I'm Being Charged for Amazon Free Expedited International Shipping

I'm a Prime member and today I've noticed that it doesn't matter what prime product I try purchase from Amazon US or UK, at the checkout I'm being charged for Expedited International Shipping when usually it's free. Products state free shipping, checkout states free shipping but the final checkout it adds delivery. I've been on the chats but cannot sort the issue. Is anyone else having the same problem?

This was the item I first noticed it in but have since checked other products and I'm getting charged delivery every time. My prime membership is current no issue there.

I'm actually after one of those so would be good if it was free shipping

Why would you sign up to complain here? Contact their support.

They have. "I've been on the chats but cannot sort the issue. Is anyone else having the same problem?"

OP is just trying to work out if it's a widespread issue which helps to rule out PEBKAC.

I'm not complaining, simply asking a question! I cannot sort the issue with Amazon support, I've tried over a dozen times. They reply along the lines of shipping method and carriers vary and this is why sometimes you may be charged delivery. I understand that but I've checked 30+ items, some I've purchased before and delivery now seems to be charged everytime, was wondering if it's just my account or something else. Yesterday there was no problem.

I've used ozbargain for years but never signed up

    • I agree, their customer service reps are brilliant via chat

          Do you need emergency services?

  • Definitely something broken there. Showing up with shipping charge too for me.

    • Same here, add to the cart with free shipping, then try to check out, adds international shipping

I've been on the chats but cannot sort the issue.

    Try their Facebook page www.facebook.com/Amazon

  • Wonder if this inflator is any good for 4wd tyres.

    Definitely cheaper than ARB compressor

    • ARB

not hard to get anything cheaper than ARB branded gear haha

Their Ascent canopies though..wow * italian chef kiss *

  • I get the same issue, It says it qualifies for Free shipping but at checkout only gives you two Paid options for shipping. Let us know if Amazon fix it for you.

  • I bought one locally 18 months ago. It was 79.95?

    • Any good?

      • Yes, I've used it to do 3 punctures at home so far. I had one puncture that was a slow leak, so it saved me stopping at the servo daily.

Amazon auto loads the most expensive freight cost and you then need to select free if applicable.

    • Its not giving a free option , although prior to checkout says it qualifies for free shipping

Prime international shipping is broken at the moment, I have exactly the same issue.

    • From Amazon :

      Sameera [C] | Customer service
I have forwarded this issue to the prime team. They will look into this.

  • Fuel costs too much..?

So they're passing on the fuel increase to customers?

Free Expedited International Shipping is for purchases over $69. This item is less than that. Did you order items along with it?

    • Yes "have since checked other products and I'm getting charged delivery every time".

      The issue is now fixed.

    • No minimum spend for Prime members at the moment - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/681686

    • $49 for free intl shipping. Bit at the moment, it's free anyway'

    All fixed now.

    • How was it fixed, so we all know?

We have absolutely no idea - Amazon don't make public posts about their incidents.

But I'm going to guess that they suddenly had 500+ Live Chats about broken Interrnational Prime Shipping this morning, and somebody in the back-end team noticed that their change from earlier today had broken it… Reverted change. Problem solved.

thanks. stocks low but one of these has been on my list for a while :)

  • Viewed the page it says free delivery for me

  • This was on my wishlist, and I've bought one - thanks OP for publicising the deal!

Now I wonder - would Bunnings have beaten it by 10%?

    • Different model no here for a start, so very very unlikely

  • Bunnings have what appears to be the same tool, cheaper, and with the best warranty in Australia.

    • Was $56 via Amazon yesterday, so not cheaper.

  • Every now and again I come across a quirk in the shipping. A few weeks ago was something from a third party seller in Amazon AU warehouse, prime eligible but only had the option for the non-free faster shipping method which cost more than the item.

Chat support couldn't figure out why it wasn't showing the normal free expedited shipping for me, so told me to buy and they manually refunded the shipping cost.

BTW, noticed the Aldi version of this inflator in the clearance rack the other day so check your local Aldi if you're in their battery ecosystem (probably a delayed product in WA which is why still a few floating around)

  • I had the same issue yesterday with a Prime order from the US. Contacted their support via a phone call and was told that I would get a refund of the shipping charges once the item shipped. I received shipping notification late yesterday, so waiting to see refund of shipping costs refunded. Must be an issue with the Amazon AU or US site as I was told there should be a selection choice at the Cart page for free Prime shipping, but nothing came up for me via mobile or different browsers.
