GPU price keeps dropping. Good to see that.

      • +11

They all started cheaper than they currently are.
        Then they became expensive.
Now, unless you've been hiding under a rock, they are gradually coming back down. Very gradually.

          • +3

@[Deactivated]: Look, you might be technically right, and that's not why you're getting negged. It's your relevance to the OP's comment that gave the impression you were just here to smack a snag down just cause, big dick energy or smth.

  • Wow, this is very good value.

    • +18

      Wouldn't go that far

      • Fair enough, I think it's pretty good. 3060ti's didn't get far off this price and sold out, stock 3070's instantly sold out at $999 and inflated from there.

  • +3

Might have gotten one if I were still in the market for a GPU :(

    • Haha yeah if I didn't just buy a 3060 ti ftw recently. This is definitely good value

      • I only started thinking about building a PC from November. Ended up paying 1k for a 3060 Ti from Galax during Black Friday :/
Although in hindsight, it's not that bad in today's market. Still don't really see 3060 Ti's for much less anyway since then.

Basically, I can't HODL if my life depends on it xD

        • Yeah hasn't gone down much since then. I am trying to convince myself evga 3060 Ti ftw at 1099 not a lot worse than this 3070 Ti at 1279, haha. The 3070 Ti ftw at $1449 free shipping was perhaps better?

  • +5

Great price. This makes me want to build a PC again.

    • +2

Dunno why you had a neg but seems it's been fixed anyway ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Is it pronounced ev ga or e vga?

    • -4

      e vga - as in eave-gar
Example; 'Do you have the Eave-gar 3070ti deal?'

    • +14

      It's pronounced Ee-Vee-Gee-A

    • +7

      Wuut…. I thought everyone pronounced it E V G A. Am I missing something

      • +6

Missing what old mates been smoking

      • +1

You are correct. They are wrong.

      • I've noticed some put an inflection on the e when pronouncing it, some put it on the ev, and some on the a.

I was never sure where it belongs, if at all.

  • +5

The more we keep waiting the more $$$ they gonna drop!

  • +11

evga and ple were the only ones to have together to ever offer these gpus at a decent price.

    • +1

Only because they don't have a distributor in the middle to jack up prices. If they did it would likely be the same as everywhere else

      • So, they are the distributor? (Lol jk ofc not but found the thought funny)

  • Do they take the money once they send or now

    • They take it as soon as you preorder IIRC.

    • Yup they had my money for months while I was waiting for a 3060 Ti backorder

  • +9

Nvidia's recommended retail price (RRP) of AU$959 so getting closer to that which is nice.

    $1999 at other retailers

    • Partners then in theory improve on the reference board and hence can set their own RRPs, assumingly in a range above this.

  • This hasn't been in stock for a while, but good price. A lot cheaper than their 3070 ti ftw, like $200 cheaper

    • To put this into perspective, the 3080ti is 2x the price, wtf

      • Xc3 so probably not as premium but definitely diminishing returns there!

        • FTW does run cooler though

  • +1

    EVGA too. My fave.

  • Damn bought a 3070 at 1200 a year ago

    • -6

Which would have paid for itself 3 times over by now, mining Ethereum

      • So, a 3070 can earn $3600 in one year?

        • -2

Not anymore. But it would have made something like that if you'd been mining since this time last year. The network hashrate has increased 3 fold since Jan 21 so the rewards were much higher back then. It's hard to know exactly how much it would have made due to fluctuations in eth price and block rewards.

          • -1

            @vodamerc: you're talking 3070 FHR I assume. LHR won't make that much.

        • Mining 1 Ether in 365D is doable.

    • Also, assuming your card is actually a year old, it will be FHR. It's worth more than $1200 on Ebay/gumtree/marketplace.

    • Pretty nuts, I got the 3080 ftw 3 ultra at launch for 1259 in 2020 @ PLE

  • +1

    HOLD HOLD

Actually keen to be able to afford a GPU soon

    • +5

Hold for what exactly? You're dreaming if you expect 3080s to be available at their launch msrp ever again. The 12gb 3080 was Nvidia resetting pricing structure. Only makes sense to avoid buying something that's decently priced like this if you either don't need a gpu or are waiting for next gen, in which case yes holding on would be the smart move.

PS I've found disregarding the OzB brains trust is often the best move when it comes to buying a gpu. In the time that these geniuses have been yelling HODL I've bought and used a 3080ti for 6 months before flogging it off pretty much at cost and the picked up an Asus KO OC 3060ti during an eBay sale for $785 just last month when every hodler on the deal thread was busy moaning about price jacking.

      • +2

Remember when OZB said not to buy $1000 2080tis?

My gut told me to go for it, but so many were so certain….I doubted myself.

        And here we are.

  • Great price and good brand. Thanks

  • Reasonable price, which is good to see. Worth a buy if you've been holding out. It's worth noting that 8GB VRAM has been the amount used on all mid-range nVidia cards since the GTX 1070 in 2016. AMD mid-range cards now come with 12GB VRAM as minimum, so expect nVidia to increase the VRAM in the next generation of cards.

    • 3070 Ti 16GB coming soon? maybe this clearing out the 8gb model.

      • Doubt it. More likely the 4070 Ti will come with 10GB or 12GB VRAM when it gets announced.

        • 40xx series might comes with enhanced LHR like in 3080 12gb which will put off miners for good.

Which means used 30xx series price might go up. can trade them for free later with brand new 40xx series.

      • There was manufacturer news that this was probable late last year, based on the memory module multipliers next being 16GB.

Its could be they are holding it back for the 40xx series.

The jump to GDDR6X and its ~ 50% performance over GDDR6 , and other factors may have changed their plans. Possible also that 8GB VRAM is absolutely ok still for most gaming scenarios.

    • +3

Only reason I didnt buy one.

8GB is way too low and is being hit already.

Especially at these prices….16gb or nothing.

My 1070 already hits 8gb in new titles, and thats at 1440p.

  • +2

Been out of the pc build game for awhile but man! GPUs costs more than the whole computer combined now

  • Cannot add to card and it says "This product is not available to buy online or instore."

  • -1

Yeah, unfortunatley PLE have baited alot of people with there EVGA video cards, they have the cheapest listings on the EVGA cards. But never have them instock, nor can you pre-order. i want one. but i dont know how im going to pre-order it..

    • +1

When they have stock and estimated arrival time, they list it on their website and ordering opens.

  • +1

There's really not much advantage in going for a 3070TI if I have a 3070 already and only game @ 1440p right?

    Anyone?

    • +1

      Correct.

  • Was there a 12GB Vram refresh coming?

    • There have been rumours of a 16GB 3070ti for a while now but it has yet to eventuate, probably because of high ram prices. It's likely to come with a huge bump in RRP, much like the 12GB 3080 did.

It could be why we're getting cheaper 3070tis starting to show up though.

      • Ahh right

  • Damn missed out. :(

  • +1

If I am to buy another GPU, that would be after eth 2.0.

  • +1

    HODL!?
