I saw that at the closing store near me, 15%-20% on all pre-paid phones.

But not sure about the 10% rewards discount.

  • Do they have the Next G version?

Is there a list somewhere of the closing down stores? I never knew any were closing..

        • +2

          May be next stage closing.
Like Dee Why is totally new inside the Hotel shopping centre.

        • +1

these closures are over the next 8 weeks. stores will function as normal till then. some on the list could be Tandys, you might need to ring the store to confirm.

only 10% closing down sale at Sydney York & Barrack shop. salesperson does not even know (pretend?) about reward discount.

        i can see they still have 4 x Xperia S and 2 x Galaxy S2.

        • The closing down discount will vary from store-to-store depending on how far through their closing down schedule they are. You'll have to check price with each individual store.

      • I too can confirm the 100% validity of this list.

    • Last time I checked, they only sold the NextG version.

  • Does this count as prepaid though?
I thought that this was just an outright phone?

    OK here's some answers.

    1) Yes 20% of all OUTRIGHT handsets at the Power House stores Closing Down Sales.
    2) Use the DSE store locator to see marked closing down sale stores like this http://dicksmith.com.au/dsau/storelocator/store_search_resul…
    3) Everyday Rewards is a loyalty card program for Woolies etc - the extra 10% this weekend is off most items (some exclusions check in store) https://www.everydayrewards.com.au/edr/wps/portal/rewards

    :D

        • wasn't me sorry…no idea?

        • +6

          Maybe because you were whinging?

        • -7

I was only stating the fact that there are no stores closing.

Which means in the area we are living there are not much bargain hunters and willing to be ripped off by stores like DSE.

        • +1

I didn't neg you, but Forest Hill is in the easter suburbs

  • Also - I think some iPhones were marked down to like 400 and something as well with these deals!

    • +1

iPhone 4 8GB retail for $679, so if you can get the 20% and 10% off that'd be $489 - which'd be a good deal. I have no idea if they're doing that though.

      • iphone 4 or 4s?

        • iPhone 4 only. 4S starts at 16GB for $799.

  • edit: you posted above ok..deleted

  • What on special should be similar to this at North Parramatta
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/67922

  • so basically you can get the xperia s for about $400
and the galaxy s II for $430? =P

    • Yes, if they still have stock.

But I am wondering whether they will put the additional discount on the current discounted items in the pass 2 days.

  • I can confirm the extra 10% discount ON TOP OF other discounts for 3 products I purchased today, AND the sales person told me that was the Nokia Lumia price ($450…) when I specifically asked about doubling the discounts. She said you take the closing discounted price then deduct the 10 after that!

    I bought today:

    1) Jak+Dextor HD Trilogy on PS3: $59.95 Original Price, -30% PS3 games ($41.96) - extra 10% = $37.77 !!!
    2) Optex Pistol Grip Camera Tripod/Monopod combo: ~$99OP, - 30% = ~!$66 then -10% I paid $53.56

and similar for a kids science kit (got it for 15).

So definately works. Bought these 1hr ago!

  • People, just ring the closing down stores to verify your prices. Say you have a Rewards card, and ask how much the price comes down to on unlocked handsets (shd be -20% and -10%) and check if they have stock!

  • Good price, but the uncertainty regarding Apollo is putting a dent in my enthusiaism.

  • +4

    I love my wp7.. LG E900 Represent!

    • With a catchy name like that, who could resist?

Anyone tried additional 15% off closing down plus 10% reward on top of this special?

    • i reckon at most they'd let you have the additional 10%
what are the terms and conditions for the 10% anyway?
      surely there are exclusions

      • iPads only that I was told…most things get it (PC's etc),

  • What is the 10% off Rewards thing? Do you have to have received an email with the offer, or is it valid for all Everyday Rewards card holders?

    • ALL :) this weekend only, NOT advertised :D

    • +1

I received an email stating I only get the discount at my local store.

"Offer only valid at Dick Smith Hallett Cove, 266 Lonsdale Road, Hallett Cove from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 April 2012"

"*10% discount only valid on already reduced items"

This condition amused me. Normally stores refuse to give discounts on already reduced items. DSE seems to give the 10% bonus discount only if the item is already reduced…

      • so 10% only applies to discounted items? sigh, was thinking about iPad

  • +3

I can confirm that bankstown large, parramatta large and lidcombe have 20% off all unlocked phones in stock. plus if you have a everyday reward card you get 10% off. optus and telstra prepaid are 15% off minus 10%. voda and virgin are 20% also and minus 10%.
the batteries are 40% off and minus 10%
cameras are 20% off minus 10%
box sets dvd are 30% off minus 10%
I cant remember anything alse. but mainly 15-50% off in store.
I got the galaxy sII for $452,and xcover for $251

  • Picked up an ipod touch 8gb for $153

  • I got a laptop backpack with the 10% off everyday rewards @ Lidcombe. So confirmation of the 10% again.

  • +1

    Total of 28% off (1 - (0.8 * 0.9) = 0.28)

  • Just called the canberra store - Flyswick, the guy said they have a 15% off with only "outright phones" and they don't have the phone I wanted (Xperia S). So, I didnt bother asking about the further 10% of everyday rewards

  • +1

Wow. These are great deals. How much does an iPod touch 8GB cost with all these savings??

    • +2

      $153

  • Forest Hill, Victoria

Lithium and Alkaline batteries 40% off
    Other batteries 30% off

    ->

Sanyo Eneloop Anniversary Glitter Batteries after 30% off (and Everyday Rewards 10% off discounted price) $25.19

It's not the $20 price but:
    - I missed that the first time (including all the restocks)
    - my order got accidentally cancelled the second time (they did me a deal on the AAAs instead)
    - I don't know if there will be a 3rd sale or not (which I might or might not get)
