You guys are late to the party I'm afraid..

The above's pricing is INCLUDING GST and shipping, yours isn't.

By the way, GST is legally required to be included in the price shown upfront, you can't just tack it on at the end of checkout. That's illegal

    • -4

It's added at the checkout and displayed before payment is made. legal.

      • +1

If you pick up a box of cereal at the store and it says $5.00, then you scan it at the self-service checkout and it says $5.50 because of GST, that is illegal

We are a small business, we aren't buying in 10 million at a time like Rapidproof I'm afraid, but feel free not to support small Australian owned business.

$12.70 for shipping… and $8.27 for GST… Both excluded from the initial price tag of "$7 each"

    Not a good price.

Final price is more than $10 a pack.

    • +3

Omitting the shipping fee is one thing, but doing it for GST outside of B2B? Have a neg for this illegal practice.

        • -1

It's added at the checkout and displayed before payment is made

      • GST is charged on every sale.

    • -2

Yet still less than most retailers.

        • Not every business is buying in 10 million at a time like Rapidproof I'm afraid, many are happy to support a small business offering the best price they're able.

      What an excellent contribution.

Nope. Cheaper many other places and free in WA.

“ Our Director has over 15 years’ experience in procurement, manufacturing, strategy, sales and relationship management.”

Pity those 15 years of experience hasn’t prevented jumping on the bandwagon way too late, poor strategy.

      • That's how small businesses start……..

The business was started in October, before they were legally allowed to be sold. Im not sure that's too late to the party :)

Showing ex gst price on your website is not legal.

        That is illegal

as per the ACCC: Read a book.
"A business may separately indicate the GST component of price, but it must not be done in a way which may mislead consumers as to the actual price to be paid. Similarly, a business may include a statement that the price includes GST, but there is no legal requirement to do so. Providing consumers with additional information as to the amount of GST in the price or stating that the price includes GST is a commercial decision.

          • @[Deactivated]: "A business may separately indicate the GST component of price, but it must not be done in a way which may mislead consumers as to the actual price to be paid."
No where on the product page does it say that GST is not included. Tricking customers into thinking a product is X price and then showing GST at checkout is deceptive and shonky. Your actions are illegal.

If you don't believe this is illegal, I am happy to refer your website to the ACCC and let them determine directly.

          • @[Deactivated]: You really need to re-read what you quoted, Katherine.

The optional part refers to displaying of GST component separately, or a "GST included" statement next to the price.

What's not optional is your initial price display (not at checkout) which must be the total price.

            Read and understand this: https://www.accc.gov.au/publications/advertising-selling/adv…

            Advertising and selling guide

            Component pricing

When you present prices to your consumers, you should state the total price. This applies to advertising across all mediums. If you promote a price that is only part of the total price of goods or services, you must also include the total price (as a single figure) at least as prominently as the part price. It is also illegal to represent to consumers that the price of a component or components is the total price.

The single price must include any tax, duty, fee, levy or other additional charges (e.g. GST or airport tax). It should also include any optional fees or charges pre-selected for the consumer during the purchasing process unless and until they are de-selected by the consumer.

If you think this is false, with your ABN on this page + screenshots of your website, I'm sure someone can send it to ACCC here: https://www.accc.gov.au/contact-us/contact-the-accc/report-a…
