  • Seems too small for 8k, you would have to sit so close to see 8k.

    • Ahhh desktop pc screen real estate.

  • More expensive then c1 oled.

      c1 oled.

      Not 8K

Lol 8k don't mean much when nothing is 8k. Why waste money on 8k when no content. Maybe ill do 8k jump in 5 years.

        For now oled.

Of course but you compare price between a 4k and 8k.

  • Anything released in 8K yet?

  • Is the consensus that 8k just aint worth it for the price at this point in time? I'm interested if anyone has an 8k TV right now, and why they opted in for it? 🤔

    • 8k is still a joke..

      id rather a c1 oled

      • Looking for a new & larger TV to replace my Samsung KS8000 55” which is bleeding like a beast along the bottom (has kinda put me off Samsung). I see LG C1 OLED come up again & again as recommended. Is this the way to go?

        • The C1 is a brilliant TV.
Picked one up a couple of months ago, and after calibrating a little (plenty of youtube videos available, but check out this guy for a start: https://www.youtube.com/c/hdtvtest), it looks mint.
We went from 65" to the 83" model and have not been disappointed.
Really happy with the purchase, and will hopefully be our main TV for years to come.

          • @beaudilo: Thanks mate. 83” sounds like a monster. Is it not “too big”? And strange size… what happened to the other 2” to round it out?

@fault: It's just how lg make the panels..

Anyways… I just checked ozb history shows that you were able to get 77 c1 oled for 4.8k or there abouts… which is a much better deal than this.. I would go that for sure. Otherwise 65 for 3k is also good.

Otherwise if you have your heart set on lg qned… it isn't a bad TV.. quite decent.. I would not bother with anything lg below this range imho

              @fault: @fault It is a weird one…
The 83" fits the room well, and while it does take up a fair chunk of the wall, I'm definitely happy with it.

Well, I went for this LG 65 inch 8K TV purely because my old Samsung plasma had died and this LG was at a terrific price. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/639484. I ended up paying $200 less than the posted price with negotiation.
I must say that I have enjoyed this TV and found no fault with it whatsoever. There are some criticism for the panel but honestly, casual gaming, movies and tv programs all look great.
As for the 8K content, there really is very little unless you count the various YouTube clips that claim to be 8K but sometimes they are not.
I remember going to NAB show in Las Vegas in 2001, Toshiba was showing off 8K TV in their booth. Totally amazed at the time with the amount of details in the clip but look where we are today, still very little 8K contents for the mass yet.
So I would say, only get it if the price is in the acceptable range for you. Don’t go for the 8K feature yet because there is practically none at the moment.

  • Genuine question: For this sort of price, is it better value to get an Ultra Short Throw laser projector?

    • No — Image quality and brightness

      Yes — Image size

I used to be a big fan of (commerical) projector but LED TV is so cheap now that image quality typically out-performs most projectors at same price tag.

  • I would have thought more dpi on a 8k with upscaling would have an impact on viewing clarity, is that not the case?

  • I have a TCL 8k 75x925 as a monitor upgraded from a Soniq 4k 65". Love it.
