A pretty reasonable discount on a new wheelset that seems to compare favourably the Logitech G Series wheels.

  • what's the best option to go with GT7?

    • +3

I got myself a used Logitech G29 on eBay for less than $300 with coupons/vouchers and have been very happy with it so far.

      • G29 hang checking-in, goes good on GT7

    • Bought myself a fanatec DD pro , upgraded to V3 pedal+180nm PSU and bought a GT omega prime cockpit. can't complain except for cost.

      • cool, where did you get them from and roughly how much does these cost?

        • +2

Roughly $2500. From official fanatec website.

@tyb1987: cheers mate, thanks for your reply. guess you were negged being too rich… lol

            • @HD9990: That's not even the best option :p

(though to be fair it breaks new ground for direct drive dynamic range per dollar).

  • Currently have an older G27, anyone have any recommendations on the best bang for buck upgrade without spending Fanatic money?

    • +2

If you don’t want DD just anything is ok except for a controller, G29 or T150 Pro is the cheapest option but does not necessary mean best value for money though.

Wish these sorts of niche controllers were cross compatible between PC/XBox/PS, mainly because the flight sticks situation on consoles is shit and partly because I have a G920 and a PS5 and XSX..

    • get a used fanatec csl elite

    • A drive hub should do?

  • Are these wheels worthwhile if you are desk mounting with an office chair as opposed to a foldable cockpit set up?

    • It will never be as good as you think. Need the desk chair to not move, also desk chair is fully upright compared to sports car seating. All will be better than a controller though.

      • Definitely share the sentiment that a wheel is better than a controller. Have been a lifelong Gran Turismo player and have always played on controller and decided for GT7 I would grab a wheel and my god it has made the experience infinitely times more fun.

        • im in the same situation - played all the GTs on controller and thinking about a wheel for GT7… did you get a rig or are you desk mounted?

          • @tangy: Desk mounted on an IKEA table using my computer chair. It's not perfect/realistic but it does the job.

    • Gave me a sore back whenever i did that. You'll also push yourself backwards when pressing on the pedals if the chair isn't secured somehow.

    • If the desk is solid enough it's not too bad, but monitor shake can be quite distracting if the wheelbase is strong enough. I went for one of those foldable rigs for the wheel and pedals and put that in front/under my desk, and bought some locking castor wheels for my office chair so it doesn't move back. Also worth noting my chair has the option to tilt backwards so I can get into a decent enough racing position.

    • This is as high as you wanna go on a desk.

In saying that. sadly the Thrustmaster and Logitech clamos/desk mounts have several design flaws that will likely see them break after a couple of years if you're tightening them up to a desk everyday.

Thrustmaster one in particular has a metal mount screwing straight into plastic which makes it very easy to thread and break the thread over time.
