Stay away from Optus. They left active telecommunication service on your credit report. Was with Optus back in Oct 2021 on new so-called ‘postpaid Enjoy the flexibility of no lock-in contracts with our new month-to-month SIM plans for your phone. Set & forget with hassle free automatic payments – no more bills ever again.‘ plan. BYO, no device repayment involved, Optus left a service with $3000 credit limit on credit report, same as your credit card. Then I cancelled in Nov, three months now. It’s still there showing active.

    • Sounds like a mistake. Have you tried to get it removed?

      • +1

They just denied it even if complained few times with picture proof of that cancelled account still showing active on credit report.

        • +7

TIO is your friend but what a pain regardless..

Cancelled my Optus mobile postpaid service in 2018. However, the account suddenly appeared again and showed active in my Credit report in October 2021. Called Optus and they confirmed the account was cancelled already in 2018 and they couldn’t do anything. Have to file a review on illion and Equifax to remove the Optus account.

      • May o ask what sort of credit report shows Optus credit details?, mist be a more detailed credit report then thise free credit reports that just shows ones rating,.. may I ask what credit report company are you using? by chance do you have a weblink? I'm sure it's a paid service though sounds like it's worth it too if it has those sort of details, cheers

    • Telcos should be $0 on your credit report (for standard postpaid), is this reflected on all CRBs? At the time I was working at one of the CRBs and I recall there was a push of Optus enquiries on consumer accounts but should be of $0 value. These shouldn't affect your credit score (if it's 0 ofc) but I'd be raising with the CRBs; who then may contact the Telco. If they get no response, it's in the customer's favour to remove.

Bring back your old deals , 80gb, 4gb roaming, international calls, $40, deals since then plans have gone to 💩

    • +5

Completely agree! Still holding onto that plan.

    • Gotta love the sweet sweet increase on ARPU

  • Can this be added along with mobile plan as well?

    • Yes, they told me as long as your porting in a second number to an exisiting or new service

  • Stay away, seriously. I just moved to Optus on a Qantas deal and am I regretting it. I was on Telstra got 4 bars everywhere and averaged 110mbps at home, middle of the ACT but was a bit pricey per month and thought I could save $40 a month.

Ported to Floptus on Tuesday after nearly 24hrs of crap from them and two visits to the store even telling the guy, I hope I don’t regret this. To, I’m regretting every second with the Bull*^+t telco. 1 bar, constant dropouts and what makes it worse 1.4mbps down and 0.4mbps up. Contacted support and advised I must live outside of their service range. Told them to recheck my address that shows me in the middle of a major city.

I always laughed at the add where Telstra state, You don’t need the best Telco until you do. Damn straight, Floptus, you are a waste, time to port back to Telstra, maybe even Boost on the $10, 40BG plan.

    • Definitely needs to be tested where you use it most. I was with Optus for more than 10 years and in the past year their 4G service tanked. 5G reception was excellent when it worked but was on terrible 4G service most of the time in Western Sydney.

      • So true, good to also see that the Optus Rep doesnt make a positive comment, i guess he knows deep down how crap their network really is.

    • Similar experience. Have been with telstra for ages and recently switched to optus, i figured because I'm mostly in urban areas. Am regretting and will port back out shortly - with telstra i never had to worry about things like being in the middle of a bunnings in the middle of a city and getting no signal.

      • I just went to Boost and all my dead spots have gone, I’m now averaging about 105mbps down and 27mbps up at the moment, pretty good on 4G and the customer service is actually pretty good, Floptus, NEVER EVER AGAIN.

    • Are yous all in Sydney using Optus service? Melbourne here and Optus is awesome for me as with there 5G service I manage over 1000Mbps download speeds, they do say location, location, location maybe yous all should move to sunny Melbourne,. perfect one day shit the next lolz

Check out my Speedtest result! How fast is your internet? https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/7454933490

      • That’s cracking speed, nice one..

        • Shame I have to drive 10 minutes down the road (two lots of towers away) close to a 5G tower to achieve those sort of speeds, my place still has only 4G towers here barely getting over 20 Mbps, what a big difference the right towers can make with right bandwidth and right number of frequencies on the tower,.. so hurry up Optus bring me 5G, your so close,. lolz

          https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/8165087092

          • @Italkdigital: You just cant beat Telstra, for speeds, reliability and service.

  • Can we add any device to it ?

    • yes

      • Hi, are you sure about this? Went to store but was told you can only take a device with discounted device repayment OR 50% discount on monthly plan fees

  • Month to month contract?

    • +1

Yes and a credit report active service record that never updates.

  • Anyone know when the next Telstra Jb HiFi $500 gift card deal will be back? Ported out a month ago and waiting for the next deal.

    • In the same boat, need a new jb deal, already switched gomo and now Lebara, miss Telstra

    • They will have something cooking for the new s22 phone. I’m waiting for that. Currently on Amayasim and my job need a good reception, good for my home area but once I enter a particular suburbs with all new housing the floptus signal tank and I lost my connection.

    • Maybe around March/April

  • Is this offer available until end of Feb?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Does Optus have any good deals. It seems JBHIF/.Telstra and Vodafone seems to be streets ahead

  • +1

I have this deal off the back of a $15 sim only data plan giving 85gb between the two devices

Works well; no complaints in Melbourne at all

Highly recommend for $27.5 a month plus the other plan that I use in my tablet its too good to say no to

  • So I cN technically port out and port back ?

  • Can it be stacked with the 10% off student deal?
    https://www.optus.com.au/studenthub?SID=con:plans:foot:1:jun…

  • I have been advised that this offer is only available to customer in WA.

    Is this correct?

    • +1

That’s another deal for port-in customers in WA. Saw it on FB. It’s online. So unlike this deal (in-store, but nationwide and require existing postpaid account).

      • Thanks!

  • On a $80/month for $59 with telstra and a $500 GC for the good guys for 12 months

Never been better, had Optus before and is crap. If you can find the same deal as myself, take it instead of this.

  • Hi the link is showing standard plan prices. How to get this offer , I am existing broadband customer. Thanks

    • The offer is in store

  • Don't know if this would work again, I've done this in the past, so signup for a postpaid data plan first,.. cheapest with Optus is $15 for 5gb of data as your 1st main plan to start your account with Optus (they might still have 50% off for data plans so $7.50 for 12 months) then add the $45 postpaid plan with unlimited calls and data etc the cheapest is $45 with calls and 20gb of data,..
So thuis is your second plan that will have the 50% off deal as posted here,. as second plan would be $22.50, so say $15 (maybe 50% off) plus $22.50 = $37.50, the discount on 2nd plan easily pays off 1st plan data plan,.. you'll have 2x sims the data one you can keep at home in a 4G modem (Optus 4G ones are cheap) for your home devices for me was my Fetch TV Box so you don't need the NBN of course if your sadly single like me lolz, a lovely family would need NBN but maybe not, you can also share the data between the both plans but if you don't the 5gb of data will certainly be chewed up in days but saying that found 1.5 Mbps OK to a point for streaming video or my trick record stuff on Fetch box then play it back later and no lag issues as recorded local in Fetch box

Suggest though for a little more money go with there $55 calls plan as second plan which has 80gb of data …
So 1st plan Data plan at $15 (home in your 4G modem) plus second plan with calls and 80gb data plan (in your mobile) at $25 = Total $40 total 85gb of data between both plans,.. the $55 plan is also 5G capable with few extras

For those that have already there main number with Optus might have to port out and in, those new too Optus should have no issues but suggest call them or jump on chat to see if this is still possible, maybe play dumb start the conversation about getting the data plan first then slip into conversation the second call plan towards end of chat and hit them with this 59% off deal👍😁

To me even better there $65 calls plan with 200gb of data, so data plan ($15) plus calls/data plan ($32.50) TOTAL monthly costs = $47.50,.. 2x sims total data 5gb + 200gb = 205gb, I actually wouldn't data share and let the 5gb data plan go to 1.5Mbps slow down so won't effect other calls sim with 200gb of data, one can always hotspot that simcard from mobile and you get benefits of unlimited data from 5gb data sim even though it's slowed down at 1.5Mbps

Thank God for the edit button 😁🤣
