Hi everyone,

Happy new year!

Oeck is a new type of VPN with industry-first features. We own all of our own hardware and do not use hard drives at all. Our VPN nodes are RAM only and we do not log user VPN traffic or activity. Our system is highly automated so that you don't need to go server surfing to find a server for channels such as Netflix, Hulu, etc. Simply connect to the VPN region closest to you and we take care of the rest. We have 30 Netflix regions available and many other streaming services.

If you are happy with the service and wish to purchase, simply go to your subscription page in your dashboard and select the 6 month prepaid plan after you have filled out the coupon code.

This offer does not stack onto existing subscriptions. Deal is charged as a once off payment of $26.81 USD for 6 months.

As usual, I will be here to answer any questions any of you may have.

Regards,
Peter @ Oeck.

  • Hi Peter can Ur vpn be run through a wireguard client on a router?

    • Hi blues11,

At the moment we don't support Wireguard. We have OpenVPN available. I am not aware of any routers that currently support Wireguard, but if there are, that is a good sign.

If your router supports OpenVPN ( which if it supports Wireguard it will most likely also support OpenVPN IMO ) then you can try Oeck on it. What speed is your line at home?

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

      • Sadly shit fttn so 50 only, my router can do openvpn and wireguard but seems to struggle with openvpn during peak hours.

        • Hi blues11,

Peak hours should not affect the VPN speed based on it being Wireguard or OpenVPN. Your ISP will determine that. I would suggest trying us out as it is free for 3 days ( as in you don't need to provide any payment details ) and see how we work for you. If your router can handle the overheads of OpenVPN ( regardless of peak or not ) then you should be getting near line speed.

          Regards,
          Peter @ Oeck.

  • Isn't it a bit redundant to have a no logging policy when you're so heavily exposed to the Australian legal jurisdiction? I like the way Oeck does business (reminds myself of Mullvad in many ways) but privacy tools are one of the few cases where I prefer the owners to be foreign owned and controlled. Australia isn't a privacy friendly jurisdiction, and it's hard to tell if the founders of Oeck would be willing to sacrifice themselves to jail should the Commonwealth Government come knocking.

      Hi Tyrx,

We specifically didn't incorporate Oeck in Australia due to data retention laws. We are currently set up in Hong Kong as HK is still a friendly place for VPN companies. If this changes, we are ready to move the company to Singapore in order to be able to maintain our high level of privacy for our users.

As far as what can the Australian government do, they can make requests. There is nothing that can be done to force us to do anything as the company is not Australian. Regardless of that fact, we don't log anything, so there is nothing to hand over anyway.

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

  • Can I watch hotstar?

    • Hi CThomas,

We have not unblocked that channel specifically. However, we do have servers in India, so we will add this to our list and push it out as an automatic channel on our next update.

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

  • Not work on Netflix South Korea. It shows 'You are using a proxy….'

      Hi kkeith22,

Please submit a support ticket so we can ensure the DNS is set up properly on your system. Your home network may be highjacking the DNS and causing it to break.

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

      • Okay, will do right now.

        • No problem. I have just tested an SK is working for me. So I would say it is most likely a DNS issue on your end. Once you submit a ticket I am sure we can get it running.

          Regards,
          Peter @ Oeck.

  • What's the cost to continue after the 6 months?

    • Hi paulftw,

The costs are listed at https://www.oeck.com/pricing/ and they are in USD. You will need to purchase a subscription after the 6 month period in order to keep your subscription active. The 6 month special offer is a once-off purchase and will not be billed automatically after this time period.

This offer does not make us profit as it is more to raise brand awareness ( well, to let people know we even exist ). The specials are not sustainable long term as we don't squeeze a million customers per server like some other VPN services do. We also only use our own hardware and the automatic features behind the unblocking are also expensive to do.

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

Any chance of a 12th or 24mth deal? I'd be open to a $120/2yr deal. Or are you're margins too slim for that?

        • Hi M00Cow,

$120 USD for a 24 month plan we can do as a customer loyalty reward. We won't be able to do it for $120 AUD though.

          Regards,
          Peter @ Oeck.

  • Hey, I chatted with you some time ago about getting US Amazon prime working, which I haven't managed to do consistently through any other vpn (sporadically, not consistently).

    Any progress on this front?

    • Hi nessism,

We don't automatically unblock Amazon US. However, if you connect to our Seattle region rather than an Australian region, US Prime will work :)

      Regards,
      Peter @ Oeck.

    • May I know the benefits of using Amazon US

      • Hi CThomas,

You get a different library depending on which region you access Amazon from.

        Regards,
        Peter @ Oeck.
