According to Whirlpool forums (via Reddit) GTA V on PS5 is available as a preorder for $14.99

Taken from a Whirlpool forums user:

GTA V PS5 version (including story and online) coming up on the Aus ps store as a preorder for $14.99. It says it’s an introductory price and standard price is AU $59.95. I can’t find it on the web store but if you go to the store on your ps5 and go to the preorder section it is in there. Wondering if it’s a price error as another article suggests it’s meant to be 50% off in this introductory period. Which would mean it should be $30. For $15 I’m going to grab it now. Basically what it should have been as an upgrade fee.

Edit: definitely think it’s a pricing error or to do with the fact gta online is going to be free on ps plus for a few months. As it’s coming up for preorder on my Xbox for $29.97 down from $59.95.

I haven't tried to buy it yet so let me know if it doesn't work but I will be trying when I get home shortly.

    Any point getting this if you have the PC version? Anything other than FPS and resolution boots over the PS4 one?

    I got it free on Epic games and played it in 21:9 at over 100 FPS

    I've never played GTA in my whole life, I don't mind $15 for a PS5 version rather than $20-30 for a PS4 disc.

              @DarkSide: The native PS5 version will have enhanced abilities such improved load times, higher fidelity, Ray tracing and faster frame rate etc. Also being digital you wont have to use your disc to play.

    Perhaps PS5 GTA story mode pre-order is currently $14.99 because its online mode is currently free on PS5 whereas on xbox the online mode is currently $15 and $29.99 for the story mode mode pre order. $14.99 PS5 may be the actual price and not price error as some speculate for the pre order at present and for the short term as long as the online mode is free on the Sony platform which balances out price compared with xbox counterpart.

      There is some changes such as higher traffic density (which I’m not sure will be a great thing necessarily) and some fast cars go faster now because the systems can keep up with streaming the world in. Haven’t heard of anything as important as say the introduction of first person mode that the previous gen got but.

      For $15 if you like the game and would replay it, I imagine prettier graphics and hopefully close to zero load times would make it more enjoyable.

        This. I don't understand all the haters complaining about it — $15 is a fair price for a full PS5 game.

        ~4K/60fps with raytracing on PS5 is a huge improvement from 1080p on the PS4 version.

      Having skipped the PS4 I’ve just finished God of War 3 Remastered and The Last of Us Remastered and am now onto TLOU2. In my to play pile is also Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian, Uncharted 3 and 4 and the latest God of War.

      All those PS4 releases will be seperate by a bit of Gran Turismo 7, but for the most part I think I’ll be on PS4 content for a while.

          I did own a PS 3 and had played GoW3 and TLOU originally but had wanted to give the remasters a run through again. GoW3 was a large part of why I purchased a PS3 to begin with and also wanted to give TLOU another spin before going into the sequel. I’ve also played Uncharted 1 and 2 at the time but never the third but don’t feel I need to revisit the original two outings.

          Never owned a PS1 or 2 but.

          As it stands the back library will keep me busy for some time.

      Further to deadpoets comment, Sony published games won’t have free upgrades any more. Horizon Forbidden West was the last. I assume third party publishes can still choose to offer free upgrades if they want.

    The price is halved (compared to the xbox), for 3 months because Sony is undercutting the GTA Online cost for that period.

    So you can get a "deal" with the RRP til June for GTAV which is old as hell, and regularly been as cheap as $15-20 anyway, so I wouldn't call it a "deal" at all.

    I thought this was supposed to be a "free" PS5 update if you owned PS4 version? But seems nobody can answer right now…

    Surely the most lucrative game of all time by this point?

      Most disappointing entry for me. Not because it was a bad game, but because they sold out for online micro transactions and milking the game over 3 generations of consoles. We could have had more single player content or even a new game in that time. Greedy rockstar…they’ve fallen far since GTA IV. That game was great then they added two really quality DLC’s…even the online was great. GTA V is now like Saints Row, or at least the online went that way.

          They promised single player DLC and then scrapped the plans to make any to focus on adding content to online. So it's quite easy to understand how online affected the single player experience, especially when we haven't had any single player DLC that was promised in a games 9-year life span.

            @Z9Plasmahh: I made the comment as a controversial opinion, but I still patently disagree with both counter arguments raised. Just because it could have been improved with DLC does not in any way shape or form alter the quality of the original product. Yes the SP is still the same game it was when we were grappling with the Red Ring of Death, but we don't use the same argument against other classic titles that never received substantial content updates. I don't get why GTA V is any different.

      Possible reasons:

      • People wanting to take advantage of a pricing error which will most likely be honoured (FOMO). PC version was offered free via Epic store.
      • Digital version on the console. Disc not needed. You do get lazy once you get used to fast SSD load so you don't want to insert / swap discs.
      • Rockstar not offering free upgrade it seems. Online gets free upgrade though.

      Same reason people get hyped up everytime a remastered version of an old game comes out… Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Skyrim, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Witcher 3 for PS5 (upcoming) etc. Why should this one be any different?

      I guess you're the type of person that likes watching your favorite movie on VHS even though BETA was better, instead of embracing BR UHD 4K right?
      Given there is also a frame boost from 30 FPS to 60 FPS, I doubt you could even begin to understand what this does to a game like this?
