  • Can't comment about the price but the wok itself looks alright - just ready to get a good seasoning going

    Work on induction cooktops ?

    • steel flat bottom woods work on flat induction ($) curbed botton woks work on wok curved induction ($$$$) , if you want to use curved bottom on flat induction, you need a special induction ring adapter, de buyer from france make them , hard to get in australia with current supply chains … got mine of amazon now no stock, was $120 …… the clever french get the ring to lift the magnetic field up to the areas of the curved bottom of the wok not touching the flat induction plate …… damn simple idea but have only seen debuyer selling them …..might be because debuyer also make stainless induction woks in france ….. surprised nobody has these on aliexpress so that all those people using flat induction cooktops can use curved bottom woks on induction ….. needs to be steel or induction stainless with the magnet test ….. normal stainless wok ring doesn't work.

Is this Uncle Roger approved? Cannot buy too many, be wok (profanity) boi

  • I have the 14" one and it has been wonderful. Just make sure you season it properly and take care of it after every use.

  • With the brush and spatula, works out cheaper than Amazon. Bought two (for a friend)

    • got my 14” off amazon ….. free shipping is always an incentive so that you don’t have to work out postage before disappointment.the 14” isn’t bad but have been told chinese catering suppliers have thicker ones which are better ….

  • Anyone here using an outdoor wok burner to really get the heat cranking?

    • bought the burner but yet to fire it up …..

    • Yes, bought a Companion Mega Jet for around $100 delivered recently and it’s great with 85,300 BTU. I bought a flat bottom pre seasoned Yosukata wok and looking for a couple of other cheaper backup woks, Aldi actually has a special buys carbon steel wok on sale from today for $19.88.

    • Was gifted a rambo wok burner for Christmas and wish I got one years ago, making pad see ew weekly at the moment! Vastly improved texture and taste

Poor customer service. Paid $100 for the blue carbon steel wok. Got sent to me with an actual chip in the surface of the the wok where you can see the steel underneath. They said it can can come with cosmetic blemishes. That's not a cosmetic blemish. Offered me 10% off then 20%. Now they will accept it as a refund but I have to pay postage and a 20% restocking fee. Utter crap. Do not buy from this company if you expect help or have an issue. They have no clue about customer service or ACCC consumer guidelines.

the blue effect is caused by heat and a chemical change in the steel surface and helps, rust resistance it’s only on the surface ….heat it up and it will go blue again ……. it’s the same with french crepe pans ….they are sold a blue versions in retail and look nice and don’t rust as quick on the shelf ….same comes as “industry version” in grey , sometimes have rust on them but restaurants don’t care as they get cleaned and seasoned and would rather buy cheap grey than expensive blue …….. as my supplier said “house wives don’t like to buy rusty pans so we also keep the blue version at a higher price” ……..

don’t embarrass yourself by sending it back ….

      • I know why it is blue. I paid extra for that. You can see and feel the chip. It's not part of the hammering process. It's an actual chip in the cooking surface. I would not have bought it if I knew it would come like this.

blue steel, grey steel, same steel, just one has been heated in air and an oxide formed debuyer carbonne, debuyer force blue, debuyer mineral B, all the same steel pan ….carbone is grey and cheapest, force blue has been heated so doesn't rust on the shelf, mineral B is the grey carbone pan dipped in beeswax so doesn't rust on the shop shelf and costs 30% more than the carbone …..

when I season my grey pans I heat them to get them "blue" so protective oxide forms …..let it cool as its too hot to add oil and will burn the oil and send off smoke detectors ….. when cooled then heat pan again (not as hot as you did to blue it) , add oil and season …..

    its just chemistry …….

Heat the steel to temperatures from 400 to 800 degrees Fahrenheit, to produce oxidation colors. At 480 degrees F., the steel turns brown, at 520 degrees F, it turns purple, at 575 degrees F (301 C) , it turns blue and at 800 degrees F, it turns grey.

other things happen also but you get the idea about blue steel pans ……

  • Great value. I like knowing that a real person in China was paid a few cents to pummel it into that shape, rather than a machine.

  • Got mine delivered today. Initial thoughts - great quality and nice and solid.

Just need to season it so can’t wait to start cooking on it!
