If you ever want to upgrade the video card down the track you will most likely need a higher wattage PSU. It would have been a good deal with a 750w.

I don't need the PSU, I only need the GPU, bloody Retailer.

Retailers using the GPU shortage to get rid of merchandise they can't sell. Honestly, computer retailers are the new car salesmen of the world.

      • Look on the bright side. At least those power supplies probably won't explode :)

          Probably is a good bet
It's a 10 year warrenty and it's basically a rebadged seasonic GX with a few tweaks

@TheXylis: Just so you know, I'm referring to how Newegg bundled GPUs with Gigabyte P750GM or P850GMs and how they exploded.

From what we've heard over this whole saga, this is basically just BPC passing on what's being done to them by the distributor. Not sure what the situation is now, but at one point it was rumoured the distributors were making retailers buy 5+ other branded items just to access 1 GPU.

I noticed BPC in particular were selling the EVGA Z15 keyboard and X15 mice for what seemed like cost price, which I assumed was down to the same thing. Heck, you can still get the Z15 for $69 delivered, while it's RRP is $169, and it's $159 at PLE

Wouldn't surprise me, it happens in the liquor industry a lot too.

      • In a way that is correct. However, in a forum i read last year (forget which site) the retailers had to buy X-amount (pallet or 50) of mobo or psu to be able to buy 6 or so gpu's to sell. That was why last year there was a HEAP of cheap mobo's and psu's being sold. But when something is in a package, most people already have the other item and then becomes a waste or pointless to have. A higher wattage psu would be better to bundle.

It's not the retailers fault, I think its more the brand pushing combos, i have a distributor who for every 30 series gpu you have to get 2 other products. All gigabyte gear

  • Will this PSU good enough for this 3070 GPU?

    • +1

Almost certainly, unless you are overclocking and/or have a high wattage CPU (something like Intel xx900 series) and lots of case fans etc. GPU itself draws around 240W peak.

TechPowerUp recommend a 600W PSU for the 3070

    • Good to know Thx! Worry it will blow up haha

I would be flipping that PSU seeing as it's like the minimum you'd want to run with a 3070, like only 150W of headroom unless you start overclocking then you might want something beefier. Not likely you'd be able to take that PSU to your next build.

The 3070 really isn't that power hungry.. you could probably get away with a good quality 500W (not recommending - just saying). At peak it needs about 16-21A on the 12V. A good 500W power supply will easily supply that with room left over for everything else.

      https://www.newegg.com/tools/power-supply-calculator/ puts it at minimum 450W with a 5600X, SSD + 5400RPM drive.
