Looking promising but don't do it. Don't give them your money before release.
    Edit: Pack is definitely different

    • +16

True. I dont even know why people preoder games like this. First, it never becomes OOS. Second, nobody can be confident about quality (even the studios dont 😂)

      • +7

reddit is such a shitshow, one week its REMEMBER BOYS - NO PREODERS

today after a quick 2 min trailer everyones back on the hypetrain and saying what a good org EA is for.. checks notes - not charging Switch 2 game prices

BF5 had a good trailer too and look how that shit went. Lets see how the beta for this goes first

        • +1

Well from the comments you can see most people here are not on that train 😂

        • -1

BF5 had a good trailer too and look how that shit went. Lets see how the beta for this goes first

You mean 2042 right? BFV had one of the worst pre launch marketing campaigns I'd ever seen for a video game

    • +3

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me…you can't get fooled again!

  • +92

    Remember, no preorders.

    • +1

Ill make a decision after next weekends open beta.

      • Fair.

      • +3

Same, I got burnt with 2042, I even played the beta, it seemed off at the time, but I so wanted it to be good that I lied to myself and kept the pre-order for the Ultimate super deluxe version, $140 down the drain.

        • +3

i'm very grateful that i bought 2042 on steam. upon launch i played it and was shocked at how bad it was, request refund via steam and it was accepted within 5 minutes of applying for it.

          • +1

@whitepuma: Bf2042 got good after about a year of updates.. not ideal though got there in the end

            • @Sage222: I dunno, IV played it at every free weekend they have had (to see if I should jump back in), and every time IV seen small improvements, but not enough for me to say it's "good"

      • +3

When you play the beta you accept the flaws and problems, which is fine

The issue is when the company just ships the beta, which has been the case for the last few Battlefield's

        • Most serious game developers don't build Alphas, Betas etc anymore. The best games are developed in increments and iterations, base code and add add add more more more features each sprint. Ala. CP2077 initially…and after.

      • +2

We need cannon fodder like you.

    • It's already #1 on Steam Top Sellers list

      https://store.steampowered.com/search/?filter=topsellers

      lol

      • +12

Preordering something that is digital and won't sell out is completely stupid.

        • -5

Exclusive pre-order content. Given you can cancel the preorder anytime and refund the game no questions asked post release on steam, if you intend on buying day 1 it's stupid not to. Feel free to buy into the hive mind but you're paying the same amount of money for less content, with the same consumer guarantees applied.

          • +4

            @DonkSettingsEnjoyer:

Gravedigger Soldier skin, Hatchet weapon package, Soldier patch, Express Delivery weapon sticker, Bandolier weapon charm, Fallen Heroes player card, and the Tombstone XP boost set.

I mean if that is important to you, go right ahead.

            • -1

@PainToad: The point is more about preorder content in general (haven't bought a battlefield game since 1, if you must resort to character attack). Again, you're paying the same amount for less content (unless you can't afford to have $90 tied up). If you have an argument against that point I would love to hear it.

          • @DonkSettingsEnjoyer: People are choosing not to pre-order coz they got burnt by games being released too early when its still full of bugs, unstable etc etc. So people are choosing to wait until after it's released to decide whether to purchase it or not.

You only have like a 48hr hour window to refund steam games and provided you don't play more than 2hrs or so.

            • @DevlicK:

Preordered games that have been released are still eligible for a refund, as long as the refund request is submitted within two weeks of the game’s release, and the game has been played for less than two hours

Two weeks is plenty of time to (1) try the open beta, (2) read/watch reviews and (3) play a couple matches yourself to evaluate whether you're happy with the state of the game.

people are choosing to wait until after it's released to decide whether to purchase it or not.

Just refund the purchase, you're no worse off.

  • +3

Any news on Single player campaign length?

    • Does it even have one?

      • Yeah they had a trailer a few days ago

        • +3

That's good. I always liked them in Battlefield not because I enjoyed them so much for the story, but because they made good tutorials before playing multiplayer.

        • To be fair the trailer made it look like there is a story but it wasn't stated?

    • There's a leaked mission/chapter list, but no idea how long each mission/chapter is gonna be

  • +37

    !!!!Remember no Preorders!!!!!

  • +18

Smart buyers wait. Skip the preorder

    • But… but… I want the PHANTOM PACK so bad….

  • anyone seen pc specs for BF6? I got a 3900X and RTX3070 @ 1440p, hoping it will still be ok,

    • Given the current state of optimization on release, probably not.

      • +1

Current state.. on release? It looks tight and well developed from everything they have shown so far

        • +3

Current state > Have you not played any AAA game over the past 5 years on release day? Are you not aware of how poorly optimized they have been?

On release? > Yes the release date.

It looks tight and well developed from everything they have shown so far > Yes I agree, however they were likely seated in front of desktops with high end hardware.

          • @DarnyBoy1982: I misunderstood your wording.
Let's hope some of the 400 million spent on the game has gone into optimising. The lengthy closed Beta and now open Betas give me some confidence. There is hours of footage available now and it looks fantastic. I'll be surprised if a 3070 doesn't do well and I hope I'm not proven wrong.

            • @harvestloon: Me too man, Im running a 3080 and a 5800x. I really dont want to upgrade between now and October.

          • +1

@DarnyBoy1982: There's leaked footage from playtesters (that played at home, not the invite events) and it seems to run pretty nicely!

I think I saw a bug where the gun wasn't rendered so they're holding an invisible gun, but other than that it doesn't look as disastrous as 2042 (not a high bar I know)

Praying that this is a return to form cause I miss the BF3/4 days (and yes, I'm aware how they were on release)

    • +3

I googled it for you my friend.

thanks, should be still playable, I need to pull my finger out and install the 5700X3D I have sitting around from earlier this year,

    • +1

Pure speculation but with the recommended specs this will likely net you 60-80fps on medium-high settings @1440p native

  • +1

It's up on JBHiFi's 'Trade 2 games to get one free' deal page now too.

  • +10

    Will wait for 90% off

    • Servers will be empty by then.

      • +1

They'll be empty after a week if history shows us anything

        • 2042 was shit house but it wasn't dead after a week like you suggest, kept a pretty healthy player base until i stopped playing it last year

  • +8

huge fan and been playing since 1942.

This new one looks great, but it's still too early to tell. I feel like people forget what happened with 2042. The hype, trailers, and excitement leading up to it were on par with what we are getting now, however upon go-live people realised it was trash. 2042 was the only one I have refunded.

I'm likely going to get battlefield 6, however I won't be preordering, and I'll be making sure I buy it on steam where I can seamlessly refund it if it doesn't meet expectation. (yes I know you can refund from storefronts, but it has more steps involved).

I sure hope this matches it's hype though, I fear this one will be the decider for the franchise on if they keep going or not.

    • +3

same, have owned/played all BF games except for hardline,

but pretty much all BF games had issues for the first few months, BFV and BF4 both had serious problems as well,

2042 got better over time, I think it was especially bad because of COVID and everyone was working remotely AFAIK.

      • +1

I'm right there with you - played since the original and enjoyed all of them (except I also skipped Hardline).

I'm still playing BF4 and BF2042 regularly, and I'm super excited about this new one, the gameplay released today looks absolutely fantastic and all of the the players seem to be having fun.

I really hope they release it in a good state and are able to build some momentum, release new content regularly etc.

I'm also a strong advocate for NO PRE-ORDERS but my friend just sent me a gift license so I guess I'm part of the problem now?

        • I still remember attending the midnight launches for battlefield 3 & 4. Back in the day your local EB games would host an event of it, then we would rush home and install the game (stored on like 3 or 4 CD's if you opted for the CD version). but despite needing to install from a bunch of CD's, you would still be able to play pretty quickly because you didn't need to anticipate a 50gb update, what they had on disc for launch day tended to be what we played for a while.

Miss those days, but i also don't miss the slower internet speeds of those days.

      • imo, they shouldnt have called Hardline a battlefield, i really enjoyed hardline, but i felt with the BF tag, it killed it by association.

    • +4

2042 ended up being pretty good, its just a shame that by the time they "fixed" it nobody was playing.

      • +2

2042 is doing ok, theres a few full Australian servers most evenings.
Love how everyone shits on 2042, but havn't played it since it launched and that's there only takeaway. No preorders guys gets boring quickly.
500 odd hours here. Preordered Bf2042 like every bf since bf3 (hardline excluded) and preordered bf6 this morning.
I can't see them messing this one up on launch, if they do some how, i have faith they will rectify it with updates.

        • +1

Honestly I pre-ordered 2042 too and I had fun from day 1. The game was highly unbalanced for like a year since launch but didnt stop me from having fun. Yes it was missing classes etc but I just didnt pay attention to that. I never understood the hate on 2042, apart from the cheesy lines. 2042's Battlepass was also really good. Less grind, fun and value for money. I'm most likely going to pre order 6 after playing the beta because either way I'm going to buy it later so might as well just buy it now. $120 does hurt though…. havent paid for a game since 2042 because I have Gamepass with the conversion hack.

      • +1

Totally agree - I wish there were a few more maps, and there are a few minor balance issues with vehicles, but it's still absolutely a fun game. I've just topped 900 hours, which is pretty close to my BF3 and BF4 totals.

I never have trouble finding a local Portal server that has plenty of players, so it's definitely not dead.

    • +2

I have over 800 hours on 2024 - loved it from the start - big BF fan

      • I'm glad you enjoyed it, but couldn't stand it myself.

    • People are stupid. Simple

    • The hype, trailers, and excitement leading up to it were on par with what we are getting now,

nah, there was hype until the first beta, the dick riders still rode the game but everyone else with clear eyes knew it was dog shit

  • +5

    Do not pre-order games!

  • +2

Lets hope its better than the last steaming pile of crap they brought out.

    • +6

No "tactical sprint" immediately makes it better than modern CoD.

      • Though I like the addition of crouch sprint

      • Can’t you turn it off on COD?

        • +1

Maybe? But wouldn't change the fact other players are using it, making the game feel like Quake 3 Arena.

          • @PainToad: I think the mods and aimbots over rule that lol

  • +4

OP thank you for informing us of this deal and the various options, never want to discourage extra information, but stay strong ozbargainers… NO PREORDERS!!!

  • +2

Bought the last one for 75 what a waste of money played for 1hr and never played again

  • +5

    Don't preorder.

  • +4

The last Battlefield was released in November 2021 it was on sale by Christmas and was going for $20 by February, it was $9 inside of 6 months and they still couldn’t give it away at $5 within the year… you’d have to be insane to pre-order this slop and this comes from a long time Battlefield fan.

    • Looking forward to the $20 sale in January.
I'm not paying stripper tip money for a digital copy.

  • +7

Why the hell is the digital version $109.95? Completely absurd, yet people want the next gen consoles to be all digital…

    • -2

Not sure who “people” are, but we’re already there. Digital has well and truly overtaken physical in the sales split, something like 80/20 on PlayStation.

      • People keep parroting this and it’s complete bullshit. In terms of game sales, not it isn’t. Game sales are much closer to 50/50 digital physical split. Game REVENUE is what gets counted as being 20/80 split with physical, because people spend money on DLC.

  • +5

rubs my big box version of Codename Eagle

    Kids these days.

But it all seriousness, I got my moneys worth of 2042 I guess.. I watched the Twitch event today and it looked okay, maps looked small though!

We want massive warfare, not just close combat!

    • +1

Play hell let loose. Actual tactics, great gun play, team work, voice comms and mature player base so no squeakers or very few.

      • Yep. They're meant for different audiences but Hell Let Loose captured me when 2042 came out like a wet fart.

  • +6

Battlefield 2042 was 50% off after 1 month. Not saying it will happen again but it's worth waiting for an actual sale in my opinion.

    • +1

      Its a double edged sword.

2042 only got to that price after 1 month because it wasn't a good game and didn't sell well

So do you prefer big discounts quickly? Or do you prefer a good game?

  • +1

But preorder comes with "Physical Limited Edition Battlefield Class Dog Tags"

  • +4

    HODL

development was rushed and they are working on a battle royale so expect more of 2042

  • Provided the game won't come out completely different to their recently released streamer showcases footage today, then it should be promising.

Also apparently if you've signed up for battlefield labs playtest prior to july 31st, you should be get to play early access test next weds/thurs, but assuming that's US time so maybe thurs/fri for us?

    • +2

Yes I got an invite through Battlefield Labs. Early Beta starts this coming Thursday 7th Aug 6pm AEST

  • +3

    No Preorders

  • Its a shame that you can't get the bag with digital versions

  • With game pass we should be getting the 10hr trial so worth checking that out at least before buying.

  • +3

    Please noone preorder

    • +1

      Instructions unclear, preordered at noon.

  • +1

Ordering a game before it comes out in case you miss out on it.
What a world we live in.

    • +2

Especially when it can now just be downloaded - preorders made sense when games would sell out - those days are gone

      • You can predownload preordered games can't you?

  • +1

    FYI
    PS5 Pro performance mode

The PS5 Pro ran 100-120 in the pre alpha.
Mostly between 100 and 115 lowest I saw was high 90s

    PS5 base performance mode
Base PS5 and Xbox consoles will get a 80fps performance mode.

    Thats kinda amazing

  • +1

If you preorders, Im afraid we cant be friends, mate.
