Seems WA will be locked out of these deals then.

I Suggest avoiding Aldis power tools. the warranty process is woeful and replacement goods are generic chinese tools instead of the actual aldi branded ones. My drill died 4 years in and it took 5 months to get a replacement. the replacement drill was a no-brand one that was much less powerful as the oiriginal and it also died within 2 months. ALDI stores dont deal with you once you pass the 60 day period.

I had a similar experience. I bought the battery powered hedge trimmer (Gardenline?) and the motor burned out after 6, months. The warranty process was horrendous. Had to make many calls and emails and finally had to take a video of me trying to use the unit powered up. Once settled they shipped out a replacement. It was unbranded (no serial number) and died within 6 months. It's a bit difficult to make a claim on a unit that has no manufacturing details (~compliance plate) on it.

Either avoid, or assume it'll die within three months then weigh up whether it's worthwhile (it often is if you grab a special buy which didn't sell, on clearance).

They also sometimes have some decent buys in their online only special buys. This is looking like a good enough price to tempt me.

      • Agree with this comment. Don't assume you'll get long term use out of it.

I mean, what do you expect, it's a supermarket. At least Bunnings is happy to continue managing warranty issues right up to the expiry date.

      • Yea i agree with this comment but what usually happens is the tool may be cheap then you have just been sucked into the ecosystem. battery, charger, additonal battery then thinking well you already have the batteries may as well get the next tool for full price etc. it gets a little expensive. Im not regretting getting sucked into the ecosystem but i know better now that i need to move away from it. im slowly killing off everything so i can make the move. Ryobi 6 year warranty!

Yeah I've avoided the Aldi battery ecosystem. Have gone all in on Ozito with no regrets (except they don't have a pressure washer skin as yet).

Yes i would never buy anything in the Aldi battery ecosystem, you can only buy a tool when they decide they want to sell it which might be a year away. Then if something breaks even 2 days after it goes on sale, chances are there wont be any stock to do a swap in store and you are stuck for weeks/months.

Bunnings tend to match whatever Aldi have on sale. Typically this is Ozito PXC brand. For a drill my guess is Ozito PXC 18V Drill Driver Kit, although it only has one battery.

    • I can't say my experience has been the same. I have numerous tools from Aldi's gardenline/workzone sets and none have failed on me yet.

Honestly if they broke after 5 years that's fair enough in my book. I wouldn't go chasing warranty on them given what I paid.

Your mileage may vary but I've had no issue returning year old stuff to Aldi. The staff at my local at least don't care enough to refuse, if I have the receipt they just take it and refund while im checking out.

I returned a year old coffee machine that packed up.

  • First time I've ever seen a battery lawn mower over 100V

    • 2x 58V battery - what is that? 16S??

Their 5S batteries are labelled as 20V, so that can't be consistent.
The world really needs a standard for high-power batteries.
