I still think we are going to see much much better when Intel launches..

    • +1

well intel keeps pushing things back

this short term crypto bear will be over before they launch and if they are any decent when it comes to mining then i think we can pretty much forget about decent gpus for the rest of 2022

a lot of people assume the crypto bull is over but unfortunately that doesn't look likely, we are still on course for a blow off top early 23

i appreciate no one wants to hear it but at least consider it as a possibility

      • ETH switching away from proof of work is what truly matter a lot more at this stage than price. Once it becomes unminable then whether price is high or low doesn't matter for miners. That is when they will dispose of hardware en masse. This still looks to be on track for mid year.

        • This still looks to be on track for mid year.

That's what they said, like, years ago

        • 2 points

1 - ETH transition to PoS is going to take a lot longer than anyone is speculating, mid year no chance, some time in 2023 would be early, this isn't a simple transition, even if they believe devs are optimistic it's is so complex that they'll continue to run across roadblocks that will constantly push any optimistic date further back, also these dates are often misquoted and completely inaccurate, the crypto media is worse than the MSM when it comes to getting things right - yes they are that bad
2 - it is largely irrelevant to GPU prices since there are plenty of PoW tokens to mine, as long as mining is profitable you can expect it to impact GPU prices

        • It has been 'on track for this year' for literally 5-6 years.
Also, you underestimate the volume of miners around and those that want to make some money.
Another coin will rise to be the new mining king.

Well honestly who would pay $700 for a low/mid range card (aside from miners and people addicted to video games). When average gamers stop getting sucked into panic buying and crypto pisses off we will see reasonable deals. Currently everything is still 30% overpriced when it was 50% overpriced. Who would buy now with lower prices on the horizon? Lol @ them buying at the start of a crash

      • -1

its you, you bought at the start of the crash and ur now salty and sour grapes lol.

Lol I am currently a GTX 970 dude. I actually had a GTX 1080 (I bought used for $340) and sold it for $690 last year.

$690 was far too tempting for a 5 year old card. I will use this profit to offset the ridiculous price of my next GPU. ie If I can snag a new 3060ti for $600 then I'm only out of pocket $250. $250 is what I expect a 3060ti to retail for so ultimately I win

    • Intel is only planning to supply 4 million units total by the end of 2022. AMD and Nvidia combined ship 10-15 million units combined per quarter. Intel's entry to the market is not going to affect prices as much as some are hoping.

i paid $730 4 weeks ago, oh no whatever will i do about losing $50

  • Lol $700 for a low/mid range card what a bargain. To quote others these "incredible" deals are so "cheap" and tempting.

    • if you are gaming in 1080p then it might as well be high end because you are going to get great performance out of that 6600 xt and it's going to give you that performance with a trickle of electricity

but hey, if you don't really game much at all or you are happy with your current card for the rest of 2022 then fine, just ride it out for another 12 months

maybe like every gamer is hoping the crypto bull run is over and prices continue to drop - but as long as you are aware of the other possibility at least you can make the decision fully aware of what potentially lies ahead

    • it's better than a 1080ti in that it has the same performance but consumes half the energy. And I wouldn't exactly call people that use 1080ti's mid tier gamers.

HODL!!! Should drop a whole bunch by June!

    • +2

by June 2050, for hodlers only.

      • Are you saying that GPU prices won't be a lot cheaper this June?

        That's a big call!

        • No it won't, RTX 3080 won't reach $100 by June, that's what other hodlers predicting.

These all just bunch of trolling from hodlers, waste of my time.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: haha you truly is a hodlers hater here

          • @[Deactivated]: Other hodlers?

Come on mate, no need to go to extremes to dig yourself out of a hole.
You know very well no one is predicting $100 for a RTX3080… that's just massive backpedaling on your behalf.

But there will be savings of at least double that between now (March) and then (June).

            • -1

@UFO: If I knew the bottom price of RTX 3080 before its sold out and replaced with 4080, I'd let you know.

              • @[Deactivated]: RTX 3080 10GB was $2200 only 2 months ago. $800 over that time is a massive drop.

                But don't hodl lol?
