Think of it as buy the Z5 and get the $1300 lens and $300 bag for free

Even better than the deal I posted 7 months ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/640405, and includes a free $300 bag.

Cheapest ever according to CCC by $200.

Get a FREE LowePro PhotoActive BP 300AW Backpack with purchase of the participating Nikon camera. Click 'Add Both To Cart' to add both items to cart. Next, proceed to checkout and the price of the Backpack will be deducted from your cart total. Offered by Amazon AU. (normally $299)

Most (non grey) stores are selling the body only for $1800, and the lens for around $1300. Eg Teds has the bundle for $3200. This is about the price for the body plus kit lens.

Amazon will have 2 year Nikon Australia Warranty (sold and shipped by Amazon AU).

Very good entry level full frame camera, with a very good superzoom (for a superzoom).

Some downsides of the Nikon Z system include:
-No native 3rd party lenses yet, native lens selection not as comprehensive as Sony
-Tracking AF not quite as good as Sony / Canon
-Questions over Nikon's long term financial viability

Great camera, yes Nikon is still behind in some regards when compared to other brands but on its own this is still a very capable kit. Note that this model in particular has a crop factor applied to its video functionality so would recommend as a photo camera.

The crop factor only applies to 4K shooting, so it really depends what you're using it for. If you're shooting wildlife for example then the crop factor can actually be a good thing because you're getting some extra reach at full resolution with whatever focal length you're using. If you're shooting wide at higher frame rates then options like 1080p at 60fps are uncropped. I agree it's probably more suited to still photographers if you need more flexibility with the video options though.

  • "Questions over Nikon's long term financial viability"

I think you can put that speculation to bed.. Nikon have sold a crap-ton of Z9 cameras lately and there is still a massive waitlist. Nikon will be ok..

    • As a Nikon user, I hope you are right!

    It's $2,951.00 now.

    • I agree. Party is over (free bag should still be there lol). Didn't last long

      • Amazon do this annoyingly often with their pricing algorithms…advertising dirt cheap price until someone buy then revert back to normal price.

Buy Nikkon if going mirrorless… Avoid Canon. Their lens will destroy your bank account

    • Nikon lenses are just as expensive. If you are concerned with the cost of full frame lenses, then go for either Sony FE or Lumix/Sigma L-mount systems.
