True Wireless Low-Latency Gaming Earphones $12 (Was $35) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ $65 Order) @ Kmart

700

I have owned these for a few months now, and they're pretty solid for what they are. Decent battery playtime life, and they've become my all-rounder set of earphones. Can chuck them in a gym bag, or use them for portable gaming. They work well with the Nintendo Switch too. Only downside is the microphone - it's rubbish and pretty typical for these cheap sets.

Stock levels seem to vary based on location. They are a little low in South Australia across the board.

  • How's the fit in the gym?
    Does it fall out?

    • The fit is really good. The instructions tell you to put the earphone into your ear straight, then twist to lock them into your ear - and that works really well. They're suprisingly comfortable for such a cheapie set.

      • Thx. Do think it Would be okay for running?

        • No worries. Yep, they never feel like they're slipping for me. Obviously different people fit earphones differently, but I think overall they fit better than most earphones I've owned in the past

      • +2

Warning: twisting ear can make it fall off…

        • Thx
          Not sure why the negs

      • Your description reminds me of the ear wax removal tool on Yt.

  • Are they really low latency? Could you play an FPS game with them?

I have the Sony over ear BT headphones as well as some Jabra elite BT headphones and they both lag too much to be useful in COD Mobile.

    • 30fps maybe
      60 probs not

      • +42

The human ear can't hear more than 30fps

        • -2

I don't know how fps translates to sound, but my phone runs at 120hz screen refresh rate.
When playing cod mobile I'm dead before I hear anyone coming using my regular latency BT headphones.

        • +5

Humans also can't hear more than 88MPH.

            @McFly: Hello McFly? Anyone home?

            • +3

@zzymurgy: Actually, yes. I've been stuck in iso for a week!

    • +1

I actually play a fair bit of COD Mobile, and while there is still a tiny bit of latency even in the low latency mode, it's pretty good. Does what it says on the box.

      • Perfect!

Do you mind sharing what phone you play on? Not sure if BT connections play a role.

I'm using a galaxy fold 3 which I assume would have the best Bluetooth possible given it's a current gen flagship.

        • +1

          Too easy.

I play on a ROG Phone 3 - so I'm assuming we would be on the same BT version.

Edit: one thing to mention to help you if you do get these. You need to tap twice on one earphone to trigger the low latency mode. Do this as soon as you power on the buds, as the confirmation sound it makes when switching between low latency/normal mode are horribly confusing. If you switch modes as soon as you switch them on, you'll know for sure you're in LL mode.

      • Wireless earphones/headphones are not recommended for Battle Royale games like PUBG and COD that "genuinely" uses real time sound. Miss a millisecond of enemy's footstep and you are dead :D
PS: Depends on the user level/tier though. Can't just stand an ace lobby with a Bluetooth earpiece.

This post sent me down a rabbit hole.
I'm now completely the NOT proud owner of a Kmart "Gaming Microphone" (and other shit). Had to try it.

    • +1

Hahaha! Their gaming/streaming equipment is tempting, but I've never taken the gamble on it. Seems serviceable for the price though according to YouTube reviews.

      • I'm not exactly taking the purchase seriously.

But on the other hand I actually did need a microphone for recording some stuff. If it's decent I'll actually use it. If it's not I'll give it away.

      • I would buy the 25 cent USB mic but nothing else

    • +1

From all reports, knocks it out of the park for the cost. Myself and a friend both use it for discord and have no issues at all.

Makers Muse, an aussie 3D printing guy did a small review on them when he first came across them - pretty unbiased: https://youtu.be/1M84sgLRmF0

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed some for my son. 👍

  • Hows the Mic on this one?

    • +1

Pretty rubbish unfortunately. Don't buy this if you're looking for a good set for phone calls and the like.

  • +1

    Cheers OP :)

  • Can't go wrong for this price! Grabbed a pair… just because.

I really wonder how long do these low quality products last. They'll probably becomes very bad landfill when they do.

    • +3

      They'll be average landfill

    • +1

I agree with you, but without knowing the landfill process, these are pretty tiny, and I'd expect them to last me at least 2 years. Nespresso capsules on the other hand…

      • 2 years ain’t too bad. Some of my buddies bought headphones that lasts 6-12 months from Amazon.

    • how long does a pair of expensive Apple airpods last? most likely battery will not hold much charge after 2-3 years too

      • +1

Been using a pair of 2nd gen AirPods since the start of 2020, haven't noticed/experienced any poor battery life. That's with relatively heavy usage (between 50-100hrs of use a month, depends whether on holidays or not) over the course that I've had them.

        • that sounds good, how much you paid for that pair of airpods?

          • +1

@DarthLord: $175, off Gumtree. Brand new in box, still sealed. That person bought it at Officeworks. Bought it around Feb 2020.

Have also used a cheaper pair of AirPods clones (the i30 Supers), battery life definitely wasn't as long.

  • The case has a bit of a Kobe logo look.

  • +1

Low latency codec aptxll/faststeam is rarely supported from the transmitter side. There's also a licensing fee.
Doubtful these would do anything for gaming.

Look up avantree headphones as an example if you really want to play fps with wireless headphones.

  • Is there no latency earbuds that can be used for pc?

    • +6

Yes. Any wired pair will do.

      • Sorry I meant to say wireless.

  • How do they compare to Redmi Buds 3 lite that were $26 the other day?

  • +1

Good to see that even the cheapest devices now have USB-C ports. (Ironic that the most expensive phones don't but that's another story…)

  • +1

    10$ shipping for a 12$ item :s Can't find in the vicinity

    • Yeah same, woulda popped for 12 but not for 22.

      • +2

Buy more shit. That's always the ozbargain answer. Average delivery cost over five items :p

        • +2

          Speaking like a true ozbargainer.

          • +2

@xoom: I'm the proud owner of a laptop pad thing, another mouse pad I don't need. A Kmart condenser mic and a……. Cork… Thing.

Average delivery cost per item like $2.

            • @Dvbargain: Trying to control the ozbargain addiction..

If something does not checkout, just don't force it on you 😂

I tried to add more stuff in the cart to see when it becomes free shipping though lol

              • @sqheaven: Give in. Cheaper than modifying cars I always say :p or like.. Most other hobbies.

              • @sqheaven: Haha yeah I did the same, free shipping starts at $100.

  • There are so many QCY earphones which are well reviewed and similar in price

    • So post them as deals? Do you have a link I can check out?

  • Thanks OP, ordered 2 from the nearest store that listed stock. They must have got ozbargained during checkout as they emailed shortly after saying no stock at that store but they'd ship for free from elsewhere. Bonus!

    • Yeah. Got the same message.

  • i don't seem to be able to get the earbuds to charge. the case charges fine but the earbuds are lifeless

    • Damn!

      Just double check these things:
      - earphones properly sitting on the charge contacts in the case
      - try pairing after the case lid is open and earbuds are still in case (don't take out earphones til they've paired
      - what do the numbers read in the LED panel inside the case?
-case should pulse green if the earphones need charging. Also pulses green when charging the case itself.

Failing all of that, I'd return them.

      • yeah, i tried cleaning the contacts as suggested in the manual but the buds didn't appear to charge. returned.

  • Do they sound good? How do they compare to any other earphone sets you all have, even if the others are wired? I’m in need of wireless earbuds and I’ve been burnt before buying $109 Lypertek Z3 / Tevi 2.0 earbuds from Amazon as one side didn’t fully recharge so I got a refund for them.

    • Got myself the last pair. I had to travel quite a long distance from melbourne to geelong for pickup. They sound decent for the price, it’s a bargain. It overall sounds high quality. But the sub bass and bass sound a bit over exaggerated. Overall well worth it for disposable high quality sounding stealthy work wireless earphones. Still doesn’t beat genuine wired earpods in overall balanced sound as in flat (bass mids and highs). But if you love bass these Kmart earphones are great for that. It doesn’t sound terrible, it sounds high quality and it’s a bargain. Call quality is inconsistent, I’ve had it drop calls too many times as touching the earphone disconnects the call too easily.
