This thread serves to let everyone know how much you have saved on your 7/11 fuel app. Please see the archived thread (January 2017 - January 2022) for previous discussions.

Step 1: Subscribe to this thread to get email updates. You can change your subscription settings in your Ozbargain account to enable more/less email updates.

Step 2: Upon filling up simply fill in the details in this format:

  • NAME OF 7/11 STORE

    Can anyone confirm if interstate locks are going through at the fuel station? Or accounts are getting locked on interstae locks. I am able to lock WA cheapest fuel but dont want my account to be banned if used in Vic

        I read somewhere that at the station the bar code doesnt go through and your account starts getting A01 as the detect that the code has been used in Vic with the fuel locked for WA

        All good. Here is what I did.
        -Locked WA price 3 or 4days ago on a pc with NordVPN on an iPhone .
        -VPN off. Scan 7/11 card on the Iphone at shop to complete the payment.
        Just checked, account is not banned. YMMV. Best of luck!

        - locking in same state
        - using mobile tether instead of wifi (don't have vpn to test with)
        - Zygisk - LSPosed
        - Tried using GPS setter and the inbuild AS mock location

          Yes, just locked in E10 for a mate(I wouldn't use that sh't in my car) for 179.9 on W11 running Android studio Pixel $ Tiramisu as per the guide.

          Yes. I have a device setup with Android Studio as per the guide. It was setup and has been working since June/July 2023. I still spoof the location, but as of a few months ago, I only lock prices from the same state.

          Have you tried changing your AVD's ID using "Device ID Changer"?

    just wondering which of the 4 android options still work and would be the easiest to set up. Havent locked since they updated the iOS app and made my iphone useless to the 7/11 app

    Does someone have a new guide on how to use the Android studio way with a VPN ?

    Because right now it seems even with Shamiko, Universal Safetynet fix and zygisk, its not working erroring with A01.

    Currently my Magisk is 25.2 and I don't actually know how to update it. I tried "update" but it breaks the magisk saying some error about flashing it to make it work.

        Strangely I cannot even do a lock on iphone - no vpn - no fake location still A01.

        Interested if you have the same results?

        Perhaps their servers are down or somthing?

          I tried with my no-root Android phone and it worked with no errors. So I think they upgraded their root detecting.

            @whjheu: Could I ask how you did the no-root? Perhaps thats why people are usling Shamiko to hide root / magisk stuff. Tbh my current set up definitely breaches safety net using YASNAC.

            Anyone else using the guide by @dontpanic has manage to pass the safety net?

              @postform: No, no-root phone I mean that's my normal phone that is not rooted, no VPN and no fake GPS. I tried with this phone to confirm it's not a 7-11 system error.

              I use another rooted phone with Migsk + Shamiko + LSposed (GPS Setter and Hide App list) + VPN to lock the price. It worked well until I tried it today. Don't know how to fix it yet. My device can pass the safety net test as well as the first two play integrity checks.

                Maybe check that all the apps in your setup are up-to-date and try again without the VPN?

                  @thangcuoi: Hey @thangcuoi do you mind sharing your current spec? And roughly how you did it. Because I'm struggling to update the magisk to v27 which is the latest using the tool that @dontpanic suggest to use. It keeps installing 25.2 and breaks everytime I try to update it using the magisk update button

                    @postform: I'm using a Mi Pad 4 and Essential Phone.

                    The Essential Phone was only setup recently. From memory, I sideloaded the Magisk apk after renaming the file to zip. Might have to follow the prompt within the Magisk app (something about direct patch) and restarted the device a few times.

                    Shamiko seem to be the key. Would not work without it.

                    The instructions below are from Lineage installation wiki

                    if you only need it to install Magisk. Just use the Lineage recovery, “Apply Update”, then “Apply from ADB” , then on the host PC:

                    adb sideload Magisk-v27.zip

                    Then reboot system and install the Magisk Manager app like normal.

    Tried on my old rooted Pixel 3 and same error occurs - so at least we know it's not something specific to Android Studio. It's obviously detecting root somehow.

      Mine has been working fine the whole time…

      Only issues is the 25 cent cap…

      It works out very often that going to Coles Express and using the 8 cents off works out cheaper… (bonus is they make better coffee too and the coffee lid is not made of cardboard…)

    Folks, I conducted several tests on the same phone I have, which was rooted and set up following @Korban Dallas's instructions:

    1. I disabled the GPS setter (without setting a location, while keeping the app installed), turned off the VPN, used my actual GPS location and IP, and managed to lock in without any error. This test confirmed that the rooted phone is capable of passing the app's verification process.

    2. I activated the GPS setter to WA, turned on the VPN (using PIA) to WA, and encountered an A01 error.

    3. I enabled the GPS setter to the lowest price location in NSW, my state, and used my actual IP (with the VPN turned off), and I could lock in without any error. This way, I secured the lowest price in the state.

    Based on these tests, it is most likely that the error originates from the VPN. Determining whether a user's IP address originates from a VPN provider is not difficult. Many sites and apps that are sensitive to copyright issues do not permit connections via VPNs.

    Could someone outside of NSW establish a VPN server using their ISP's IP address? This would allow us to test and determine if the issue originates from commercial VPN services.

    IOS: just locked in. Had to NordVPN to the same state as the cheapest U91 at time of locking in and then Ifakelocation. After searching for cheapest price, turned both VPN and Ifakelocation off and managed to bypass the A01 error.
    Hopefully I can redeem this lock before I get a ban haha

      Yeah, not having any luck with VPN on or off, or in state locking either.

      Thankfully my local Metro station is basically the same price as a lock these days - I generally only use the fuel lock to top up when I'm low on fuel in the north shore or heading out of Sydney (Nowra, Newcastle, Lithgow)… but with the 25c limit, even that's become less appealing.

        Do you think the quality of Metro petrol is the same as the major brands (Shell, 7/11, Caltex, etc)?
        I've always had a perception, rightly or wrongly, that the Independent's petrol was inferior due to dilution. I have to use premium for my car so I use 98 mostly.

          It's all the same. It's all imported anyway. Where along the supply chain do you think they have the opportunity to dilute it? And why take the risk? The fines and class action litigation would bankrupt them.

    With the price capping, when the price jumps (-> 50 cents) I find it's cheaper to go to the cheapest/local/non 7-eleven station than to use the cheapest price lock. Due to the price capping, I end up paying 20-25c more than the cheapest local station. This happened to me when it was first introduced, and I learned to no longer solely fill up at 7-Eleven, esp just after the price jumps.

    still getting a01 error trying to lock -no vpn same state, so 7-11 doing themselves a disservice as they missed out on my business and at this rate will probably accelerate my decision to an electric car in the future

    Worked on iOS (iPhone 8 iOS 16.6): I deleted and re-downloaded 7-11 app, then logged in and set ifakelocation on Windows 11 to cheapest suburb and then set NordVPN to Bris/Syd/Mel/Perth as corresponding to the suburb set in ifakelocation, then selected fuel type and clicked search. After cheapest price is showing, goto NordVPN app to turn NordVPN off and stop ifakelocation on Windows 11. Then finally click lock-in fuel price. Logged out and deleted app and reinstalled to repeat process for multiple accounts. This really worked thank you sleepingpanda :)

      update to progress: Sometimes when my iPhone is connected to internet on WiFi, when the cheapest fuel price has been loaded and then stopping VPN and ifakelocation, going back to the app makes the iOS location access permission pop up again, so another way that worked for me is to just stop ifakelocation when the cheapest price has been shown and locking it in while keeping the VPN active.

      too complicated.

      1. use ifakelocation on Windows 11 to cheapest suburb, turn on nordvpn to the same state. After cheapest price is showing, don't click on anything
      2. stop ifakelocation on Windows 11, leave the nordvpn on
      3. click on set the price.
      4. Done

    Does it even make sense to use thes locks anymore as max 25cents really is not making this worth the hassle anymore for me personally.

      You may find it still useful when you need to travel between. States and all the petrol station is 50 cents more than what you have locked and you still save 25 cents per litre as everywhere else is 50 cents more, this work specially in the regional town where it is more isolated.

        Thanks. In Melb, locked 1.86 when price is 2.35 so best I can get is 2.10.. I ended up filling up at united for 1.87 anyway.

        Clearly 7-11 has lost quite a lot of business as I travel a bit daily.

        But thanks for the input

        It does seem so… I have linkt 4c+flubuys 4c…
        Don’t usually buy anything in store (express) so don’t get the addt discounts.
