Looks like it has a nasty mounting system

  • +1

it does, mine plastic "base" was broken a few months ago

  • Got the CoolerMaster h401r from the umart deal, I wonder how this compares

  • Id Cooling Se 224 XT is $29 from PLE. Is it better?

    • Well the ID is 120mm and OP's cooler is 92mm, so just from the specs it's going to be better.

I found the SE 224 is very easy to mount and very stable too - it's also thinner than the Gammax 400 (+13mm) or the 212 Evo (+7mm), so somewhat more clearance for RAM in small boards.

In terms of installation ease: SE 224 >> Gammax >>>> old 212 Evo. I hear the new 212 is much easier to mount though.

      • Just bought one and it’s pretty good. Can’t complain for $29. Better than the Intel stock cooler. My PC running between 30-35 degree.

Looks like it only has two heatpipes compared to 3 or 4 eg Gammax 400 v2 drops to 29 regularly.

  • You can get it cheaper at Scorptec itself cheaper.

  • Not to knock this deal too hard but apparently this cooler is pretty decent if you want something budget. (SNOWMAN 6 Heat Pipes CPU Cooler)
