Can’t bring myself to support Luxottica and their practices.

How badly are we being ripped off on eyewear? Former industry execs tell all

Oakley have the worst quality lenses. The prism lenses scratch unbelievably easy. Cheap shit made by a scumbag company.

      • plastic lenses , you know they will scratch …. i buy ray bans with glass lenses, can break if dropped, but like a phone screen, if not dropped much more more durable than plastic …..

does this mean we can buy from china?
like fleabay some damm decent lenses and frames?

    • Where do you buy your shades? I stopped wanting to supporting Luxottica a long ago :(

Read as Oakley foreskins also. No thanks.

  • Damn they are ugly. How about that price for the black ones?

Tell me you're a douchebag without telling me you're a douchebag….. Puts on white frame sunglasses 😂

  • How many DUI charges are included in the base price thx

  • Looks like the white ones aren't selling

It is criminal how cheap the frames of these feel. They're like a supersized version of novelty sunglasses you'd receive in a Christmas Bon Bon.

OP’s name is Luxottica which means they make no attempt to hide the fact that Oakley, Rayban, and 99% of these so-called “designer frames” are made by the same company, in the same factories in China, by the same underpaid workers.

      • +4

actually interesting a lot of luxotica frames for the market outside of china are made in italy, most of my raybans are made in italy, only a couple of frames are china 2/10 pairs.

my persols are all made in italy, not sure about the plastic lens brand like oakley where made.

only issue i have with luxotica is after 2 years they don’t fix sunglasses, and they don’t sell spare lenses so it is buy a new pair approach …… so scratch these plastic lenses they won’t sell replacements …..

Made in Italy by the same Chinese workers as at home.

Disgrace! I wore Oakley Frogskins early 90s, most Oakley I could afford, but they looked a whole lot better than these white frames. Pretty sure there were no white frames back then. Sooo many VL Commodores with Oakley stickers on the windshield and the odd Wankley sticker too.

ahhh the 90s, aussie cars, chicko rolls, audio cassettes in cars and you could afford to buy your first home on an average wage …..

    • …and Bad Boy stickers.

      • Was going to mention the BB stickers…. on everything, not just Commodores.

  • I still have my Oakley Frogskins from the 90's, they weren't white though… thankfully.

  • Considering replacement lenses are $75 you’re only paying $16.50 to get a spare frame as well.

  • Never liked Oakley cause of their ugly and flamboyant designs, but this one ain't so bad actually. Nice shape and colour for a change.
