    Have xbox dropped the thing where it needs payment from the country where you got Gold from? I tried this trick with a Brazilian game pass card. Used a VPN, loaded it to my account no worries and got three years of Gold. When I tried to upgrade to Ultimate, it rejected my PayPal and credit card saying currency must match the country Gold was activated in.

      I did this but with Brazilian codes, once the gold codes have been activated, disable any VPN & login again as normal (ir from Australia). Then upgrade to GPU.

    Bought 3 years only to get "You currently have a subscription from a different region. If it still doesn't work, please contact customer support." when trying to activte the ultimate
    Cant even subscribe to gamepass at all now too :( VPN was turned off for last step

        Oh, would it be an issue if you aren't using PayPal? I don't have a PayPal account, since they asked me for personal information that I didn't want to hand out to them (stuck with a frozen account)

      Does this come up when you enter the codes, or try to upgrade to XGPU? I think I had a similar issue for the upgrading part, but I had accidentally entered the codes into the US coupon page. So I had to upgrade to XGPU with a US payment method, or use a US XGPU digital code (I got it one off Amazon).

      If it's only a week or so out from expiry then you can still buy it now and then just load the codes into your xbox account later (I'd personally be a bit hesitant from waiting too long though).

      Though FWIW this site always has it for the same price anyway, code gives you a discount of $4.40 so worst case scenario you wait for your expiration date and pay an extra $4 per year.

      They likely got rid of it, but in the day I believe there was some restrictions on how many trials can be used on a console over it's lifetime. Don't remember any specifics so it may not be relevant at all, but it would seem wise to try to stop this sort of abuse.

      I'm getting the same thing. Activated the 36 months OK, but asking $15 per month for Ultimate upgrade. Tried both uprade link above and the link from within my xbox subscriptions.

    1.Normal browser no vpn on
    2.Purchase Xbox live from eneba using my PayPal
    3.Turn on windscribe vpn turkey Istanbul
    4.Go to redeem.Microsoft.com and sign into my Australian Xbox account
    5.Enter the Xbox live code and redeem it
    6.Turn off vpn

          for some reason, I'm getting the same result as WhiteEvo6, instead of asking for a one off payment of $1 or $15, it is asking for $15 each month. Not sure if the loophole has been closed, or if its just a couple of us with issues. I don't really need Ultimate (playing on PC), but i'd like it.

            You need to pay the $15.95 to upgrade that to gamepass as I read but that should just be a one off fee of $15.95 tho

After you go to the game pass ultimate landing page linked above, if you click on 1 month upgrade for $15.95 it will bring up a dialogue box that gives you calculation of when your next payment will be due based on how long you have xbox live subscription for (for example - if you have 36 months subscription your next payment will be due around Jan 2025).

    For those like me that had $15 per month, this is correct. The wording is just a little confusing. I clicked continue and paid the $15, I figured worst case I'll just cancel it after a month

    The key is to read the details :)

    When you click on "Join $15 per month", the first screen comes up and says this

    Joining Xbox Game pass ultimate will upgrade your remaining xbox live gold to ultimate at a current conversion ratio.

    Then it says, and this is the important part

    Your new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate renewal date will be: 31/01/2025

    If I then click on continue, it says you will be charged $15 per month which is correct, it will charge you $15 per month, at your renewal date above, so in my case in 3 years.

    Just to confirm I have clicked join for $15 per month and my subscription shows I am upgraded to ultimate until 31/01/2025. Make sure you disable auto renew in your subscription so you dont get a $15 in 3 years
