    Ozito here we come 😎

    • Are these batteries compatible with ozito products?

      • No

      • +2

Theres a guy on gumtree that sells a converter he 3d prints

  • I need a new Ozito blower…come on Bunnings!

  • "Now will Bunnings match this with their brand?"

Not too sure, atm there no stock for lawn mower at any Bunnings stores in my area.

    • I picked one up today easily at my local in VIC. There was plenty in stock.

      • +2

Good to know that. I live in VIC Northern suburbs, keen on an Ozito 18Vx2 Lawn mower to replace my corded one.

        • +2

They had about 5 boxes in Caroline Springs for that one as I bought it. You might want to call ahead or check closer your way.

          • @cute as duck: Did you get price match? And I'm not sure which one Bunnings price match this time since they have 33 and 37cm.

    • I was in Bunnings kingsgrove yesterday and there was a ton of stock for a bunch of mowers

      • Was it the steel deck version? I'm looking for one in NSW

        • the steel deck version was there for 399 I think

  • Anybody got expiernce with battery mowers, I always had petrol
This aldi price looks too good to be true

    • +2

I got one of the first ones that came out so maybe 4 or 5 years now? It had a fully plastic grass catcher where every other year had fabric catcher I from memory. Would definitely buy again.
I love it. I have a big yard and can do the lawn twice on one charge.

      Pros:
      - Light. Can easily carry
      - Quiet. I can listen to a podcast while mowing
      - starts first time everytime. My wife will even occasionally mow now.

      Cons:
      - it might struggle through thick grass like a thick buffalo grass.
      - Most of the parts are plastic.
      - Probably hard to get a new blade (I just sharpen mine myself)
      - isn't as wide as my previous petrol mower

    • I have an Aldi petrol mower that is a massive piece of crap though and seriously put me off Aldi gear, it was a gift without receipt, else i would of returned it week 1. That said this price is insanely good mate i'd seriously consider if value wise if i didn't already have an electric mower. 2 months ago i bought the Ozito PXC 2 x 18V brushless steel deck mower, its not on the site atm but its in some stores. It was much more expensive at $399 but honestly im loving it, so much easier but still feels sterdy and has no problems with my buffalo lawn.

      • +1

I bought the cheapest Aldi 4 stroke mower in 2015 for either $99 or $110 (can't remember) goes like a champ and cuts back, front, sides and nature strip on. 1200sqm property with ease. It suffered a bit damage to the height adjuster when I reversed into it, but still goes strong. In 6 years I've had to replace the pull cord, and a couple of spark plugs.

        • +2

And that is the problem with some Aldi special buys, it's often different stuff, sometimes it's crap, and it can be hard to get quality information about it before hand. After googling my mower (the push assist belt threw after a week, impossible to put back on without complete disassembly (tried), throttle wire is not fitted correctly so both throttle and start/stop dont work properly and several other issues). The only information i could find was people in the UK complaining about what seemed to be the same/similar one 6 months before hand. It runs, it cuts, but compared to any decent mower it's trash. Win some, lose some.

      • I’ve had the Ozito steel deck for a couple of years, love it. Used a four-stroke at Dad’s yesterday and remembered why I used to hate mowing

    • Bought a Victa battery one from Bunnings - goes great for my use (front yard and nature strip). Would never buy petrol again

    • I had the aldi 80V ferrex model. It cut well initially, but the battery degraded pretty quickly and it lacked grunt. The battery would heat up a lot during usage so it would refuse to charge until it cooled down. That was fine, except if you put it in while it was hot it wouldn't charge even when it cooled down unless you took it off the charger and back on.

I returned it for a full refund after about 6 months of usage, so not a big deal.

Now I'm using a battery 56V ego model. Can't fault it. Cuts great, but struggles if I leave my kikuyu a month or so, as would most mowers. There's no messing around with oil or petrol and it's quite light too. Battery still goes very strong and no overheating issues. Also when it stalls, unlike a petrol it's only a very slight annoyance as it's trivial to restart it (push the button). Ego is a far more expensive brand than aldi / ozito though.

Main plus would be the battery tools. Battery line trimmer, blower, and hedge trimmer are where you see the largest improvement with battery vs petrol.

      • +1

Had the same ferex 80v aldi mower. the brushless controller died after 2 months. Took it to local repair agent waited 2 weeks, they rang up. "sorry come pick it up parts available ETA = never". When I went to pickup they had 2 other ferex in, same story no parts. Took back to aldi got my money back. Went to Bunnings bought the 80v Victa and it's been flawless. just ordered some 4ah batteries from China.

        • May I ask the details on the batteries you purchased?

I too have the Victa 82v mower and chainsaw. Both are superb quality and the power is outstanding.

      • I am just getting into the Ego system, any tips on buying spares or do you know anyone who makes aftermarket buts for them? Want to get in on the cheap, got the mower with nothing else

        • Honestly I just have the batteries I got with my initial blower / mower battery combo and a free battery promo. The mower guzzles battery power but none of the other tools use very much.

They usually have promos for free batteries if you spend X amount every so often. The other tip is to keep an eye out for sales and discounts for the garden tools. Eg I bought my line trimmer for $100 from trade tools and $150 off amazon for my hedge trimmer. I've also seen the blower for $150 or so on amazon as well.

      • I have the same issue now after two and a bit months of usage.

Initially can cut whole lawn, now it is at half.

For aldi returns or warranty, so I need the box, or just the receipt and mower with all parts ok?

        • Just the receipt and mower parts. Aldi is pretty good with all that. I think given you're outside of the 60 day change of mind period they can technically offer to fix it instead of a return. Give them a call.

    • I went from electric back to petrol about 3 years ago because the plastic frame cracked after a few rocks, and it was pretty gutless as other people have said.

They are nice to mow with though because they are so quiet.

There are a few 36v (2x 18v) mowers with steel trays at bunnings now that I am super tempted to get when my petrol mower dies.

I'd never touch a mower with a plastic tray again though.

    • I've had the Aldi electric mower 5 years now. I have a large 600 sq metre lawn on a slope.

Can't fault it. It's been flawless and a lot less hassle than petrol mowers. I use two 4ah batteries and they're enough to do such a large lawn.

Works fine even when the grass is long. Just raise the front and do it without the catcher.

  • +1

Wonder if there's no 8Ah this time because they found out last time it doesn't fit in all the exisitng tools, even though they still seemed to sell out at my local stores.

    • I found out the hard way, does NOT fit the mower.

      • in what way didn't they fit? i notice they are flogging 4ah ultra batteries with the mower this time. maybe the mower has been redesigned?

        • Correct, the 8ah are way to big to slot in.

    • I tested my batteries today and it fitted the charger as well all the G-power tools.
Don`t have any aldi to test.

    • I was watching those. They must have been delayed for whatever reason, because no store had stock of them until 3 weeks later, and then only Sydney seemed to get them. Melbourne got shafted

      • They did get here (I got one, Melb) but were sold out in my area by the 2nd weekend. Will vary on area obviously.

I got one specifically for the mitre saw and did have to file off a bit of the locking pin area for it to fit easily. Go figure I haven't had to actually use it for any projects yet but don't regret forking out for the batt then if it ends up being a once-off run.

      • Melbourne got them everywhere like a week after Sydney. Was a plain in the ass checking stock but eventually found one.

        • How much were they?

          • @Jackson: $100

            • @Alzori: More expensive than 2x4Ah

              • @Jackson: 4Ah have been $50 for a long while, so not really. I got mine at $40 (sometimes $20) back in the day though yeah.

          • @Jackson: Mine were discounted at $69 each but haven`t been able to get any 4ah batteries yet.

      • i saw a few 8ah batteries behind the counter at my local aldi last week so possibly there is some stock floating around

  • +2

Got the mower during the last time they had it. Only have a front yard as the back is synthetic.

Pros:Can get almost 4 mows out of 1 charge. Its about half as loud as my old mower, around vacuum cleaner level. Easy to maneuver and can stand it vertical when putting it away. Easy start up.

Cons:The cut could be lower, Mostly plastic construction, not as wide as my old petrol mower

    • Yep these are my Pros and Cons as well. I have a 600Sq block. In winter I (well my son :) ) can mow the front and back yard using 2 4Amp batteries. In Summer, with thicker grass it uses two lots of the 2 4 amp batteries.

Its nice and manoeuvrable but wish the cut could be a tad lower.

  • +1

Have the mower, works great on my small patch of buffalo.

  • +1

I wanted the pole saw/tree pruner… come on Bunnings price match already!

    • Also interested in the pole trimmer unit. Which one do you think Bunnings will offer for price matching?

      • Your guess is as good as mine Matt… but i want the Ozito PXC 18V Pole Pruner. Some branches are toast once i get it!!

    • I've got Ozito and Aldi tools. I love the Aldi pole saw (Not the Ferrex stuff, its the green one). Done over 100 hrs on it now, cut down some 10m+ trees. Never missed a beat. Its efficiency blows my mind. I have it paired with a 4.0 Ah battery, and I wear out before the battery does.
I looked at the Ozito as well, but the Aldi version felt much more solid, extends further and the voltage is slightly higher (guessing Aldi use a 4.2v cells and Ozito use a 3.7v cells). I'm sure the Ozito is ok as well, but just doesn't feel as solid. Also used a Ryobi version, which started well, then broke after a few hrs. Looked inside and the Ryobi is plastic crap, whereas the Aldi used metal parts in the same places.

I love my Ozito whipper snipper, SDS and impact driver. Got an Aldi drill, not as good. But the Aldi Pole saw (Green Garden brand) is brilliant. Hang out for reduced/ clearance batteries (I paid $25 for the 4.0ah) and $5 for the charger.

      • +1

(guessing Aldi use a 4.2v cells and Ozito use a 3.7v cells)

        Nope!
I have shamelessly copied this text from a tool website to explain. (There are many other sites as well)

Inside your battery pack are the individual battery cells. In an 18V/20V Max system, they are always set in groups of 5 wired in a series. Each group of 5 is then wired in parallel to increase the number of amp-hours and overall battery capacity in watt-hours. For more on that, check out our feature on Voltage vs Amp Hours.

Each one of those battery cells has two voltage ratings – nominal and maximum. The amount of voltage that a battery produces when fully charged is higher than when it begins to discharge, even slightly. It’s actually a chemical characteristic of the lithium-ion system. Each battery cell has a nominal voltage of 3.6 volts and a maximum voltage of just over 4 volts.

        3.6 volts (nominal) x 5 cells = 18 volts
        4 volts (maximum) x 5 cells = 20 volts
That’s it. That’s the entire difference in 18V vs 20V Max batteries. It’s only a matter of whether the company is using nominal voltage or maximum voltage as its rating.

        • +2

Normally I'd totally agree, but I discovered the difference as I use my chargers for other things. The Ozito charger wouldn't charge our Dyson stick vac (max 20.8v), but the Aldi would (24v). So I checked the packs fully charged 19v/ 21v respectively. So think the Ozito are a 3.7 cell, Aldi being a 4.2.

      • Is this the one you got? If Bunnings/Ozito dont price match i may as well get this. Curious though tho it says 2.6m reach yet Ozito is 2.7m so maybe the Ozito is not quite the same you looked at before since you say its reach was less…

        • +1

Hard to tell from these pictures mate. To be honest looks a little different. My advice, check out both. My Aldi one is made of aluminium similar to pool tools. Light but quite rigid.Check the flex and the real life reach. The aldi version was slightly heavier, but I can still operate it at full reach one handed…just.

          • @tunzafun001: The updated picture on the Aldi website shows this is Ferrex, so not the same as yours i take it? Pole does appear to be aluminium. Looking at the chainsaw attachment it looks almost identical to the Bunnings one. The main differences i see are the pole handles. Interesting.

I'm using a corded electric Ryobi at the moment, at full extension 2 handed, its top heavy and becomes a bit difficult on the arms in short order… and being corded is just a nuisance.

            • +1

@Xizor: Ah..Ferrex..give it a miss. Yeah i was using a Ryobi chorded. Thought it was good, but the Aldi shits all over it. Have a look at how the chainbar is held on the Ryobi (plastic lug). Pure crap. The Aldi version is metal (as it should be).Not sure about the ozito.

              • @tunzafun001: Thanks mate. Alas, beggars can't be choosers i really need a cordless one. Hopefully Bunnings drop the price of theirs so at least it's the devil i know.

                • @Xizor: Bunnings $179 skin plastic capped chain tension adjuster; actual mechanism is metal obv,
cap clamp for chain +bar +belt cover is plastic that sits on top of chain tension adjuster.

Anyone's ozito pole saw leak bar oil oof the cap/tap lip at all?

                  • +1

@mrhashish: Sounds like it may be a lucky dip. For what its worth the Ryobi corded one i use atm leaks a little.

                    • @Xizor: Hmm oh well must have a pos cap on mine. Thx

  • Are these all in-store or online?
Last time I went to Aldi they said only a few store get them in, the rest online purchase only + delivery kills it.

    • Instore only. You will find they do different products in-store vs online. I have never seen the same item in both

  • I want a reciprocating saw.

  • +1

Nothing beats Ego in battery range, I have all Ego garden tools, they are exceptional beats in cordless range. Never go back to Petrol ( I had Honda mower)

    • +4

Only problem is they are expensive AF.

      • You get what you pay for. I would never touch anything other than Ego. Maybe 80V Victa as I heard they are not too bad

        • +1

With Ego perhaps yes. But you can also get a lot more than what you pay for with value propositions. And that is key to know for anyone who does not have particularly demanding requirements or $ are a concern. Several (not all) of my Ozito items i've no doubt are vastly better value and perform better than my neighbors equivalent from Makita/Ryobi etc that cost quite a bit more. I was going to get into the Ego range (initially their blower) until i investigated a few Ozito items further and have since been very impressed with the performance/value. The Jet blower, brushless deck mower, chainsaw, proper whipper snipper, hedge trimmer all work great. Use them every week in the warmer months and its just a breeze.

  • Ozito 37cm mower is $375 at Bunnings! I can't see them matching Aldi's price.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-2-x-18v-telescopic-law…

They may offer the cheaper 33cm model instead???

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-2-x-18v-cordless-lawn-…

    • 33cm isn't brushless either so not a true match but this is the one they price matched last time.

    • +2

If price is not that important and wider cutting you are better off getting the Ozito PXC 2 x 18V brushless steel deck mower 46cm its $399 in-store but not on website atm for some reason. I bought it recently, very happy.

      • Does it come with batteries?

        • Yup. Comes with 2x 4ah batteries and chargers

      • but not on website atm for some reason

Because it isn't available anymore. It's only sold once in a while as a promotional offering (usually in the lead up to spring/summer).

        • I've seen it in store at several bunnings recently so they are still around.

          • @Xizor: Any stores in NSW?

            • +1

@lolwut: Yeah im in Syd, best to just call up any store an ask them to check in the system which stores have it. I got mine at Dural but seen it at others. I think its product PXBSDMK-4182 / item 0244221. Normal price is $399.

              • @Xizor: Thanks, might try dural. I've tried some local stores but they weren't too helpful (probably xmas fatigue). If you could list the other stores that'd be great!

                • @lolwut: What stores are closest to you? I can see where they are. Also Dural is out of stock now.

                  • @Applause: Mt druitt

                    • +2

@lolwut: Blacktown store has stock based on the PowerPass app.

                      • @BellaWii: Thanks, I'll give them a go

                      • @BellaWii: Can someone please check Springfield, Oxley and Bundamba for me. Cheers

                        • @ABA: Oxley low stock, Acacia ridge normal stock

                          • @Applause: Any chance you can check around brisbane again and Acia ridge?

In store could only find 1 at newstead as apparently they can only check nearby stores but appears that 1 doesn't exist.

                            • +1

@KRM123: See this comment about Acacia Ridge, there’s 8 left https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11583706/redir

Stock at Burleigh Waters, Robina, Acacia Ridge, Nerang,

Low stock (no guarantee of stock) Newstead, Oxley, Victoria Point

Also I’d point out to read this post about this mower and see if it’s not right for you. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/675550

                              • @Applause: Thanks mate,

I called them up and they confirmed they had 8, so I headed straight down. However funnily enough when i arrived they had 8 near store front, and a lady wheeled out another 8 to store front, and i then spotted another 5 or 6 in the middle isle that runs horizontally through the store, so they seemed to have much more stock than showing on their system.

My back lawn is 170m2 and its cut by a robot mower so I don't need to cut it. The front lawn is only around 60 or 70m2 and is what is all i need the mower for, so i think it's ok for that. I hadn't cut the front lawn since around mid November when the last mower died, and the Ozito coped ok. Got bogged in a few very tall spots and i just adjusted the height up a little, then dropped it again, but my old petrol one would also do the same. I think for my needs its perfect and if any dramas Bunnings have a good return policy. The unit has 5 year warranty too which is decent.

                              • @Applause: I picked up one of these at Acacia Ridge yesterday and according to the person I talked to at Oxley (went there first) they were showing 40+ in stock.

There were probably a dozen in the display stack I picked mine out of.

                      • @BellaWii: Thanks! I bought one today and I'm pretty impressed. Managed to do 500m2 backyard with a mix of 25% long (>15cm) and 75% short (5cm) before the batteries ran dry.
Wasn't my most efficient run either, but the fact that I had batteries from other ozito products meant I could swap them out and move onto the front yard.
Also, managed to plow it through some sticks and it handled them OK too.
Lawn was cut using the level 5 stage height (midway), and I thought that was pretty short, so not sure how others have been criticising the product for now not cutting enough!

There is only 1 left at Blacktown AFAIK. I'd recommend it for the price and what you're getting.

                        Thanks everyone for your help.

                        • @lolwut: Nice to see you managed to snare one! What grass do you have? I'm mowing on either 3 or 4 for my lawn (sir walter buff out back, mix of random crap out front). The manual doesn't say what each of the settings are other than the lowest is 25mm and hightest is 80mm.

                          • @Xizor: It's a mix of couch and Kikuyu. I let the couch overgrow in the hopes it'd out compete the Kikuyu but doesn't look like it

          • @Xizor: Would just be leftover stock from said promo.

I was just explaining why it's not on the website anymore. You'd need to ring around to hopefully get lucky and find one somewhat near you.

      • +1

I have the steel deck mower too. It's awesome. Cuts through a large buffalo lawn and still has charge to spare. 2 x 4 ah 18V batteries and the best Ozito dual rapid charger

  • Been waiting for the mower kit. Will try my luck.

  • Will the batteries fit ozito?

  • +1

My blower (same as one pictured) crapped itself about 2 months ago. Couldn't find the receipt so make sure you take a picture of it as they have 5 year warranty
