  • I've been looking at this for a travel router, on paper it looks much faster than the GL.iNet GL-MT1300 (Beryl) but I've read reviews that say it's much the same when running a WireGuard VPN.

Has anyone tried both models? Thoughts would be appreciated

  • +2

Had super high hopes for the GL.iNet kit, and just picked up one of these and 3x b2200's in a mesh and must say, really disappointed in it so far.
Just so many really simple things that could work much better, with very few tweaks but appears that the devs just never worked on it.

Kinda reminds me of when I bought a ubiquity edge router once upon a time where yeah sure, you 'could' do a bunch of amazing things,.. if you wanted to muck about in the command line for hours on end, and piece together multiple examples from forums in order to make things work.

Was really excited when it all turned up, but the mesh from the b2200's thats flakey and unreliable combined with very basic web interface on it and the GL-MV1000 has really turned me off :(

Flint can get way better than 10 Mbps with Open VPN

Although that's a different story that half the time it wont even bloody connect, (but when it connects, usually caps at like 50 Mbps)

    • I think the flint is aimed at a different audience, the Brume is supposed to be more portable than the flint.

  • Awesome, been wanting to upgrade the Mango I’ve been using as a VPN server to WireGuard into my network, it’s not even close to taking advantage of my 500/500 connection. Thanks OP!
