    Please add price to title

    • I read it as $30 total…

  • what is the deal?

  • so its 560+30 = 590$ in total.
Just did a quick search, handtec has it for 526+shipping.

  • Not the best price you can buy from market but it is white colour.

    • handtec has both black n white at same price. im not trying to advertise hanctec, i was also after this set, couldn't find anywhere cheaper in AU, waiting for the price to go down. as I am now seeing how my 710$ galaxy nexus became 400$ :)

    • but not in "white" colour.

The black looks far better anywayIMO .
Regardless an extra $100 for exactly the same phone is not a "bargain".

        • if the user prefer white, they don't mind to pay more..like i said before,"not the best price you can buy from market, but it's white colour
          ".

        • Having the colour as white shouldn't come as a premium "feature". Black coloured phones imho are for better for guys anyway

    • plus it's 32gb storage !?! thats not bad for 488$

  • anyone know this phone is any good compared to the S2?

    • +1

Love the sony layout I would say much better not because of the hardware as they're both pretty hardcore but because of the ease of use and better UI

    • If you are talking about the standard S2, then the Xperia S has a better dual core processor (1.2 vs 1.5 gHz).

Regarding the LTE version of the S2, they are both 1.5 gHz, so someone else super smart will have to come along and comment about that :P

      Other details:
      Xperia S vs Galaxy SII
Micro SIM vs Full sized SIM
No MicroSD slot vs MicroSD slot
Non-removable battery vs Removable battery (can also upgrade to higher capacity battery due to exchangeable battery cover)
Dedicated camera button vs No dedicated camera button
      (for half press focus)

(PS wish I could put that in a table format ><)

      • xperia s also has a 12mp camera vs the 8mp from s2.

I think you forgot to mention it also comes with the outdated software, android 2.3.6.

    • +1

Sony will be updating it to Ice Cream Sandwich shortly, along with their other phones.

Not the best move not to release it with ICS, but if they wait for that, the phone might as well be not released, it will be outdated ><"

      • My friend's X10 had tons of problem after he updated to whatever it was that $ony promised before. I'd wait a bit longer if it's really going to be updated "shortly". Hopefully they will make it work this time.

It is a really nice looking phone though.

        • Must be a bad app or something… My X10 is just brilliant & is fully updated. Satnav, camera, movie all better than expected.
Friend has a X10 which is a pita.. not sure if it is beause it is a telstra one (mine non telstra) or the operator??
Some cases do make them misbehave too.. ie: cover proximity sensors etc.

  • Is this an ad?

  • good as a camera with 12mp, panorama and all but not that great as multifunction device yet. The screen resolution is the best out there but the phone sometime freeze and i have to force restart it when i play some high end game. hopefully sony will get that fix when they upgrade to ics for it. Calling and text messaging is fine though

  • I just saw this on TV for under $500..

  • Sony keeps delaying ics update. Dont support a phone that keeps delaying updates….

    • Which handset manufacturer has actually rolled out their ICS update already?

  • Oh and u can bet expansys hasnt paid a premium for the white, yet charges customers a premium? Profiteering at its best.

Why would you buy this device unless you had a special affinity for Sony?

The HTC One S is the same price and yet is better or on par with this device in every aspect besides this having a 12MP camera and we all know how MP counts for next to nothing beyond like 5.

The only thing I would argue is this phone having an HD screen whereas the One S only has qHD but in all honestly I think that the One S with the new 28nm architecture Snapdragon S4 CPU making it immensely more battery efficient and powerful than previous generation CPUs outweighs that completely

This phone really cannot compete at that price range

  • This is available at Dick smith for $555 tomorrow.
