Mind you, the price for a pack of 15 x assorted black/blue/red is very decent.

  • OK. That was fast. Must have changed while posted! :(

Pens bought during my life: 1000
Pens used from start to finish: 0

Probably 1/2 was lost along the way and 1/4 gained so hard to track usage like the current Covid count rate.! 😇

  • Didn't last long, did it?

BIC is notorious for non-refillable lighters and non-refillable pens.
    https://www.bicworld.com

If only they would consider refills, and sell them for no more than 50% of the cost of a new pen. If this ever happens from any low-cost pen manufacturer, I will be shocked.

    • There is about 1c of plastic in a pen, and the whole unit sells for under 10c delivered. Hard to see how they could make any money selling refills for 5c ea.

FWIW, these are the best disposable pens I have used. I bought 100 a few years ago and they have been perfect:
      - always writes first try when you put pen to page, no scribbling to make the ink start.
      - the barrel doesn’t crack or get brittle with age like a kilometrico or the BIC crystal.
      - they write a long time. I think we have one that ran out.

Only downside is I find them incredibly ugly!

Most people don't buy in bulk like this. The plastic waste is horrendous.

The ball tip and ink refill would probably be the lion's share of the cost of the product for sure, so the economics probably doesn't make sense. The only thing that would change things is probably a resource shortage.

BIC is super wasteful in several product categories, so I guess this is the BIC way. People themselves throw out perfectly good pens a lot, so it goes both ways.
