You sure? The prices are GST inclusive and they've listed the ABN. I'd have thought if they were trading locally then they have to take on any customs costs.

Harvey Norman offered it /single lens/ for $966 for couple of weeks recently.
Do yourself a favour and give the kit lenses a miss. Put the dollars towards a decent lense.
Agreed. Two lenses are a pain and one better lens will give you much better quality.
Price is a good indicator of the quality of the lens. There is a Canon 18-200 but I have not tried it.
Bad idea. It's not going to come from an Australian warehouse, it will be shipped direct from Hong Kong and you're at their mercy for warranty. Also, it's $1000+ so you either pay customs duty, or cross your fingers and hope that customs don't catch you while you deliberately break import laws.
