What a classic. One of the greatest games ever made.

C&C Remastered one of the best remasters of all time of one of the best games of all time for just $11.98.
    Then there's the GTA trilogy…

Crazy how EA actually made it good.

      • +1

yeah they published the shit out of that game

      • +5

I think it's more a case of EA standing out of the way (and yes that IS suprising) so the devs could get it done right.
Petroglyph who did the remaster are made up of many old Westwood staff, some of whom worked on the original C&C.
Plus they got Frank Klepacki back to remaster his original (brilliant) soundtrack.

I have memories of playing this at school

back then we were publishing school newspaper and had access to the school computer (the only one in the whole school) for one night a week

once done with the newspaper issue, we would play C&C. the damn thing wouldn't play without the CD and we didn't have the CD of the game but we found out that any CD with music would do, and the game would play the music from the CD in the background

so we would play C&C with the only CD we had: Smash by Offspring. best soundtrack for this game ever

Those that played back in the day know where Australia post originated

“GLA postal service, not responsible for damaged goods, sorry no tracking numbers” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hurry up and do a remastered Generals and Zerohour.

Also available in PC Game Pass

    • +4

I still play generals and zero hour. I multiplayer them with my kids… and I wide them off the face of the planet.

    • +1

Check out the Generals Evolution mod for RA3 while you wait!

      • Will do. Thanks!

  • Anyone actually played this version? I know of a prior rerelease that was buggy as hell and wouldn't even load sometimes.

    Is this actually playable?

    • I know my Origin version sucks. It can't run on Windows 10 without a lot of modding and command-line changes. Went through 2-3 3rd party dll mods before finding one that works.
RA2 was running at 0.2FPS, and alt-tabbing killed my game instantly (can't load back in).

Entire game series is better run off Windows XP in a Virtual Machine imo.

This is the official remastered version by petroglyph games aka ex Westwood studios.

Game mechanics are the exact same as 1989 pc version is the only thing people complain about the game as unit pathway was left untouched.

I purchased the Limited Run Edition of this game which comes with Steam Key and I love it.

Will hit you with nostalgic the minute you load the game for the first time.

I've had no issues with this game since launch. Runs perfectly fine on modern PC as its the remastered version not re-released.

      • +2

1989? Original Command & Conquer came out in 1995.

    • Works fine for me, running it on windows 10

  • +1

Didn't realise how finicky the unit movement is till I've played other RTS games, no real micro management without frustration

    • +1

      Starcraft 2 the best atm

    • You get spoiled by how smooth Blizzard's RTS games are, especially SC2. I recently started playing AoE4 since it's the only new RTS in over a decade and a lot of things annoy me. Then you jump back in a SC2 game and marvel at how smooth everything is until you die to a cannon rush 5 minutes in.

It's astounding how a game that comes out 11 years after SC2 is somehow inferior graphically, in game engine performance and in features. Still having fun playing it since it's the only new thing RTS fans get though.

    • You need to experience how RTS began with Dune and C&C being every RTS title got ideas from

  • +1

    Affirmative!!

These were amazing games at the time, wish they remade Dune 2000 as well

    • +1

I have a feeling we might see it again. With all the talk about the Dune movie.

      • Nah it is in licensing hell.

It's license is based off the 1984 film so to do a remaster it needs some complicated negotiations with the 1984 film publisher and book publisher, etc. Bond games are also stuck in those weird limbo.

      • There's a new Dune strategy game on the way, actually.

    • +3

Just get OpenRA and download Dune 2000!

      • Sandworms are my favourite

For this when it first came out. Best 20$ gaming wise I've ever spent. Hours of entertainment

  • Can u play this online o.o!!??

  • +1

My sister's are still traumatized from this game.

    • Is your sister's name "Tanya"?

      • +4

        Cha-ching!

    • +2

Hua hua hua hua hua huah that was left handed!

  • I've got this and bot in skirmish mode seems to just stop attacking and sit there, boo (even on hard mode)

  • This is excellent. Easy buy at this price if you don't already own.

  • Purchased earlier in the year, still play it from time to time (When I get a hankering to Nuke people!!). It's great!!

  • +2

This is also on EA play which you get with Game Pass ultimate

    • Thanks

  • I'm hoping this will be free at some point. Maybe prime gaming etc
