After the success of the Aqara Smart Temperature Humidity Sensor deal I spoke to GeekBuying to see what other sensors they had on offer and they have the latest version of the popular Aqara Window Door Sensors in a pack of 2 on sale.

The new version utilises Zigbee 3.0 which offers better security, better stability, better compatibility, lower power consumption (up to 2 years battery life) and allows you to have more sensors on the same network.

Like the predecessor it's designed to detect when a door or window has been opened/closed and can trigger an alarm or notification to a Zigbee hub or your phone. It can be setup to interact with other sensors, like turning on your smart lights when a door has been opened.

It requires the use of a Zigbee hub and it's compatible with many brands including Aqara, Xiaomi, Conbee and more. It also supports Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Home Assistant.

Would anyone be interested in a deal on the Aqara vibration sensor?

    • What price?

      • US$18.99 potentially.

        • For one or two

          • +1

@asa79: Just one. Can probably squeeze a lower price if there was demand for it.

            • +1

@Clear: Yeah might be interested in a two pack

    • Sure, would it work with Hubitat?

      • +1

You need to use 3rd party drivers developed by the community found here. The Vibration sensor is listed as being compatible.

        • Cool! How did you go in getting the deal for it? Thanks

    • I'd look at a couple. Don't have a huge use case for it but I'll find something.

These ZigBee 3 don't work with my conbee stick, anyone else got it working?

  • Will these pair with an Echo with built in ZigBee hub? The motion sensors won't, something about different ZigBee standards?
And if I pair them to my Xiaomi ZigBee hub, will they actually work with Alexa? My older version motion sensors stopped working in Alexa last month for no reason (but still show up sensing movement fine in Mi Home), but the one Xiaomi door sensor I have still works in Alexa.

Zigbee has "different profiles" and they can be incompatible with each other. From my understanding the Echo uses a different profile that's not compatible with Aqara.

      • Thanks

  • Trying to buy 10 of the temp sensors and 14 of the door and window sensors without luck. Is it limited to 1 per customer?

    • The coupon applies to one 2 pack so just make multiple orders.

      • Okay thank you!

@OP, any deals on the motion sensors?

    • Looking for deal on motion sensors as well

    • +1

Yeah, looking for deals on motion sensors and water sensors too.

    • +1

Add me to the list of interest for motion sensors.

  • Does anyone know if this will work with the ZemiSmart zigbee hub?

    • Doubt it as that is just tuya based

  • +1

i was just looking for one of these for my washing machine.

    • Why for washing machine? It's not as though the door pops open when done :-)

      • +1

Leave the washing machine lid or door open after every load of wash to allow moisture to escape. … Dry just-washed clothes promptly. Even 4-5 hours is too long to let wet clothes sit in a warm, enclosed space. Clean your washing machine tub on a regular basis to remove residue that encourages the growth of mildew.

      • +1

Combine with energy monitor smart plug. Set an automation to keep reminding you if the lid is not opened since the last cycle.

  • How do the aqara sensors compare to the sonoff ones?

    • Better if you want to do updates to the aqara devices for any security fixes

  • Compatible with Samsung Smartthings?

  • Hi OP, any deals for the Xiaomi motion/body sensor? Cheers :)

  • Do you need an additional hub if you are to connect them to a HomeKit network?

    • Yes. Zigbee does not work without a hub/stick/something…

      • The image saying "Works with Homekit" is a little misleading. As it doesn't work with homekit - the hub does. Should have an * saying "With hub sold separately"

Received an email from GB today trying to swap my order over to the non-Zigbee 3 version as they're out of stock of this one. Anyone else have the same issue?

    • +1

I'll speak to GB about that and see what's going on.

      • Thanks! I'll hold off replying for a bit. Have PM'd the order number to you if that helps.

      • I got an email as well and mine says that the newer version is discontinued????
A link to an earlier version was included but does not appear to be item 339804 mentioned?

Unfortunately, the product that you bought is no longer available and is discontinued.
Kindly let us know if you can accept changing into the item 339804 ?

If you are not interested in the product we recommended, how about changing to the product you like?
Please give us the item code or the link. Thank you.

        • Yep I'm chasing that up with them. There really isn't any major differences between the two anyway. They both have the same function.

          • @Clear: can either pair directly to Echos?

            • +1

@salem: No. All require a proper Zigbee hub.

              • @Clear: cheers. appreciate the swift responses to my many questions, even if I don't like the answers :)

                • @salem: This is a cheap hub.

                  • @Clear: Oh I already have a Xiaomi zigbee hub. It's just that the Mi Home Alexa skill was not working with Aqara movement sensors for the last month or so, so Alexa couldn't control my Grid connect or ewelink lights off their sensor input. I got halfway through setting up home assistant as a workaround when I found that it didn't support GridConnect, only tuya, so I'd have another chore removing all those lights from GridConect and adding them to tuya and rebuilding all my alexa routines in home assistant and I had a tanty and gave up. I was hoping for some sensors that works natively direct with the Alexa zigbee hubs I already have to avoid needing skills or additional hubs in between the sensors and Alexa. Minimise the hops/points of failure/fussing about. The Aqara motion sensors have started working again this last week through the Mi Home Alexa skill, but I did not enjoy the month or so of turning lights on and off manually like some sort of medieval peasant ;)

    • Yeah, I also received that email

  • +1

GeekBuying have been able to secure more E1 stock so that'll go to those who have received the email.

    • Hopefully they can get even more for those who haven't yet ordered :)
