  • Man the minions are hard to find without price jacks at the moment. Been wanting some skinwall 29" and it's slim pickings

    • yeah, I've read they have been hard to find.. I am kinda spewing that I didn't spend the extra to get the skinwalls for $65. oh well… I'll keep it in the back of my mind when another $10 ebay deal comes up.
Glad I got 27.5" rims now… really had no idea when I bought the bike..
I'm gonna test it out down at Thredbo this week! (but the Minion won't be here in time)

Nice find. Just ordered. Was hoping to get 3C, but out of stock. My bike came with the TR-3C as stock on the front, and regular TR on the rear.
Any tips on if this tyre is geared more towards front or rear?

The R in DHR stands for rear (and there is a matching DHF for the front) but plenty of people like the DHR on the front as well.

      • I read that the R or F originally meant Race or Freeride.

Whatever I have dhf front and back and love them.

        • I read R for rear and F for front… It looks like these have a full horizontal knob on the DHR presumably to get more traction while putting down power… I've only got stock schwalbe nobby nics on the rear of mine and found the side walls got worn pretty quickly… Wouldn't buy them again. Hopefully these will be as good as the reviews

          • @maddoglee: I used to always ride DHF/DHR. Just got back into riding and bike came with Nobby Nics front and rear. They were alright, certainly felt they rolled a bit quicker than the Minions but swapped them out for DHF/Dissector and feel much better in the corners.

The DHR has like you said has horizontal siping for better traction on rocks/roots under braking but the DHF is more focused for grip in cornering.

        • I've read that too but the only sources I've been able to find to support it are forum comments repeating the claim.

3C on front for improved grip with the knobs and EXO on rear for thicker sidewalls(stops blowouts from drops and side wall abrasions that you would see from rock gardens)

So this would be better on the back. Generally 2.25-2.4 on rear and 2.4-2.5 on front for better control

      • "EXO" refers to the tyre casing and "3C" refers to the tread compound. There are two (or sometimes three) different grades of rubber offered for "3C" tyres so that alone also tells you little about the grip it offers.

EXO is the thinnest and weakest TR casing available for Minions, so my advice is to steer clear. As a bare minimum, if you're using these tyres the way they're designed to be used, you should be looking at DD on the rear and EXO+ on the front.

  • 95% Ebay seller rating not the best.

Yeah, I saw that…. But some of the recent reviews looked alright… Let's hope I don't get burnt

  • "We hope everything is well. We are touching base with you regarding your order of the Maxxis DHRII tyre that you ordered on the 2nd of January. Unfortunately, we have run out of stock for this tyre and supplier is not able to fulfill our replenishment requests sooner. Thus, we regret to inform you we had to cancel the order on the 4th of January and initiated the refund process"

Anyone else get this? Awaiting refund…

    • Yep got the same message.. What a dodgy seller.
Damn I can't neg my own deal

      • Can you post here when you get refund back?

Usually refunds appear instantly on the eBay side, but still nothing at this stage. I’ll report back when the order changes status to refund.

Yeah no worries… We should be able to get a $10 voucher from eBay for losing the THANKSPLUS21 coupon as well

          • @maddoglee: My order now reports as posted - 3rd Jan, which is the complete opposite of what seller communicated in above message. Is yours the same?
I have messaged buyer but no response. Usually when they decide to refund, they mark the order as refunded, and then a few days later, money is back in the bank. Bit wary this seller is marking order as sent when he clearly has no stock and should be refunding.

Can op mark this item as expired please.

  • My order has been tagged as refunded now but the reason is that the buyer requested it. What a dodgy bastard.

My order was logged as posted as well.. Pretty much straight away.. I sent the seller a message asking when it would be in stock and didn't get a reply.

    • Same experience. Took 3 messages until they changed from sent to refunded

AU $55.00 refund sent on 7 Jan 2022

      • hmm, I also received the no stock msg and supposedly refund in processing. I better check.
