Diablo 3 (Physical Copy) - $47.81 at WOW HD (Today Only)

330

WOW HD is offering 13% off site wide for today only (Friday the 13th) which makes a boxed copy of Diablo III just $47.81.

Note that it's likely you'll receive it days/weeks after release. If you want to play the game on the day of release, a digital download (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/67632) is probably your best bet.

Edit: Giving credit where credit is due. I've just been made aware that this is related to the deal posted by glam77 (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/67789). Evil-Elmo also noted the cheap Diablo III.

  • is it australian copy?

    • It's a European copy, but won't make a difference at the end of the day. Gameplay is region free and RMAH is tied to the region of your Battle.net account.

      • thats good news! this saves me extra $$$!!! i was going to get this from harvey norman.

      • Region-free are you sure? Starcraft was not like that… Your server depended on the region your game was bought in. ie, Only those who bought an aussie/asian version have access SEA (south east asia) servers, while you had to buy a European key/game to play on the European server, etc…

        • +2

Yes, I'm sure. Blizzard has publicly confirmed that the game is region free.

What region will I play in?
Diablo III is a global game. Players can choose to play on game servers based in the Americas, Europe, or Asia, regardless of what region they are connecting from. Certain restrictions apply. Further details will be posted on the Diablo III Community Site prior to release.

Note: your game-client version does not hinder your ability to select which regional game servers – the Americas, Europe, or Asia – that you play on.

        • i googled and found this:

          "You can play anywhere
You can use Gold AH of any region
But you can only use the RMAH of your choosen region.

If you live in Europe, and choose Europe to be "your server", you can still play with americans, still see / use american gold AH offers, but the RMAH is region locked for you, EU only."

but it doesnt explain our situation that Australians buy from EU and use an account linked to "Australian server"(SEA). Can we still use the Real Money auction house in Australia instead of EU? any more solid confirmation??? please.

        • -1

Australia will use NA servers and will thus be tied with American RMAH

Edit: But if you buy a EU copy you will connect to EU servers for RMAH

        • +1

If you buy Diablo 3, you are just buying Diablo 3, you can play wherever you want. So you guys get to choose. Now what we will do is we will lock you down to a specific auction house, so for example if you are a European national you would have access to the European auction house. You will still be able to play in North America. You can participate in the gold auction house if you want, but you can only participate in the real money auction house of your native country [editor note: region]. [Another example] North American citizen, play anywhere, participate in the gold auction house anywhere, but the RMAH only in North America.

The RMAH you get locked to is based on your battle.net account settings, not the country of origin of your purchase.

        • Pretty much what I said, but still got downvoted..

      • Would the Euro one effects the equipment purchase, found this but still not very sure:

Will there be separate auction houses in each region? Will I be allowed to bid on items from players outside my own region?
Due to various factors, including technology, language, and currency, there will be multiple separate auction houses serving different player communities around the world. We'll share specific details on how the auction houses will work for each region as we get closer to launch.

If I live in Australia/New Zealand/Southeast Asia, what server will I play Diablo III on?
Diablo III players in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia will, by default, connect to the Americas region. By connecting to this region, players will have a wider pool of people to play with and access to a more vibrant and active auction house marketplace. Further details on regional connection options and auction house functionality will be posted at www.diablo3.com prior to release.

How does this impact the items I have purchased in the auction house?
Auction house purchases are bound to the servers in the region in which they're bought. Any items acquired on game servers in the Americas region are bound to those servers and are not transferrable to the servers in Europe or Asia (and vice versa). Please keep this in mind when making purchases in the auction house. We’ll release more details on the auction house functionality prior to the game’s release.

        • As far as I can tell, you will add the key to your battle.net account and then your battle.net account information will determine the RMAH you are locked to.

So where you buy the game from has no bearing on the servers you can and cant play on (since you can play on any) nor which RMAH you have access to (since it's determined by your battle.net account settings).

        • if so, why not just buy the game from those russian cdkey places?

        • voter1: Some of those stores have sold illegitimate keys in the past, which has resulted in people's accounts getting banned. Probably not something you'll want to deal with just to save a few more dollars.

        • oh i see. is there a limit on how many characters you can play on the one account? eg. same battle net account - unlimited characters? so its possible to share the game with family members?

        • voter1: You can certainly create multiple characters on the same account. Only downside to sharing one account with your family is that you'll never be able to play cooperatively with each other.

        • @voter1: I think the character limit for D3 is 8. Also, the characters have a shared stash which is different to D2.

        • RMAH is just bound to region, and you can choose any region with any copy of the game.

    1st deal - negged more the +
2nd deal - stolen from other post

You could have at least given credit to the OOP

    • +1

Huh? What are you talking about?

        • +4

OK, in all honesty, I never even saw this. The OzBargain submission page never told me about it when I created this deal.

I was made aware of the 13% off deal by a WOW HD newsletter that appeared in my inbox. No stealing here. I'll update the OP accordingly and give credit to glam77, Evil-Elmo.

        • I would never have checked that it included a Pre-Ordered Games.

      • hey svale, dont worry about him. thanks for your post. otherwise i wont know such a low price from a copy of d3.

  • Thanks for this, placed my order.

  • +1

Damn, ordered this a few days ago, should've waited. ><

  • WowHD have had Diablo 3 cheaper before. I ordered mine for $40.76 from them about a month ago.

    • It was unlisted a month ago, they took it down for a while. :\

  • Thanks, Just ordered a copy. I don't mind waiting a week or two.

  • Slightly off the bargain topic but does someone here know off-hand if this game will be subscription based like WOW or free play online? From what I'm aware it's 100% online based, right? I loved Diablo 1 and to a lesser extent 2 but I refuse to pay to play an online game.

    • +1

Yeh no subscription required. Just the once off purchase price.

    • +2

Buy once, play forever. There are no subscription fees.

The only additional spend is in the real-money auction house where you can buy/sell items with real money, but this is completely optional.

  • what is the cheapest place to buy limited edition??

  • For all those interested, you can still pre-order the Collector's edition @ MLN.
    http://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=3728

    • know if it's an aussie copy and guaranteed that they'll actually have it in stock?

      • Not totally sure if they can make good on the preorder, but they're pretty much the last place in Aus that you can still order the Collector's edition from.

Dunno if SCEA version either, but I did get a confirmation email stating that I'd receive my order by the 18th of May, so I'm assuming hopefully is.

        • thanks, was curious cause i'd be waiting a while if it wasn't an aus copy, and getting d3 asap is best :P

  • Anyone knows when will wow dispatch it?

Basically this copy's cd-key, you can register it into either the NA or EU battle.net account.

If you want the NA RMAH, choose to register it into NA, otherwise put it into Eu server.

Only RMAH matters to the cd-key's registered server, there's no limitation on which server you can connect to play.

    • It'll take ~2weeks to get to you.

You can use this key on a SEA account too.

  • Purchased. Let's see how long after release until it arrives. Hopefully just long enough for all the initial bugs to be ironed out.

  • If the limited edition dropped under $120 perhaps it would be tempting but i'm happy enough with a physical copy at this price. I bought it with crysis: maximum ed while i was there for $60.07 inc shipping to Sydney metro. I was pleasantly suprised they accepted paypal payments as well since I have some sitting cash from ebay sales on there.

  • received mine yesterday

    • Good on you! I still havent received mine :( hopefully sooon…

      • +1

        Just got mine today (24th).
