[HACK] Zinger Crunch Burger Combo $8.75 (Save $2.20) + Free Extra Regular Side (E.g. Reg Chips) @ KFC via App

2200

Figured out this hack yesterday, was about to buy a Zinger Crunch Combo and then thought there might be a better way, so here's a better way, plus you get an extra side this way too. If you add a second reg chips they'll normally just give you a large, otherwise potato and gravy's a good option. Steps:

  1. Open KFC App, press Order Now and choose your store.
  2. Select Colonel's Offers
  3. Press the "Edit" button on the Burger Combo Deluxe (the edit button looks like a little pencil)
  4. Change Original Recipe to Zinger and press the edit button again for the burger.
  5. Under "Recipe" remove Mayo, under "Extras" add Jalapeno Mayo (free), add Cheese ($0.50), add Corn Chips ($0.50), add Crunchy Slaw ($0.30).
  6. Select your extra side (if you go for chips, might I recommend adding extra chicken salt)
  7. Add to your order for $8.75 (prices may vary slightly from store to store)
  8. Checkout, pick up and enjoy!

EDIT: It's since been pointed out by a few people that this is an old hack. I guess true ozbargainers rediscover old hacks for themselves much like Newton discovered calculus after Leibniz.

Can't use this hack if KFC have no chicken

    This hack was shared previously

Oh how good! Didn't even realise– well I guess it's back then :)

      • +2

Don't think it ever expired. Have always gotten it.

        Still a great deal though.

  • +12

I live for this gaming of the system.

  • +3

    Old news, but good news.

  • Great mind think alike. This hack has been previously posted in November last year.

  • +1

They still have potato and gravy?

    • Yup

  • +16

“might I recommend adding extra chicken salt)”

    +1 to this OP.

    • I thought it was already so salty….

      • +1

I agree. I'm often tempted to ask for less or no salt and do it myself. Clearly it depends on store

      • +8

really depends on the person salting.. at times it's salty at times it's unsalted.

        KFC chips are not consistent.

        • +2

i would prefer unsalted than oversalted
          so
no way im gonna ask for extra salt

        • +1

What I've seen happen is someone comes along and does a big batch of chips, salts the chips for an order then walks off, someone else come along and resalt the batch for the next order…

    • +2

I always add extra on one and standard on the other. That way you get 2 x small chips vs 1 x large. And the small packs stay crispier and of course easier to split.

      • My store never does this, they just give you a large, I suppose you could ask and specify though

    • +1

my doc said my blood pressure is already at its limits…

      • +2

Then maybe take out a good life insurance policy before your trip to KFC.

    • +44

Done! Yes, I too often get Zinger burgers from Red Rooster. :)

      • +4

I looked everywhere in the Macca's app and then realise I wasn't searching for McZinger. Got it! ;-)

  • +3

Saving $2.20 is going to make rich .

    • +12

Many small money make big money

      • But you’re also paying $8.75

        • +4

Your at the wrong site. At the ozbargain site, we have to spend money to save money.

    • +14

What website do you think you're on?

    • +10

46.70 as average? you think the average aussie makes 97k?

      • Sadly, this is what the stats say. I was shocked when I saw it. The OH and I thought, we have a waaaaaaaaaay to go before we get to 97k. What do you think?

      • Seems like it to me

      • +2

It's generally better to find the median, I think. That way it's not skewed by some massive incomes at the far end of the scale.

    • +3

      Is this Joe Hockey's account?

    • +12

Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. That's why I browse Ozbargain on company time!

    • +1

I think it took me all of 30 seconds.

      Plus the free extra side.

    • +2

How many minutes did it take you to think and write that post?

Coz it was worth less than $0.78.

    • I don't buy KFC while working at my desk. I believe at the end of my work day I'm no longer being paid. It's at this point, I start to do the spending of money. It is here I try and reduce this "spend".

      Lmao @$97k average.

Lmao @being high and mighty on OZBARGAIN. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you saw a link for a zinger burger, clicked on it and wasted 2.8 minutes posting, so…

  • +2

remember to ask for feedback free chips and drink too

    • How do you get the FB drink/chips when you buy via the app? Don't you need a receipt?

      • Physical receipt with the survey validation code written down, or screenshot of completed survey on phone.

Or just say you've done the survey and maybe they won't ask for proof.

        • and when they do ask proof?

          • @capslock janitor: always have a screenshot of a previous one handy. That's what I do anyway.
Just create one now: Store#1310, Receipt# anything (eg 4021), Date/Time, Yesterday

These work well, sometimes. You're putting your faith in the ppl at kfc to make it correctly, which in my experience can be very hit and miss. It's fine if you've got the time to check and get it remade..

    • +1

I did this "hack" a few weeks ago and was really good.

  • who says KFC uses chicken salt?

    • When I used to work there over 20yrs ago, their "secret salt" was just onion salt. I doubt it's changed since then.

  • Damn i want want some the coloniels greesy special for lunch, but i think i have dinner plans.

Tbh the crunchy slaw and jalapeno mayo make the burger, can do without the cheese and chips.

  • Been doing this for a while. Pretty good deal.

  • +4

Newton published calculus after Leibniz, Newton may have discovered calculus earlier but kept it to himself, Leibniz had a better notation. Yes always good to publish these hack again as it doesn't hurt to remind ozbargainers.

    • +6

I was waiting for someone to appreciate this.

      • +2

I do appreciate your post. I never used this hack so I always forget how to use it. I mainly buy the 4.95 Lunch special. Next time when the lunch special is not available, I will search for Newton ozbargain and I can find your post easily!

        • +3

hahaha from now on I'll tag all my posts with a famous mathematician so people can find it easily. Next up, let me tell you about how the prices are so low, they're irreducible… much like the polynomials studied by one Galois.

          • @djthornton: Any good video on Galois to share? BTW, I just tried it on app, same price if not remove lettuce and mayo.

            • +1

@htc: I can safely say I was not expecting a calculus debate on OzBargain!

    • OP asked for extra chicken salt on Newton.

    • Whats the difference between calculus and algebra?

  • nice op. I was always a fan of the 7.45 combo but didnt realise i could edit it into a zinger cruch burger.
Now if only there was a hack for twisters! i love them but need two of those b******* to feel full

    • From memory, the zinger option did not offer customisation when this hack was first posted last year. I have been ordering the original with supercharged sauce.

      • Yeah you could. I’ve always been able to customise the zinger burger in this deal.

  • If you get the family burger meal, it can be had for $6.79 per burger meal (Burger, chips, drink)…No gravy but you get 2 extra large sides with the survey

    • so if you are 3+ people ordering…this is better way

  • Anyone else sick of the staff refusing to do the chips/drink survey redemption because you've ordered via app? They make the manager come over every time because it's "in store only"

  • last 2 times I ordered zinger burger / zinger crunch bowl, they were out of the zinger patties and replaced with double fillet burger with no refund of the balance…

  • Up vote for the entertaining copy

  • -1

app only deal does zinger burger, 2 sides and a drink for $7.45

  • You can also add supercharged sauce to the burger at no extra cost :)

  • Even better, add 2 dashes of Jalapeno mayo…I really wish they start selling it in tubs, it's very tasty

  • +2

    LMAO just got this

2 pieces of corn chips for 50c lolololol

    • You can remove the corn chips. The 2nd free side still lives on. :)

      • +1

lol yeah I was just saying I got it and it was hilarious just 2 pieces of corn chips for 50c lmao

I would of thought at least a couple of corn chips

        • That's how they make their money. It's sad, ey.

  • I ditch the pota and g for another chips.

    Extra salt.

    • I'd rather dip the chips in the P&G

  • I don't see Burger Combo Deluxe in Colonels Offers. Also my KFC seems to have ran out of chicken.

    • BCD is still on the app according to my app

      • I ended up paying full price. I swear this is the day I stop wasting money on fast food delivery..

  • When you change the 2nd side from potato & gravy to a 2nd chips they will upsize your chips to a large one.
