Do You Watch The Nightly News?

Do you watch the nightly news?

Has the news in this country ever been informative without the fearmongering?

Channel 9 News tonight:
1. Djokovic attending AO
2. NO rapid tests and people turning up to testing sites at 2:30am
3. No elective surgery from Thursday..
4. Food shortages at Supermarkets
5. No ambulances available unless your suffering from a severe emergency.

Wondering how many users out there still watch free to air news in this nation.

I get the "news" from Twitter. Anything else is noise.

    • +13

There's always one elitist who thinks the noise they consume is more relevant than everyone else's.

      To put it in a familiar term for you;

      It's[clap emoji]All[clap emoji]Trash[clap emoji].

Haven't had a TV for at least 7 years I'd say.

  • Yes

  • +5

I am too busy reading OZB to worry about the TV news

  • +4

Nope, generally don't watch any free-to-air tv at all really

  • been informative without the fearmongering

    Can't it be both ;)

    • Why can't they put a positive spin on it 🤣.

Like Scott Morrisons grin when he knows his talking shit.

      • Like Scott Morrisons grin when he knows his talking shit.

Yeah, but the sh$t on the same topic changes every day.
Like RAT pricing/free messaging changed like 3 times in 3 days this week

Without nightly News how would you get such clear messaging from our government :)

Whats not to love about MSM. Pro LNP/Majors. Tons of articles giving a platform to big companies but unemployment for refusing jobs. Pro mining articles while squashing/not talking about heavy jail penalties for delaying production.

I use JuiceMedia, Michael West and Conversation and even offensive Jordies for "the other side" of the billion dollar owner bullshit. Yes, if the media you're watching is owned by a billionaire, you're slowly becoming one of their tools.

I'd like a genuine answer on why that multi millionare tennis player is allowed in and others have to go thru hell to get in….

Guess like all the other rich and famous

We're probably paying for flights and accommodation too

I get my news from The Onion

I'd like a genuine answer on why that multi millionare tennis player is allowed in and others have to go thru hell to get in….

They've said why. He "meets the criteria" for an exemption. However, the paperwork that is lodged for an exemption, isn't actually checked, it's simply assumed to be accurate. He is (so far) getting an exemption completely legally. This Victorian government made these laws, get upset at them. They've locked everyone up for months, but make loopholes like this that certain people can exploit.

I actually found it interesting they said they removed the Name, Country of Origin etc, yet in the interview the lady said we took the advice from the Serbian doctors when making the decision.

So they clearly knew who it was lol.

        • The medical reports were probably not even in English?

      • Completely not true. SloMo lied through his teeth.

Vic Gov do not have any jurisdiction over Visas.

The Australian Border Force requested Vic provide an exception to the vaccination exemption - they said provide this in writing, ABF did - Victoria declined anyway lmao and along comes SloMo pretending he is all for the rules and consequences of not getting vaxxed.

        • Vic Gov do not have any jurisdiction over Visas.

I didn't mention visas at all.

Has the news in this country ever been informative without the fearmongering?

Not for a very long time.

  • +1

Watch it but don't believe most of it.

The level of journalism in this country has been going down hill for a long time.

They seem to have the motto "If you don't hear a good story by 10:00 am make one up".

I get all of my news from news.com.au like a true consumer

  • Food shortage at supermarkets - will you be panic buying before the food runs out?

  • MSM just doesn't compare to the high brow, educated learnings delved out by SKY News, Andrew Bolt and Peta Credlin.
I really enjoy being lectured by people with no qualifications or background in matters who have an opinion and treat it as gospel.

Oh and i'm a coal miner whos hobbies include beating my wife and wearing thongs while chugging stubbies of XXXX and telling everyone they're sheep.

  • Stopped watching news 30 years ago. Too many sport spoilers…. Nearly found out about today's Dakar stage just walking through the house as someone had tv on
    .

    • Damn thanks for the reminder, I forgot it started.

      • As fast as the bikes and cars are, I just love the trucks. Like elephants jumping
        .

  • Combination of news.com.au vs the guardian with occasional bits of YouTube esp for overseas news keeps me just fine…. Can minimise feel good stories, do deep diving on other things if needed and reduce my stress at seeing the conglomeration of nightly buttholes passing by

  • I use to love watching the channel 9 news with Brian Henderson. This is Brian Henderson GoodNight! RIP!

ABC News theme remix by Pendulum - the only solid truth to have come from any MSM source since the moon landing. No, 9/11. Wait, COVID.

  • Nope, just read online and sometimes hear on the radio to and from work. Work also does a bit of a digest of pertinent issues. I do really like watching the news, but no chance now with a toddler.

I watch ABC channel on YouTube for news
That way I watch the news topics that I choose and don't have to sit through what I'm not interested in

      • damn it dont ruin it for meeeeee

        • Should have put a spoiler tag on it, sorry mate.

  • I check the ABC News website throughout the day but don’t get chance to watch it on the TV anymore. Enjoy watching Joe O’Brien, he got me through a lot of the first year of the pandemic.

I'm sure there must be worse ways to waste your evening than watching main stream media on tv, but i can't think of any.

  • The first 20 minutes of channel seven news is the daily crime report followed by infomercials paid for by advertisers.
