  • Loving these deals. So cheap!

  • Songkran is 13-15 April (Thai New Year)

    • Mask wearing & Songkran, sounds like fun.

      • +1

12.01 - puts on dry mask
        12.02 - mask is soaked

      • sounds like waterboarding

  • +2

Some of these seem incorrect. There are no Sydney to Bangkok flights on Jetstar

    • You're absolutely correct, well spotted. My script to save me time picked up all the Scoot flights via Singapore from SYD. Removed, thanks!

  • anyone booked through mytrip.com?

    • I know I'm the OP, but I've used them without issue, same with myholidays, but not kissandfly which seems to come up a bit.

    • +2

Used them before. If you only book and don’t require any change or any need to contact them, they are one of the cheapest.

But if you ever need to contact them, eg refund because of covid, good luck. Was a nightmare, no response to email, none of the numbers on the website worked. Ended up doing cc chargeback.

      • price is more expensive on the airlines site :( might bite the bullet here

      • 100% agreed, im in the middle of a transaction dispute with them

called them three times, each time it took ~60minutes to get to someone and after explaining the situation they'd just hang up on me

oh well, i got what i paid for

  • +1

Cheap prices vs Jetstar cancelling your flight at will due to schedule changes.

  • no sydney to bangkok?

    • Not on Jetstar, but Scoot does

      • Is it easy getting from Phuket to Pattaya?

        • No, easy from Bangkok though

        • You can find flights using skyscanner from HKT to UTP (eg. Bangkok Airways PG282) for less than $50.

  • Correct that this would be a pre departure PCR, PCR a couple of days after arrival, and then again before coming home? That adds up.

    • Any flights on non discriminatory airlines, basically anyone besides qantas/jetstar?

      • -1

Are you black or Jewish or something?

        • I am not able to be injected with substances related to covid 19.

          • -1

@Toomanyclicks: If you're not able to and have a medical certificate indicating a the medical reason, Jetstar/Qantas still flies you.

If you're choosing not to, well that's a different matter.

            • +1

@beatthatflight: yes i am not able to get the certificate, hence asking if there are deals or will be on other airlines. i have exemption to leave. needs to be singapore or thai etc

          • -1

@Toomanyclicks: Exempt people are classified as vaccinated by the government. You'll be fine. Unless you are comparing yourself to Jews fleeing Germany, that is.

            • +2

@belongsinforums: Why are you obsessed with Nazis? I cant get an exemption. Nobody can. I need to go somewhere i can work or even get a haircut.

              • -1

@Toomanyclicks: Medically exempt people get an exception. An antivaxxer i know compared his plight to the Jews and i guess that you're also an anti vaxxer or freedom convoyer

                • +1

@belongsinforums: You obviously don’t really know many people then. The doctors are NOT giving out exemptions. They tell you to get the jab at a hospital in case something happens. Is being an advocate for freedom a slur these days? Has our society really fallen so far? Sad. I can’t wait to be “allowed” to leave this dump island.

                  • @Toomanyclicks: Borders are open so you're free to leave buddy. Since you don't trust modern medicine, there's plenty of TCM in China if that's your thing

    • +1

No PCR required from Thailand to Sydney. Just a supervised RAT test (700baht) on Thai end before departure, and a self RAT test on the Aussie end upon arrival.

      • Can you do the supervised RAT at the airport?

        • +1

yes you can, around 900 baht, open 24/7 outside gate 3 Suvarnabhumi.

  • Hi
Has anyone been to Phuket or other areas of Thai recently. I have heard that there is a scam going around..where they basically put you as positive (even if you were negative on departure) and then you have to pay $400 a night for 7 nights.
Anyone know if this is true ? Or heard similar stories?

    • yes there are stories, its a roll of the dice as your insurance wont cover you unless you are symptomatic, ie have a high fever. not a bad earner to make up for lost revenue!

      • Yeah understand the country wants to recover but bloody hell.. now even the govt is part of the scam lol.. I will wait till 2023…
But just heard Iran bombed USA consulte in Iraq.. so let's see where 2022 takes us.

        • its more the hospitals connected to the hotels than the govt. and they wont give you a 2nd test.

    • Happening all the time there. Check out this guys vlog about the whole situation. He had to spend 10 night in quarantine and it cost him thousands

      https://youtu.be/ok68S-HxCzY

      • Off topic but why are YouTube beeping over the word Covid? I thought he was swearing or something at first.

    • My mate is in Thailand right now, didn’t face this

  • correct me if wrong. Thailand restrictions still, Pre-departure PCR, PCR on day 1, then RAT on day 5? If a test come positive you're under official quarantine (toast)?

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

Yes. PCR testing in Australia at airport is now $79. Test and go hotel package in Bangkok start from around $160 ($85 for PCR test, $5 for RAT test, $40 for airport pickup, $30 for room)

Prices are coming down, but that's already $240 extra just to get into Thailand. You'll need to pay for testing to get back into Australia too.

Make sure you have insurance that will pay for your quarantine if you test positive even if you aren't symptomatic.

      • +1

Testing to get back into Australia is only a supervised RAT test on the Thai end, roughly 700 baht at most hospitals/clinics. That's inclusive of the certificate too. Easier to get into Australia than Thailand at the moment!

  • anyone know any good overseas covid 19 travel insurance providers? i usually go with southern cross but theyre bit more expensive this time round

  • I thought the word doozie had negative connotations

  • Doing a pre departure test at the airport can be a disaster if you test positive, no time to cancel flights accommodation, Insurance, etc, there are some horror stories of people that have been caught, and then tested negative on the next day at a different clinic.
although these prices appear to be cheap on the surface, remember that it does not include luggage, meals etc, and their renowned ability to cancel without warning, leaves a lot to be desired, they need to get their act together and restore consumer confidence,
word has it that from July 1st thai will scrap Test and Go, eliminate pcr tests, and bin Thailand Pass, if you live in the southern states it would be deep winter and an ideal time to go.

  • Sorry for being ignorant, but is going through a third party genuinely cheaper or are they doing what google do and just get the cheapest flights and link them together?
