Selling Alcohol (eBay, Marketplace, etc)

I’ve got some old unopened bottles of booze that I am not going to drink. I am looking to sell them, but I most of the usual places ban the sale of alcohol.

Other than drinking it myself, pouring it down the sink or gifting others, does anyone know where I could post it for sale?

I’ve got one particular bottle that is no longer available and would probably be worth around $300.

Pour down sink, then 10c bottle refund.

    • The empty bottle is selling on eBay for anywhere between $70-$150

      • Theres your answer.

  • Marketplace? Wonder how closely it’s monitored

Alochol is banned on FB marketplace. You can post it but usually gets taken down quickly.

@ Jimothy Wongingtons. Very closely. I had an ad taken down within a few seconds because I'd not followed their guidelines closely enough.

Wait outside your bottle-o and offer it to customers walking in.

I’ll make sure it is dark and wear a hoodie

Without a liquor license, it's only a matter of a short period of time before Mods/Admin gets notified and the ad will be taken down.

A possible ban might be the outcome.

I personally like the idea of gifting it. A family friend gave me a bottle of Port they’d been holding onto since I was born. Giving something that’s not just off the shelf/one of a kind can be a really nice gesture.

Not sure about the rules regarding selling, I’ve seen people sell old wines on Grays Online, but have no idea what’s involved with that.

Part of the reason why alcohol gets regifted so often

May be you can indirectly post an Ad and sell it.. Like you did it here ;)

    • He should of asked people to PM him ways to sell it

Auctions. But need to ask as auction houses have various licences depending on their preferences (wine/spirits only, all alcohol etc).

They will also be able to give you a valuation. If an AH has a general liquor licence, they will be more inclined to take everyday lots.

  • What quantity do you have? Less than 2 dozen or heaps?

  • Ill give you $10 for your expensive bottle of "colored water"

The best place to sell without liquor license would be : https://www.australianwhiskyauctions.com.au/

    • Tha ks for this..some very rare past sales on that site.
Hakushu 2021 Spanish Oak sold for $2605. That's crazy..would love to have a drop of that!

Langton's auctions sell liquor for commission, have successfully sold wine through them before.

Valuations here (it says 'Search our wines' but works for any type of liquor).

I do buy and sell some through Langtons. Would be the biggest in the country owned by Endevour (formerly Woolies).

Other suggestions, though I have only ever bought from them (not sold):

      Wickmans - https://www.wickman.net.au/
      Oddbins - https://www.oddbins.com.au/home

      Hope that helps.

      Cheers

Post it on Gum Tree under Miscellaneous section. I have sold alcohol there before.
