Edit: 08/02/22 On back order but now with free international delivery for all.

Edit: 02/02/22 …and it's on again but with a "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months." caveat.

Edit: 25/01/22 It's been off and on again but back on at about $426 today

Price is jumping around with (presumably) the exchange rate but has now dropped to $427.47 (13/01/22) increased to $430.32 (19/01/22) …and now back to $424.30 (21/01/22) lol!

The 2TB SN850 has had a nice drop in price from $484.70 to $431.73 which the Camels say is an all time Amazon low beating the November price of about $435.

The 1TB at $237.51 has been significantly cheaper recently.

These are very fast Gen4 drives suitable for the PS5 with the addition of a heatsink. They do have a reputation for running quite hot though.

  • Ah this or the 980 pro? Firecuda 530 is probably out of this price range.

Cheapest I've seen the 530 (last couple of weeks) is $556.

I went for the 980 Pro mainly because it runs cooler and in general use you would probably need to break out a stopwatch to notice the difference in speed. It's about $495 atm though.

  • Just spent $418 on a Gammix S70 Blade 2TB.. help, someone convince me that I shouldn't buy this and try to sell the Gammix!

Can you try and return it? I don't think anyone wants to buy a used SSD, I mean I certainly wouldn't.

      • I wouldn't get refunded the cost of shipping (and taxes?) from the US though, unfortunately, so probably not worth it..

Understandable, but if the package were still sealed..

        • You've opened the package already?

Gammix S70 Blade - Innogrit IG5236 based SSD, which competes with Phison E18 based SSDs (i.e. Firecuda 530). Obviously Firecuda 530 has quite a few optimisations.

In terms of sequential read/write, Gammix S70 Blade 2TB is in the 7GB read/6GB write range (via SLC cache/Crystal DiskMark), faster than SN850. I don't have the sustained write details after the SLC cache is exhausted.

Unless you really really want SN850, or somehow 4K random write is critical to you, it might be easier to just keep the drive. Personally, I am not a big fan of WD's warranty service (though some other OZBers had good experience). That said, I am not sure about Adata's warranty either.

      • This was actually very helpful. I'll keep the blade. Thank you!

Useless without a heatsink on PS5…..and not bothered to source and figure out how to put one on separately. Where is the deal for heatsink? Not expecting it here as people only care about Ryzens and GTX stuff on OzB. Yay let's spend 3k on a setup that will be obselete soon and have no exclusives…….

Will this work well with heatsinks that come with mid-high tier motherboards?

I have 1TB version of this on an asus mobo that comes with its own heatsink. No issue so far

They're bringing out a new model of this. It's called SN 850x as opposed to SN 850.
