[VIC, SA] ANKO 85cm Floor Standing Bladeless Fan $79 Delivered/ C&C/ in-Store @ Kmart

172

Great price for a well built, local Kmart warranty and functional bladeless fan. Costing at a fraction of Dyson.

Kmart is clearing their fans as summer season is about end (maybe not as global warming). This popular cheap bladeless fan has been sold out nationwide for years. Still only few stores in Victoria have stocked them. Not sure about other states

Plenty of stocks at Kmart Doncaster / Burwood stores in Victoria.

Note the fan may be quite noisy for some people but even Dyson ones would have the same noise issue due to the nature of the bladeless design.

Performance also a at fraction of Dyson!

Have you tried it? I have one and think they're pretty good for the price in comparison to a Dyson.

It's the same as going on an eko/Hisense/etc tv deal, and saying well it's not a Sony.

      • +2

How loud is yours? There are reviews that say it's 50db at the lowest setting compared to the Dyson's 30dB

        https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/kmart-anko-bladele…

50db is apparently a "Corporate office environment" vs "nighttime in a rural area" source

        • Well I have it in one bedroom and it's been no issue for me. Not sure if it's that's the same as the one shown on product review though as there's a couple different models pictured.

        • +2

50dB would be too loud for me in most situations.

Corporate (open plan) office is a very unproductive environment due to the high levels of noise and disruption by others. I hate to think what the noise levels were in a full call centre.

        • Yeah it's quite noisy so it won't be suitable for some people especially if you want it in the bedroom.

Sony is NOT a good example of a premium tv brand. Hasn't been for at least ten years. Multiple bad experiences over that time.

        • What is then?

        • +1

The point is that the brand is a lot more expensive compared to the alternative.

        • Sony A90J OLED is the best tv you can buy right now

    • +5

I mean if it's 70% of the performance at 20% of the price I'll take that for a fan any day.

  • Curious, what was the full price?

    • RRP $89 but was sold out nationwide since debut.

Just bought my today and pretty happy for the built quality and touch / remote control sensitivity. The LED surrounding light feature is pretty cool as well.

      • -4

Not much of a discount then.

        • -5

Well I am happy to sell an equivalent fan for $699 then half the price for your "discount" at $349.50 while you think $10 off a $89 unit isn't a good discount for this product.

Will it be hard to source the replacement blades?

    • +1

Most likely to be replacing the whole unit instead. The blades / motor were built inside the body instead of exposing outside.

But it doesn't attract dust as what I found annoying with traditional blade fans.

      • +1

        Lol.

      • Dust can still accumulate on the body!

        • +6

          What now?

          • @dust: why do you stick everywhere?

        • I find it helps if you have the fan pointed at your body..

      • +2

out of sight out of mind, I'm pretty sure it will attract dust on the blades. source my laptop.

        • Well said. Unless this type of fan has a good air filter prior to the blades, they are going to build up dust on the blades and inside of the system.

Our $350-ish Miele vacuum cleaner is better than our $1K Dyson vac. Better suction and quieter. Both bagless.

The Dyson hand dryers in our office dry your hands fast because they blow the water off your hands all over the surrounding area.

IME Dyson are a marketing company.

      • If we’re going to go there, my $50 ozito wet dry vacuum with bag is way better than my Dyson.

    Looks fughy!

  • This type of fan is not bladeless. Of course they still have blades, they just aren't exposed, but that doesn't make them bladeless.

      • +2

This whole "why don't you build your own truely bladeless fan" idea is great. You should try push this idea onto every message in the off chance one of them doesn't get negged to oblivion.

    • Of course

      Of course.

  • +1

Yeah don't do it. These are loud, especially on the maximum setting which you'll need it on to get enough breeze. Not worth the price.

  • +6

I thought this is an urinal

    • Well, it can be…

    • +6

Careful.. better like the design or OP will ask you to design your own fan..

      • Feel free to express yourself and piss on it, you should probably turn it off first though.

    • boring as a urinal without the blades

  • +2

I bought one of these about 2 months ago (middle of summer) and my kmart had stacks of them. Returned it after a few days, really loud and less wind than a cheap pedestal fan

    • +1

Sounds like a Dyson then. See the YouTube review posted above.

      Nah, it's all just spin.

      • So basically cool story bro?
