    How much is 2721qs

  • +3

Bring back the xps 12900k rig!

    • 12900k gonna be thermal throttling under Dell's 120mm AIO. 12700k or even 12400f with RTX 3080 is much better.

      • Easy enough to do a swap and sell the 12900k for profit :)

        • +1

Not many people would need that CPU power. Also the performance gap between 12700k and 12900k cannot justify the price difference.

          • +4

@BennyHe2018: Perhaps you don't know how good a value the rig I'm talking about was? Go look it up in the expired deals.

Lots of people don't need powerful cars, doesn't mean they don't want them.

            • @xyron: Yeah got your point. I would prefer Techfast deals since I don't need strong CPU performance.

        • Wouldnt you lose warrany if you do that?

    • Yeah, need to bring this one back for sure!

    • +2

Some people inquired and were told that deal would not be repeated. I think it was a price error because initially there were 100units and the deal was stopped at around 40. I managed to get one. If it comes back I would highly recommend it. It's a very powerful system.

And people don't realise every CPU throttles at some point depending on how you use the maximum turbo speed and your cooling solution. No such a thing as full throttle 100% of the time unless you are using ice. Anyway if you read the previous thread I used Intel's overclocking software to fine tune it perfectly.

      • +2

The vast majority of CPU's will never thermal throttle at stock speeds if adequately cooled. If you're talking about overclocking then yes, every CPU will throttle if you push it beyond your ability to cool it.

        • This is all Symantec's now. What's stock speeds? Base level or turbo max level? At stock speed it's 125w at turbo max 241w. Up to 200w (around 4.9GHz) even in a closed case like the 8950 with air cooling it doesn't break a sweat. Runs at around 65-70 degrees celcius at load. But running it at 241w will mean the fans will go much higher to cool the system which is possible but very noisy and unless you are doing extreme productivity work not much of a gain.

These new high performance CPUs are not like the previous 4/8 core processors where you could just overclock all cores from a base 3.2GHz (for example) to 4.5-5.0GHz. These CPUs are so fine tuned that there's very little room for overclocking aside from single performance gains unless using some extreme cooling measure like a 360 AIO in a decent case. Some will perform worse when overclocked because of how the cores behave.

Bottom line is look at what you are paying and the performance you get from it then compare. The techfast and BPC systems are good but they lack in some other feature like DDR5 RAM, some 16 GB instead of 32GB, gen 3 versus 4 NVME and an older motherboard. So it's a judgement call about what you regard is more important to you.

      • It won't be back this month.

  • OP any deal for laptop with 16gb ram?

    • The Inspiron 15 7506 is usually a cracker deal

      • -2

Thanks was hoping OP can negotiate a better deal when he use his special connection

      • so the i5 7506 is currently $1498.75 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/333747830269?epid=17050848372&ha… - are we suggesting its going to be 20% off that price?

        • hoping for an 8gb with a processor that isnt a poo and a real HD (the 7XX x 1080 screen kills deals)

  • +1

Hi Dealbot. Any deals for XPS or Alienware Desktop?

    • Aurora prices need to be more aggressive, otherwise BPC and TF deals are much better …

      • +1

Yep, especially GPU price is falling now. The thermal performance in normal tower case is so much better.

        • and top of range Alienware only have 512GB SSD while XPS have 1GB. The secondary 1TB hdd is paltry for such a pricy system

  • Is 27" the max that can be rotated to portrait mode?

    • Is there a max?

      • +1

My 32-inch ASUS ProART can rotate 90 degrees on its included stand.

        • I've only got a 24" in portrait.

But I presume the limiting factor for desk clearance is going to be the height of the arm, which can reach pretty high depending on the design of the type you buy.

          I've got a (landscaped) 24" stacked above a (landscaped) 27". So that's pretty high…

      • Yes. At the moment it is 370 inches, can't get a bigger screen than that right now.

  • +4

Unless you really need the extra 4 inches, the OLED AW3423DW is coming soon for a similar RRP to the AW3821DW

    • +2

key difference seems to be 175hz vs 144. I think I'd prefer the 4 extra inches (thats what she said).

      • +6

But you get OLED with aw3423dw

        • Can an OLED enthusiast please ELI5 why OLED is good for a PC monitor? I love my LG OLED TV but for a PC screen wouldn't there be significant risk of burn in?

          • @Tommybot: If you're talking about the LG OLED's, they're only a good choice as a media only screen. The combination of a glossy screen, low brightness and ABL doesn't make them great for work use.

If you're only using it for gaming you're unlikely to get burn in, but LG replace any panel up to 5 years so you'd likely be fine.

The new QD-OLED's from Samsung should be better for burn in

      • And resolution

      • +8

Not at all, key difference is the new one is QD-OLED and will make the AW3821DW look rubbish in comparison

        • I still prefer IPS overall. I think it looks more realistic because OLED colours "pop" too much.

Probably IPS with many zone local dimming is the best screen other than the ungodly cost.

AW3821DW implements a poor mans local dimming. It handles blacks pretty well for an IPS.

          • +4

@Diji1: This doesn't make sense, OLED has nothing to do with how much colours pop. In fact most Nano IPS panels on the market at the moment have higher colour gamut coverage than the LG C1. VA is best with local dimming as the native contrast makes blooming less noticeable

          • +2

@Diji1: Ahh hello if your colours are popping too much on the OLED how about enabling sRGB mode so they don’t?

Windows 11 seems to handle this pretty well with OLED HDR panels, no additional software required. No more over saturation….

        • Will be interesting to see for sure. I have the AW3821DW and was surprised about how much more colourful it was over my Acer Predator X34. I really notice the extra screen real estate on the 38 vs 34 and was waiting for LG to drop a 42" OLED TV (bought the AW38 as sick of waiting and it was a steal for $1299 last year). BTW a 42" 16:9 is the same width as a 38" UW just with more vertical pixels but no curve.

Anyway if they come out with a 38" curved OLED with a matt screen less than 2K i'd be in. I can't go back from 38" UW for gaming, so immersive.

      • +1

It's really 120Hz for the 38" unless you want top use 8 bit FRC instead of 10 bit colour mode.

    • The AW3423DW is certainly a new bar that's been set for monitors this year, but the obvious question is what stock levels are like at release.
It might help drive down prices of everything else if nothing else.

  • 1080p, didnt realise this was 1998

    • +15

Wow Marty, how did you manage to get your hands on a 1080P screen in 1998?

  • +3

Wait for the oled for sure. Night and day difference

  • -1

Does we still do that particular computer eBay store meme or is that long dead now? Forgot what the name was

  • +1

Can anyone recommend the Curved equivalent of the S2721DGF or better?
    1440
    IPS
    165Hz

Currently have two flat and was thinking about trying out Curved.

    • +4

Not really any point for curved small screens. On larger screens it brings the edges closer.

      • except if your main monitor is a 34" curved, having a curved 27" at the side makes it "flow" more pleasingly.

    • Isnt flat better at 27"? We have few gigabyte 27" monitor at office that are curved and I prefer the flat anyday over them. But YMMV :)

      • Just wanted to try the novelty of curved I guess.
Looks pretty good with 2 side by side.

    • +2

      S2722DGM

    • +1

It doesn't exist, illz. I searched for years. The only curved 27inch screens are cheap VA ones.
I experimented with them, but the VA kills it.
I ended up buying 2 S2721DGF's to sit either side of my AW3418DW, and now its perfect.
Having the flat screens in the periphery is actually fine.

  • +1

Is there anything bigger than 27 inch which has 4k and USB-C?

    • Dells, Lenovo and LG do.

  • The G15 lowest entry level 3050 machine after 20% is higher than the past $900+ mark? Same as the Ryzen Inspiron $799 which after 20% is still higher than past sales? No i5 Inspiron that I can see on their eBay store too.

Am checking on the go so can anyone confirm this?

  • Who will buy from Dell without discount now.

    • +6

People who don't know about OzB I guess.

    • A lot of people still buy from Harvey Norman

  • Are there any 27 inch monitors anyone would recommend? Primary use would be for my kids (non gaming).

  • +3

    WTF Dell, a 32" 1080p monitor…!?

    • Maybe good for an old play station or xbox. I wouldnt buy them though.

  • No 2-in-1s anymore?

  • Thoughts on getting this bad boy down a bit: S3222DGM

    Pros:
    1440p
    165hz
    2ms response rate
1800r curve for a larger screen
    Big screen
    VA panel for darker blacks
99% coverage of the sRGB colour space
Good stand including height and tilt adjustment

    Cons:
    699 retail price

    • +2

I think S3422DWG at 550 is also good, I got a refurbished one at $450, pretty happy with 3 years warranty.

    • If it's about price, then get the S2722DGM instead, especially if you're sitting closer than 70cm.

    • Here's to hoping it hits this price again

  • Any deals on Dell monitor arms in this sale?

    • +1

If it hasn't been on sale in past Dell ebay promos then it won't be in this one.

      • Hello does it actually take 1 month to ship the device or is it quicker?

  • What's the difference between S2421HN and S2421HS? Does the latter just have height adjustment and displayport?

    • Yep. FYI the colours are pretty poor on both. Calibration isn’t promising. The 27” panels fare better after calibration and are more accurate.

      • I'll be using for general office tasks so should be ok for my needs.
Anyone know how these Dell compare to the AOC 24B2XH or 24B2XHM (VA model). Broadly the same price after 20% Dell discount.

        • For general office tasks, a higher resolution is better, as it means sharper text (easier to read) and fitting more stuff on the screen - this is assuming your computer is reasonably modern and can support the resolution (3840x2160 or 2560x1440) at a decent refresh rate (60Hz or higher).

I used to use a 27" 2560 x 1440, which is great if you don't want scaling, however, since using 3840 x 2160 (4k) on a 27" panel with scaling, it's really opened up my eyes to how much sharper text can be. I'm using a Mac, which allows HiDPI scaling which scales down a much higher resolution image, which makes it look even sharper (it's showing as 6016 x 3384 but it's displayed as 3008 x 1692). So in effect, it's getting a higher resolution image (showing more on the screen) while at the same time being sharper (meaning I can have UI elements that are smaller and still legible). On Windows you can choose 125% scaling for a similar effect, or 150% if you want the same effective resolution as 2560 x 1440 (but sharper - 163PPI on 4k vs 109PPI on 2k).

Pretty much all ~24" 1080p screens are budget models these days, meaning screen quality isn't the best - they're also quite low density at around 93PPI. Go for a higher resolution if your budget allows - you thank yourself for it, plus not being able to see the pixels simply makes working so much more pleasant.

        • Also there's the Samsung SR350 in about the same price bracket.

TBH they all seem much of a muchness at this price point.

    • Also HN is 2xHDMI, HS is HDMI+DP.

Pondering two of the HN's to sit above my 34" for background tasks…

  • +1

Thanks Dealbot for another special. Unfortunately, now it seems like a 10-20% increase compared to previous deals. Inflation has hit most the products. 😕

    • +1

I think Dealbot mentioned last deal things will cost more after that deal? I was going to get a second monitor but decided to save that money for speakers instead. Small regret

      • +1

Yeah he did warn us. It was just an observation confirming that warning.

        • Haha yep unfortunately, inflation.

      • I blame dealbot for his warning. I FOMOd so sold the Dell 34 (still a great monitor) for the AW38. I do love it but it did cost a significant arm more. Still happy coz I saved. Ozbargain-lyf

  • I know they're not at a historically great price (just good) but what's up with the two listings for S2721DGF ?

    • +2

      5 years warranty?

    • +1

One has a 5 year warranty

    • Extra informations:

"Every 3 months a Dell technician comes to your house, dusts the screen off, sanitises it with isopropyl alcohol and does a colour calibration. It’s pretty good service really. I’m pretty happy with it so far."

      • Since when?

        • Since its Premium, not just 5 years.

        • Since it was a joke, I think!

          • @JL1: Apparently it’s not.

            • @ATangk: Mmm really? I doubt they would calibrate it every 3 months.

  • +1

Is there such a thing as gigabyte deal on ebay? I'm really keen to get M34WQ monitor but they are always sitting at 750-800 and I never found any discount or even past discounts for this monitor…

  • +1

Any chance the S2721DS will go a little more down in price?

    • +1

Nope, but it will be staying the same as January price.

      • +1

So will it be $289 or $299 because 20% off current listing is $299 unless I can't math
