I suppose it's not a bad deal if you take your own straws and share the drinks between multiple people.

    • +2

Good thinking. I might make some paper straws out of Bunning's catalogs and take those along.

Had you titled this deal “Unlimited Diabetes” I would’ve upvoted it for sure.

  • +5

Imagine drinking unlimited soft drink all day. That’d be between 100 -200 teaspoons of sugar.

    • +3

      Coca Cola No Sugar!

      • -8

Good option if you don't mind cancer and all the other crap in the No Sugar varieties. I would take the sugar, especially on a day out with exercise.

        • +1

Interesting view. Horrifying if No Sugar edition is that bad. Will research, but thanks for the heads up.

          • @JeBs: Also cautious if you are at-risk of diabetes, as artificial sweeteners have been shown to cause insulin resistance at higher or similar rates to sugar.
So any soft drink is best in moderation, preferably with food. Heck even soda water in excess is bad for your teeth due to the acidity. (how bad depends on the level of carbonation)

        • -2

Consuming sugar is healthy if you exercise.

          Looks like someone watches ads.

        • +2

Quick google search shows no indication that artificial sweeteners in sugar free drinks raise the risk of cancer. Big claim to make there without any supporting evidence.

Edit: I had a moment to spare so here's what I found.

@bardwrangler: If you care do your own further research, you will find that in the studies cancer rates increased, but the FDA dismissed the linkage and cited unrelated technical issues with the various studies.

Next you are going to claim ignorance to the link between artificial sweeteners and insulin resistance (ie: pathway to diabetes, even quicker than high sugar)

              @UltimateAI:

If you care do your own further research

That old line…works for any argument where simple peer reviewed science does not agree with the claim being made.
Feel free to post some quality link to backup your link between artificial sweeteners and increased cancer

        • Despite public concern, there is no evidence that artificial sweeteners cause cancer, or unsafe in the doses typically consumed.

Ozbargainers will measure using anything but the metric system.

      • -2

The metric system is abysmal for everyday life measurements. Why would you measure in 83 grams or 0.003 litres when you can use teaspoons?

    • whats your point exactly?

      • Clearly some people need to get a life if they’re banging on about people using teaspoons for measurements instead of the metric system.

If you don’t pee yourself on the rides, well you will now.

  • Combine with annual pass for a years supply.

  • Buy the cups on marketplace (yes, people sell them)!

  • i haven't been to Movie World since i was a kid, do they still have that robot that dispenses drinks??

    • +2

Movie World (and Dreamworld) are shells of their former selfs. Don't waste your time. The only people who would still like the places would be those who didn't go during the prime of the parks (the 90s).

I hope Dreamworld finally collapses and Disney, Universal, Six Flags etc. buy the land.

So, the entire population that's <22 yrs old?

        • If that's the maths, sure.

      • Care to elaborate on what has gone downhill? I've just moved to the southside so it's almost a trivial drive down now and have been keen to head back to theme parks for the first time in well over a decade. I'm really only interested in the rides which seem to still be pretty good quality?

        • Care to elaborate on what has gone downhill?

Countless rides, shows and even whole sections of the parks removed. Sure there's new rides, but no where near enough to match the losses.

In their primes, big new rides were added nearly every Christmas peak season (without removing old ones).

      • How’s SeaWorld these days?

        • I question why their new roller coaster is made of wood in 2021. Driving past it looks embarrassing. Looks like it belongs in the 1930s.

          • @PainToad: Why not? Gives a different feeling on the ride compared to the metal.

          • +4

@PainToad: It may be nostalgia, but a wooden coaster captures the essence of a true coaster ride. They’re pure, affecting all of your senses. You can smell the wood, hear the sounds of the chain lift, the rumble of the timer, and feel the roar as the trains race around the tracks. You don’t get that on a steel coaster. They are over-engineered and often seem too caught up in loops and gimmicks. There is something extra about a wooden coaster — it seems to carry the soul of the thrill ride.

Part of their beauty is that wooden coasters are living, breathing things. The wood expands and contracts during the day, continually changing the ride. You could get on the same coaster throughout the day sitting in a different seat each time, and have a unique ride each time.

Then there’s the “air time.” This is that wonderful feeling when riders are lifted off their seats, whether it being in the back seat going down the plunge, or in the front seat as riders are rushed up the next hill. Steel coasters can do this, but often the restraints have you so confined in your seats, particularly with loops, that some of that negative G sensation is lost. A great wooden coaster feels barely in control. It can be terror on rails. That’s the adrenaline rush that fans crave.

Wooden coasters are things of beauty. They are a connection back to the late 19th century, when America’s first amusement parks were being built. These are the types of rides that your parents and grandparents enjoyed as kids, and now want to ride with their own kids. There are outstanding steel coasters, too, but wooden coasters are the kings of the midway.

          • @PainToad: The same reason people are still buying mechanical watches. Not because they're better, but because they're cooler

  • Went to movie world 2 years ago - really fun as long as the lines aren't terrible. I already got the $22 for 2 deal so it's not exactly a new promotion, has been around for a while but still good value. Water is also an option if you don't want soft drinks.

    • 22 dollars for unlimited water! ?

      • No as in just fill up from the taps/drinking fountains and save the $22.

  • Pro tip, the normal cups you can just refill yourself, they have self serve refill stations and people just refill up the normal cups. Unless you plan on revisiting, which we do and these reusable ones are great.

    • When I went 2 years ago, the refillable cups have an NFC chip on the bottom and when you go to the self serve it's suppose to scan the chip and lets you use the machine or not, were told the same thing that we needed to "pay" again at the next theme park but we didn't and were able to refill.

      • That definitely isn't happening anymore at the Gotham City Cafe.

        • The refillable sippers do indeed have the NFC sticker, but the self serve stations have never verified them.

Outside of peak they often do not open the self serve stations, but yes when they are open you can potentially steal soft drink this way.

  • +1

$2 costco unlimited drinks and a hot dog.

    • excellent deal if you go saturday or sunday since you will literally be in line all day.

  • +5

$11 for a drink is a deal? Can't you just take a bottle of water and survive 6 hours without soft drink?

    • I don't drink soft drink, but can see $11 for unlimited drinks is a deal compared to usual theme park prices, prob only need 2 drinks which sad to say is quite common on a day out.
As other have a said, families share the drink with their own straws or take turns. Tip into separate cups, soo many options.

  • So normal price is $15, worth mentioning the sippers pictured are no longer available (at Movie World at the minimum).

They have moved to a generic design for all parks with 3 different colours.

Worth mentioning One Pass (annual) passholders can get these for only $7.99, its an inclusion in your pass and mentioned in the terms and conditions.

"• discounted unlimited soft drink refills for $7.99 per visit;"

  • Sad day when we think $22 of post mix is a deal… in any quantity!
