      Yeah, I am a little bummed about that, gonna miss 3G of my original Galaxy Tab… Then again, I doubt you will find a 3G anywhere near this price

      Yeah, but it is a significantly stripped back device. SGT 7.7 is Samsung's premium tab where SGT 2 7.0 is more of a budget device to compete with kindle fire and the likes.

      • Far worse screen (PLS vs Super AMOLED)
      • Lower resolution
      • Smaller screen
      • Slower CPU
      • Less storage
      • Heavier + thicker

      Not sure about a local release, but if you buy from Amazon you also need to factor in postage.

        ya just checked, eglobal also has 555 free shipping. I would be going overseas soon, would love to have this with 3G connectivity.

      i was checking for the 3g version few days back. cheapest finds are as below.

      Kogan - 559 + 19 = 578
      Chat and Vision - 539.99 + 40=579.99
      think of us - 570 + 27 = 597(shop is in paramatta so can get in person)
      eBay - DWI - 565 + 0 = 565
      crazy sales 554.15+35.59 = 589.74

      (actual price + delivery to Sydney CBD = total)

      Guess it all depends on what you’re after. I use it as a work device and carry it everywhere so the fact hat it weighs half as much counts (and is a more portable form factor).

      Also I find the Super AMOLED screen to be far superior to IPad2’s screen.

      I actually prefer it to IPad3's screen as well (as it has better contrast, colour, etc.), but many will disagree (due to the amazing dpi of the IPad 3 screen).

      1. Smaller/lighter = more portable.
      2. Super AMOLED Plus screen means better colors.
      3. MicroSD expandability - don't need to pay exorbitant prices to increase your storage capacity. You can get 64gb microSD cards now for about $90 AUD.
      4. Android flexibility. I watch 10 gig MKV files encoded with H264 and DTS audio and they play superbly with full hardware acceleration. I can then output these via HDMI to any TV. I'd like to see an iPad do that lol.

    Yep, storm computers had/have 2 shops in perth metro, one very close to me, they are/were open 7 days.

    It is a real shop full of good stuff, and i drive past it a few times each week.

    But their prices have not been the cheapest in perth over the last few years.

      Definitely can be rooted, and there are some mildly modded ROMs on XDA but nothing too exciting.

      No one is really bothering until ICS arrives which should be in about a month.

      Work has started though to port CM9.

    No microsd slot puts me off this product. Though I should say the screen on this is absolutely fantastic. Colours are mindblowing.

    Travelled to my local OW - was about to bargain when I checked the Storm Computers website - sold out, price now $569.

    I did print out OP's original receipt but as it had no date and the price was $569 I felt I had little chance.

    Oh well. Try again next time.
