated]: Hdmi 2.1 is just an example.
There are other Gaming features what C1 provides over A80j, for example:
1.C1 supports HGiG, which A80J doesn't. Sony provided auto tone mapping for PS5 but performance not great either.

2.C1 support 4k 120hz with Dolby Vision/Gaming low latency mode.
A80j only support 4k 60hz with Dolby Vision/ALLM low latency model or 120hz without them.

3.C1 has VRR support, but A80j hasn't provided a proper one.

4.C1 has FreeSync and GSYNC support, but A80j doesn't.

So those features couldn't be easily fixed and should be considered when select between C1/A80j.
For gamers, C1 is ultimate TV for 2021.
For movies, A80j picture is slightly better.

              • @Mandalorians: Dolby Vision gaming is a total farce and inferior to regular HDR.Im getting only 400 nits DoVi on my CX with XBSX and it looks too dim
If your a gamer thinking a C1 is going to get ya more kills in CoD your dreaming…
PC gamers are getting 200+ framerates and there's 360hz monitors out there with display ports….

          • +2

@Mandalorians: Same panel but worse processer. Sony's processer is king this year with it's reality creation and upscaling. Side by side the A80J has a better picture quality with a more lifelike pop to images. If all you care about it is movies/TV shows then A80J is the better buy. Any gaming mixed in then C1 is better.

            • -8

              @Barnzy: Exactly man…
If you are that serious about gaming your not gaming on a TV and a kids console..LMFAO

              • +2

@[Deactivated]: Yeah I’m sure gaming on an average 27” IPS screen is heaps better…

                • -2

@davef: If your using a desktop gaming PC and your face is literally inches away from the screen you definitely don't want to be turning your head just see what's on the screen…
When TV's include display ports and 144hz panels then 'real' gamer's and not console kids will take note…
Battlefield 2042 players on PS5 are still limited 60hz and 16ms input lag on their C1's.

            • +1

@Barnzy: ‘Lifelike pop’ sounds like vague and subjective sales talk. The PQ differences are minimal in practice between the two.

              • @davef: I have both a C9 and Cx,had a C1 and returned it and now have the Sony A90J….
The Sony is indeed definitely worth it and my C9 is brighter than both the Cx and C1…
LG's have essentially released the same Oled 3 year's running with the C9 still the better choice

                • @[Deactivated]: How much did you pick up your A90J for?

                  • @JHoliday: $4999 but if I waited I would of got the 77" A80J for $5888

      • +3

Did you peel the plastic off the back of the C1? Very hard to see it so a lot of people miss it. It traps a lot of heat in.

      • What a bloke (I digress).

      • +1

I have the same TV. LG C1 and have been using it as the main TV for a while. I've never had any issues with software and run multiple native apps on it (Netflix, Disney, Amazon). In fact, I'm pretty impressed with it.

        • Yeah my C1's WebOS is bug free and actually quite enjoyable to use. A few key remote buttons missing for my liking but the OS is solid.

      • I had the B8 before upgrading to the C1 and the older WebOS was much faster and responsive than the current one

      • Not sure what's wrong with your OS but mine is slick. Fast, responsive and no lag at all.

    • +3

Take this however you like but my parents have the Sony and I have one of these and I don't notice any huge differences, they're both great TVs, I probably wouldn't pay an extra $500 bucks for the Sony unless there was a specific reason why you wanted it

      • -6

If you get a Sony you just saved yourself $500 on a soundbar because the built-in sound is better than most mid-range soundbars

        • Downward firing speakers sound better than most mid-range soundbars? 🤣🤣🤣 Well, if you wear a hearing aid, then… uhhh, still no 🤦🏻‍♂️

There's a reason soundbars exist and it's not just to have another piece of tech sitting around. If you mentioned low-end/off-brand soundbars you might have had a valid point, but as great as the C1 speakers are on my 65", the Bose 300 soundbar I have attached blows the stock speakers away.

          • -1

            @KangaDrew: I wasn't talking about the C1.
The Sony A90J I was referring too and the whole screen is the speaker and can be used as a centre channel. It's on a whole other level to LG's.I have the C9 and Cx and yes the sound quality is awful compared to Sony's…🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
BTW I have the Bose 900 and the A90J is right there in terms of bass and clarity. The Bose 300 Soundtoucg is old asf and is pretty mediocre with no Atmos so that tells you how bad LG'S speaker's are…LMFAO

            • @[Deactivated]: I didn't say it was a Soundtouch. I have the Bose Smart Soundbar 300.

              • -1

@KangaDrew: Lg sound quality suck what's your point?
I said Sony not LG 🤷‍♂️
BTW Soundbars on the whole are pretty meh unless paired with separate subs and additional speakers driving the cost well over a $1000.
A simple standalone sounbar like the one you have is garbage with poor reviews anyway..LMFAO 🤦‍♂️

    • This or the Sony A80J 65" https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/164945024930?epid=7048513470&has…
      for $500 more?

Sony seconds is only $40 more, with free delivery all states (Bing Lee is only in NSW).

    • -7

Sony A80J if you appreciate movies, sports and general viewing more than playing on a kids console

    • +2

Hey mate, I've got the A80J and love it to pieces but if I were in your shoes right now I'd 100% pull the trigger on the LG C1. That price is amazing and honestly I don't think there's much in it. People will harp on about the OS, movies looking better on the Sony or VRR working on the LG but if you're coming from an old LED/LCD panel then just going to a top dog OLED like either of of these you'll be super happy. You definitely won't have any regrets joining the OLED club (assuming your not already part of it).

      • Some find Oled's too dim especially coming from an LCD rather than a Plasma….
The Sony has better sound for those without a soundbar and better out of the box accuracy, motion and processing….
You get an LG C1 its essentially the same as a previous CX or C9 with a gimmick game bar no one uses

  • +1

    Aaaand it’s oos?

    • 2nd, but hey, people had 30m, gotta keep a sharp eye for these.

  • deal is already out. no more stock :(
    rip

  • Damn out of stock already :(

  • I've only just found out that tvs need calibrating, according to rtings the c1 is badly pre calibrated compared to the Sony a90j or the Samsung qn90a. How important is this calibration thing??

    • -3

Essentially if you buy an LG they need a professional calibration. The fact you even know what a calibration is you would be far more impressed with a Sony that's more accurate out of the box..lol

  • If you're a movie buff I'd suggest the Sony OLED lineup

    • +4

If you're a movie buff, you should be begging Panasonic to start selling OLEDs again here.

      • +2

Yes plz bring back Panasonic 🙏

    • So you'd say the a80j over the c1 and the qn90a? For movies n TV anyway

    • Such a shame it doesn't have 4 HDMI 2.1. yes I could make it work with a switch or even through my sound bar but I'd really rather just have 4 ports and plug both my consoles and sound bar directly in.

      • People are struggling to find even one next-gen console so for the most part 2x HDMI 2.1 ports is enough for many….
And yes if your one of those that has both a PS5 and XBSX plugged into the TV at the same time get a C1

        • Depends on how long you are going to keep it - if you are thinking 5-10 years then you know at some point you will have both so might be worth C1 too.

          • -3

            @Geoff-bargain: That Oled ain't lasting 10 year's.lol..your looking at 3-5 year's and QD-Oled and Micro-Led technology is almost here….
You can buy HDMI 2.1 splitters on Amazon that give you more port's.
P.S. if you can get 10 years out of an LG your doing extremely well..theses aren't PANASONIC Plasma's or Sony's..lol

  • You can tell the people who missed out on deals, they try talk shit because deep down they are cut they missed it. 🤣

    • -4

      Did you get a C1?
Run a screen uniformity test off YouTube and let me know how you go

      • I do, and I have. Not terrible. Not great.

But it is far the best tv for picture quality I have ever owned.
        Whats the point to this?

My brother has a Sony A80J. He was far more impressed with the LG.

        Each to their own.

        • I was just curious because I returned one recently as had a few dead pixels and vertical lines on panel..apparently after doing quite a bit of research it's common on the LG C1's…
Sony are better quality controlled and my A90J is flawless. The Sound is actually better in the TV than my Bose soundbar that I paid $1000 for too

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: For someone who had those issues, and with all the knowledge you seem to have about Sony, its hard to believe you even bought an LG to begin with.

            • @iNeed2Pee: I still have my 65" C9 and 55" CX both I got professionally calibrated so I'm not going to bother selling them just yet

            • @iNeed2Pee: If you don't care about accuracy and PQ that much the C1 is a good deal if you manage to snag a clean panel…but that has proved too difficult in my case

              • @[Deactivated]: I mean its a lottery though. I have mates with the G1 that has worse banding than mine.

Theres affects the viewing, mine is only noticeable when its on a loading screen at maybe 4% grays.

Even then, its only noticeable because I stumbled upon a review of a Sony A1 lol.

I've had bad experiences with Sony in the past, hence why I went with LG this time.

Goes a long way when you have shitty customer service for previous faulty products.

                • +1

@iNeed2Pee: Yeah its definitely a panel lottery this year.
Well I'm glad you got a decent one

  • BACK IN STOCK NOW!!

    Just picked one up :D

    • Ditto, had a hunch it would come back in stock, so I kept refreshing the page.

  • -1

It's not that cheap specifically for boxing day it was similar price before as well anyway sony oled is the way to go for quality and customer service support.

    • +1

You might be thinking of the 55". This is the cheapest the 65" has been. Previous cheapest was BF deal at $2888.

      • Mate of mine just picked up one from JBHIFI here in Adelaide for $2700 with a 5 year warranty. Much prefer going through them instead of an ebay seller.

        • Are you able to ask him to upload the receipt can try matching Jb hifi locally ..your help will be greatly appreciated

        • An in-person/'on the spot' deal isn't the same as an advertised one, so this is currently the cheapest advertised deal. Plus this is Bing Lee's eBay store, although if it's possible to get it price matched at JB, I'd rather purchase it in-store also. I'm still happy with my 65" C1 @ $2450, but at this price, it's still a no brainer either way.

  • Will JB hifi price match ebay store?

    • It's possible given it's a sitewide discount, but you have to factor in delivery cost ($40).

    • The Good Guys price matched eBay a few times for me

    • JB Hurstville I went to would not price match it.

      • Same I'm in Parramatta and they refused it

  • Don't suppose anyone screenshot the price? (for 28D price protection)

  • +3

Excludes places that people want to live

  • Pulled the trigger. 40 delivery fee.
    Delivery by 7/Jan

  • Anyone able to price match with JB hifi please share receipt. Thanks

  • Hows the reliability of the C1? Anyone had it stuff up yet?

    • +1

There's good ones and bad ones..LG has practically no QC this year and its a crapshoot to get a clean panel

  • Nice deal - I bought the 2788 deal from Good Guys Ebay on Black Friday.
I used GEForce Now on it yesterday (a native app!) which was quite cool to play a few games on it with a PS4 controller (also xBox controller works) whilst the kids occupied all the PCs - surprisingly good!

  • -2

    Back up to $2995.

    • You need to apply the promo code. I just got one and it worked fine 😊

      • +1

        Duh. Thanks mate!

  • Comparing it to JB at $2888+59 delivery which has a 2.5yrs extended warranty… but with a mth scheduled backorder…. This is a hard decision

    • Mate of mine just picked up one from JBHIFI here in Adelaide for $2700 with a 5 year warranty. Much prefer going through them instead of an ebay seller.

Not sure if its backorder or not.

      • :o would he share his receipt with us please?

      • How? Is any chance you have a receipt?? JB hifi in nsw refused to price match and the cheapest they can do is 2850.

  • Apologies if this is a very naive question but does Nintendo switch qualify as gaming.. As a family we play mario cart quite a lot . Would that benefit from the c1? i bought one anyway so not a deal breaker ( delivered by jan 10) - just interested. thanks in advance

    • +1

The only benefit you get from the c1 is lower input lag, really good for music rhythm-based games from the switch.

    • The LG's are too dim for SDR gaming on the Switch..
The peak luminance defaults at low with no way of increasing it as its greyed out…
LCD's or Sony Oled's are brighter and don't have this problem and it's worth noting Fortnite is in SDR also

  • Any one had any issues wall mounting?

Is it worth paying extra for the G1 to get it flusher to the wall?

  • Back in stock

  • I have a 4*4 media room with minimal natural light seeing through the cracks. I bought an XR x90J 75 thinking bigger would be better. FOMO is pushing me to consider it again and now i am sitting confused contemplating on all my life decisions, should I buy this or stick to Sony and probably add this to my long list of poor decisions?
