    Bought one, thank you OP.
If you are paying with CBA card you may have an option to bring price further down by $15 by using CBA Rewards

    • +2

i did this as well, i forgot to mention. will add.

    • I believe it's $80, so don't forget to add something small to the cart to bring it up past that threshold :)

    • Paid with CB debit card but did not get $15 discount at checkout. Or is it a cashback?

      • +1

I got it couple days after the purchase as the cash back on your card.
Normally the app give you notification too once it credited to your card.

  • Black one shows as $99 then once you go to cart it jumps to $279.95, both on the mobile & computer?

    • +1

Black seems to be broken or isn't a part of the promo. hmmm

      • +2

Just figured it out, the black is reduced to $99.99 for club members, the blue is for anyone plus you get the extra 20% (the black you don't the extra 20%).

  • +1

Got a hooded one since my last one was ruined after it went in the washing machine.
    Cheers OP

    • so, not good to machine wash it ?

      • +1

From my experience, no, because the feather inside will shift around, and it doesnt distributes evenly afterwards

        • +1

Even tried the dryer + tennis balls combo?

Supposed to help refluff it after going in the wash.

      • +3

Front loader only gentle cycle with a specific down wash. Otherwise just a hand wash or you'll ruin the down.

      • +1

It's fine. You just need to use certain detergent, on a gentle wash in a front loader.

Dry in a drier with spikey balls, stopping regularly to fluff it out.

    • +3

I've machine washed an expensive hi loft down jacket and it didnt lose any volume that I could tell. Front loader, wool cycle I think with specific down detergent and a couple of tennis balls from memory

      • I've never washed down before. What do the tennis balls do?

        • +1

Helps with separating and fluffing up the garments.

      • +2

The front loader dryer with the tennis balls is the important part. Washing it will definitely make the down clump but after a dry with the tennis balls, it is as good as new.

OP if you still have your down jacket you might be able to revive it still.

        • Thanks, will try it out

        • yeah the balls go in the drier, knew I'd forgotten something! The other recommendation is to lay jacket flat on towels for a while to absorb most of the moisture before going in the drier

  • I can never understand which are warmer - Halo or Mercury

    • +1

      Mercury

      • +6

Nah halo is warmer, Mercury at about an XL size has roughly 120grams of down. Non hooded halos start from memory around the 170ish mark.

Used to be a manager at a Macpac store.

  • +1

At this price should be hooded!!

  • I only see New Balance and Toys R Us in Commbank rewards.

Anyone know if i'm a size S in Kathmandu, should i go XS or S in Macpac?

    • +1

i would say yes, only knowing I'm a macpac large and a kathmandu xl.

go in store if you can. they'd have them everywhere.

  • Can someone recommend whether to go true size or going a size lower?
    Thanks

    • -1

      It’s true to size

      • Source: I have one from previous years deal.

      • +1

I vehemently disagree with this, and if you go through the myriad of past deals they all state that these absolutely run large. I haven't worn Small since I was a kid but it was the right size for my Halo.

    • im a M usually but XS fits me perfect

      go 2 sizes down

    • 2 sizes lower

    • Got this in-store last week, so I was able to try different sizes. Went one size lower than my usual size. I'd recommend trying it on if possible.

    • If you're female, go a size up.

    • +25

Based on the above either go 2 sizes up, one down or get your regular size. Hope that helps

  • Some other colours would be nice.

I always wonder the actual cost of these jackets including NF and Kathmandu should be this much or may be around $60?

    • -1

I'd estimate around $15 or less FOB

    • I guess so too. I think around 70 sounds reasonable. Not sure why you've been downvoted, it's just your opinion

  • How's this compare to warmth of the uniqlo ones? Is this thicker?

  • I have a black one from promo in 2016, I now have a blue one. Thanks!

its never that cold in Australia to wear one of these

    • Depends. The lowest it's gotten at my house is -12. Sometimes it's below zero until 10am.

    • Tough guy! It most definitely does get cold enough to wear one.
Amazing for cooler weather camping. Takes up hardly any space in the pack.

  • +1

I have had mine for 2 winters in Canberra, dry cleaned thrice. Loving it worth every dollar.

    • +1

I thought the Canberra Winter uniform was Kathmandu…

  • +1

I bought this just before going camping and hugely regretted not getting the hooded version. If you're doing anything other than just usual around town kind of wearing I absolutely implore you to spend the little extra and get that version.

  • "Get $15 @ CBA Rewards" Can someone please tell me how to avail this?
My CBA app does not show this offer?

    • Same here… May be targeted

  • How's compared to the one from Aldi?

    • I bought one from Aldi, which came with a non-padded hood (1 thin cloth layer)

      • +1

I find Aldi one pretty good for $49 tbh. I have both but Aldi one for the price is too good.

  • Some more bargains:

(coming down from $800 to $280)

    https://www.macpac.com.au/macpac-mens-sundowner-pertex-hoode…
(coming down from $430 to $160)

  • Thanks OP, got a hooded one.

  • OOS now

  • -2

The down that Macpac use isn't actually ethical and was very likely pulled from live animals (their RDS certificate allows for this)

    • Source?

  • +1

    Not bhed. Good soize.

    Someone's excited.

  • Thanks OP. Went in store yesterday and bought stuff that wasn’t available online. $320 down to $112.

    • Glad to hear!
