Reading comments from old thread there were some concerns its more dilute than seasol. But from what's written on the pack it makes sense
2L of Aldi makes 720L @9.99
1.2L of Seasol makes 540L @ 10.98

Genuine question. Is seaweed thing really working in garden? I’ve a large garden and been using seasols with other fertiliser but honestly I’m not so sure if it benefits.

    • I dunno. I wonder that myself.

      This from ABC
      https://www.abc.net.au/gardening/factsheets/seaweed-fertilis…

    • Seasol isn't a fertiliser as such. It provides organic matter/bacteria, but not particularly high in KNP components. Typically one would use both. Seasol particularly for repotting/new plants, and fertiliser (the right one) for fruiting/flowering/leafy plants.

      • i've repotted plants without seasol and they are fine

    • I've found it to be very useful, especially for re-potting, reduces stress on the plants. Also I've noticed that sometimes if my plant leaves are dropping a bit and I use this stuff, it looks full of life the next day.

Yep it definitely works. But you can overdo it. I use seasol once every 2 weeks and just a light watering. You can't really tell the quality of the product just based on its dilution figures.

    Stick with name brands.

And you should use more than just seaweed concentrate. It's really just a booster. Get some good granular fertilizer too or organic fertiliser like rooster booster. And depending on what you are growing, some trace minerals, rock minerals, lime, etc, or good compost and aged manures help.

  • How does this compare with Bunnings Garden Basics?

    • +1

Based on my highly unscientific smell test, Garden Basics smells a lot more pungent and closer to Seasol while Aldi's version smells very watered down.

Generally big fan of Aldi but this was a buy once buy never again for me.

EDIT: Perhaps my neg is harsh given only a smell test. Can't seem to remove it. Still I'd maintain go for the bunnings home brand.

      • Thanks for your input haha

  • Not sure about the this, but i have bad experience with their potting mix and active soil,

Yeah I don't like their active soil, a lot of my plants died last season because of it. Their potting mix, on the other hand, has been fine for me. Just make sure to mix some fertilizer granules around with it and it'll be fine.

  • Would this help with grass?

Costco stocks a different brand for cheaper, 2x2L bottles for the same price, very rarely they do go on sale for $7.99 too. This same brand 2 pack can also be found at the reject shop but for $12.99
