This previous post has a great review from Oct 2021 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/654916). I have not used one myself (yet), but been waiting for some time to see offers on the product, and these comments are a def encouragement to purchase.
So far as stock (always seem to get snapped up fast once appears on OzB), all Syd south stores near me show as available.
Go go go.

    • ones like that Rebel model (and the red 'Rugged' item from BCF) have the single centred connection point between the pull-handle and the base units.. to me, it seems that would be a potential weak point when you're dragging it around, esp with the ~100kg weight capacity suggested.
The Quad on other hand has the pull-handle mounted in two places at the top of the wheel joints…. happy to be corrected by a Science-person, but i reckon that'll be stronger. It could be argued that this is not worth the extra $30 on its own of course.

        It has good reviews.

an engineer might provide better advice.

      • Previous comments on the BCF carts indicate that the blue cart is more comfortable over smooth surfaces and folds up into a smaller package but red cart is more durable

        Even better…

  • Anyone seen one with fat wheels for soft sand? I’ve seen one that had roughly double width to the wagon advertised the other day (possibly the one JV linked to)

    • Have pushed this on soft sand with 50kg load, uses a bit of effort but doesn’t get bogged at all

If it's anything like 4WDing in the sand, you don't want fat wheels, but tall wheels.

        true…

  • Kmart one is $49 is just as good. Had one for over a year now.

    • For heavy use, the KMart one only has half the rated weight capacity

Its all BS, dont read too much into it the KG rating is just a guide. Can easily tractor more than 50kg in the Kmart one, no problem.

Whether you can drag a ton of weight on soft sand at the beach or not, id say it would be difficult regardless but that would be the same with any of these things (rated 100kg or not) unless you get something with FWD type tires which is clearly not this one

Have this cart and can recommend it. Unlike many others it folds up nice and tight, wheels come off and the base of the cart pulls out and folds around the folded up cart, it ends up quite compact to pack away. The wheels are actually huge and the photo's don't do it justice, so much bigger than the kmart ones. Pulls through the sand well, haven't really had issues with soft sand but I think any of these carts are going to struggle going through sand that is that soft that makes it difficult to walk in.

Yeah agree with everything you’ve said. Used ours at the beach for the first time on Sunday and it was awesome. Very smooth and easy to manoeuvre. Forgot how to fold it back up so just dumped the whole the whole thing into the back of the car lol

Agree with these comments. I also get a lot of positive comments about this cart as it looks and feels much more sturdy than most others being pulled around.

    • Agreed. The 'quad-fold' was the major selling point for me. It's literally half the size when folded. And it's very easy to do.

  • Is this a great deal though? Seen it for cheaper before. Would be frothing at <$100 but feels like $119.99 should be the RRP. The $169.99 feels like they are just taking the piss

    • No its too hefty. you can get a similar one at kmart for 49 bucks. The wheels dont come off tho but if that not an issue then i cant justify paying 70 buck more for pretty much the same thing

    • not worth the price IMO… i have this and im more than happy with it. $79.99 currently

      • Have you used it at the beach?

        • +1

Yes i have. Multiple times. See my comment below.

I use it fishing and going on picnics at the park also.

  • how does it compare to the spotlight one?

    https://www.spotlightstores.com/home/life-and-leisure/beach-…

    • that actually looks pretty decent - big fat wheels too. Pity there arent more images or any reviews though

    • Doesn't look half bad for $52. Dont know nay one that has one - could be junk or small (website has stuff all details)

    • I talked to someone the other day who had the spotlight one but upgraded to the BCF due to the spotlight one being flimsy.

  • Bought this a year ago.

Things to consider, this is a very sturdy and heavy cart, brilliant on tar and hard surface and places with a little sand.
However if you are a big beach person this cart if it gets filled up will be a struggle to pull through soft sand. I am not a small guy and if my 2 year old sits inside with some towels and an esky I have to summon the gods for strength.
The ones with the big fat plastic wheels are massively better suited for the beach and are a lot lighter allowing the better half to pull it also.

  • anyone know if the wheels between the 2 x BCF models are interchangeable- Rugged <> Quad?

  • +1

Myself and many friends (5 of us) have the Tahwalhi Rugged Beach Cart from Rebel which we've had since last summer. Love it!

As per others comments, i wouldn't want to load it too much and pull through soft sand because any cart would struggle. I find that its good to just chuck everything in and saves multiple trips especially if you have a beach tent, esky, swimming gear/toys etc… Also, when going to a local beach here in S.A. there isn'ttoo much distance to pull through soft sand so its fine for me. If i have to pull through soft sand i go straight out to the waters edge to where the sand is harder and then walk down to what ever spot i like.

So far no issues with the handle with the single point of attachment. Good luck and happy 4WD'ving in your beach cart!!
