Great, let's add another 653.59 dollars worth of unplayed games to my collection!

    • cost of Civ(n) = 2^n
      time spent playing Civ(n) = 1/n

  • +3

Great games that I’ll never play!

  • +10

I finally get to comment that I have just about everything in this bundle!
But for me the series peak was civ2, as that was the last time I could spend an all nighter on a civ game!

    • +4

Yep. Civ2 was an absolute blast back in the day. I install Civ4 or Civ5 occasional to play but never actually go through with it.

    • Civ IV with all expansions was the peak for me. Multiplayer was finally stable, single player campaigns were amazing (Rhye's and Fall, oh and the space one), the NPCs were hilarious and sarcastic and enjoyable to interact/mess with. Stacking units was fun to surprise multiplayer opponents with. They were all pretty good games but IV was easily my favourite, seemed to go down hill after that, and not just because I got older.

  • +1

OMG!!!! every game ever made!!!! including the expansions!!!

  • +7

You know which game needs a remake? Colonization. Damn I dropped a huge portion of my teen years into that game.

    • +2

Included in CIV IV package is Civ IV colonization. Plays fairly faithfully to the original, except no f trading house…unless you get a mod.

    • +4

@cmdwedge - Feedthetroll is correct. You should check out Civ IV's Colonization expansion

I have updated the post to highlight that this bundle includes Sid Meier's Civilization IV: The Complete Edition, which happens to include: base game, and the Warlords, Beyond the Sword, Colonization expansions

The Colonization expansion description on Steam:

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization is the third offering in the award winning Civilization IV series. A re-imagining of the classic Colonization game Sid Meier created in 1994, Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization is a total conversion of the Civilization IV engine into a game experience in which players will lead a European nation on their quest to colonize and thrive in the New World. Players will be challenged to guide their people from the oppressive motherland, discover a New World, negotiate, trade and fight as they acquire great power and battle for their freedom and independence.

      • Classic Game Design Rebuilt for the Modern Era: Usher forth a new generation of Sid Meier's Colonization gameplay built on the award-winning Civilization IV engine, providing the beautiful visuals, famously addictive gameplay and endless fun that are synonymous with Sid Meier strategy games.
      • Fight the Homeland and Establish a New Nation: Play as the English, Spanish, French or the Dutch and journey to a brave new world in search of freedom from your oppressive homeland.
Improved Diplomacy: Sustain peace and support your followers as you engage in advanced negotiations with natives, other colonists and the hostile homeland - Trade resources, gold and land as you build the foundation for a self-sufficient and powerful colony.
      • Historical Figures Provide Adaptive Gameplay: Acquire founding fathers such as John Smith, Patrick Henry and Samuel Adams who will help guide your nation to freedom based on your gameplay style.
      • Brand New Interface: Both Civilization IV fans and players new to the series will feel right at home with an interface that Firaxis has built to be accessible and easy to navigate.
Multiplayer Offers Endless Replay Value: Compete with friends from all over the world via the Internet and Play by Email modes or compete locally via the Hotseat and LAN modes, offering endless ways to conquer the New World.
      • Mods & Community Tools: Players will have limitless options for modifying the game to suit their needs. Firaxis will ship the game with modding tools including a map editor using XML and Python.

I've heard great things about the We the People mod. I went so far as to set it all up, not a trivial process, but didn't have time to really sink my teeth into.

  • +6

    No Civ 2?

I'm a man of simple pleasures.

  • +4

A lot of gamers probably have quite a bit of the bundle. If you are late to the party it really is an amazing bundle. Definitely getting your money's worth here. Can be a bit addictive unfortunately.

    • +1

That's like saying crack can be a bit addictive.

  • +11

Honestly they should just remaster Civ 2. It was perfect. The mechanics were simple to grasp yet hard to master.

Honestly I can't quite pin why the later games weren't as fun. Maybe the lack of actors in the council?

    • +1

I think they added complexity to the mechanics with no obvious payoff that it made much difference.

    • To justify taking some more of your hard earned or easy received trust fund money.

    • +1

You can totally rout the game by stacking units though

    • No complaint sire!

    • I disagree, your excellency

    • +1

I know I'm not the only one who had a crush on the Foreign Minister

      • I know what you mean.

I suspected she might have been a Russian double agent at the end and didn't care.

    • Great I needed this comment! I have 2,3,4 and xpacs as well as pirates (I have other classics listed there but havent played them). I grabbed base V and just…couldn't get back into a rhythm.

I assumed it was similar to how I always seem to enjoy diablo 2, baldurs gate 2 / snes through ps2 rpgs and srpgs like tactics ogre more than most newer games in those genres. I like an engaging story and gameplay hooks but if one is strong enough I can play* a visual novel or a game that ignores story entirely (things like rhythm games, puzzle games or high adrenaline bullet hells/platformers etc.

So In your opinion getting V complete, VI mostly complete and beyond earth probably aren't going to ignite a spark?
I have no shortage of untouched shame so I should probably ignore it anyway. the consensus seems to be stick with what I already own and maybe try a mod.

      (day1 rdr2 is still in plastic >.<)

  • Even with all that, there still seems to be 9 more civ VI dlc

    • +1

I'm pretty sure the New Frontier Pass will complete Civ VI. Just have to buy it separately with the coupon.

    • @menvert - ozbs25 is correct. The Game Bundle includes a US$15 coupon discount that can be applied towards the New Frontier Pass (regular price is A$59.95), which AFAICT contains the remaining Civ VI packs, as per Steam description:

Continue your quest to build your greatest empire with the Civilization VI - New Frontier Pass, featuring eight new civilizations and nine new leaders, and a variety of new gameplay content, including six new game modes. The New Frontier Pass includes:

The Persona Packs are available exclusively to owners of the New Frontier Pass and will be delivered with the second add-on pack.

      • The price on HB for the NFP after the coupon is $25.39, whilst buying the rest of the Civ VI Anthology on Steam was $24.57.

  • +1

wow that's hilariously cheap, epic find

civ 5 alone on g2a is like $12 lol and that's a steal imo

    • +1

Civ V has been on so many bundles, it's definitely not worth $12

      • maybe, but if you're trying to buy when not on sale $12 is pretty good vs $60 or whatever it is on Steam

spent over 500 hrs on it, the game has depth particularly war mechanics, you can't say that about most games and i've played a lot of games

i judge games based on replay value, most triple AAA games are dull as hell and i can't even clock more than 10-20 hrs on them

For anyone purchasing this, don’t forget to adjust your donation using the drop-down menu.

The default allocation of your donation pays a lot of money to the Humble company and not much at all to the charity!

If you adjust your donation, you can increase the proportion of your payment that is given to the charity.

    • thanks for the good reminder on adjusting donation amounts, I've updated the post to describe this, cheers!

Thanks, didn't want the whole bundle so bought Railroads! for $2.49 instead :)

    • +1

I have a real soft spot for SMR!, too bad it's almost impossible to play multiplayer.
I still fire it up every so often to destroy the AI.

The Mac port is really good too.

    • Railroads is the only one I have. It keeps crashing on me. ive deleted & re-loaded, but it still happens

      • +1

Not knowing which specific version your copy is from (e.g. from Steam, GOG, retail CD, some other store) … perhaps PCGamingWiki's page on Railroads! might help you troubleshoot things at your end?

  • +2

    Do I need this? No.
    Did I buy this? Yes.

  • +1

Kudos to the poster for the effort to link all the games to the steam pages.

Most of it already, except Beyond Earth and Starships

  • Good deal. I bought mine during the last steam sale but haven't played yet. Maybe I should of waited.

  • +1

If i already didnt have 95% of these i would buy it.

  • Pirates! still rocks, when I'm not playing C&C.

  • Some of these games were from past Bundles ?

  • This makes me want another round with Populous.

  • +1

I want to try Civ. But I only want to buy one game. Which one do I get?

    • Civ 6, try vanilla then the major expansions R&F and G&S separately - three different experiences

  • Just came across this BBC article, thought I'd share it here given the Civilization-focused game bundle:

… Speaking to the BBC on the 30th anniversary of its release, the brains behind Civilisation is warning the games industry to remember why people play in the first place.

"The real challenge and the real opportunity is keeping our focus on gameplay," says American developer Sid Meier.

"That is what is unique, special and appealing about games as a form of entertainment. When we forget that, and decide it's monetisation or other things that are not gameplay-focused, when we start to forget about making great games and start thinking about games as a vehicle or an opportunity for something else, that's when we stray a little bit further from the path."

… Sid says he has no plans to retire just yet, and explains the most gratifying change he's experienced during his more than 30 years in the industry, is the wider public's shift in attitude when it comes to games.

People were telling him back in 1991 that he was "wasting his time" working in games - now he smiles, as people say to him: "I wish I could get a job making games."
