[NSW] Balgowlah Tennis Club Membership $120/Year ($10 Join Fee) Includes Social Doubles + Table Tennis/Robot + Court Hire

590

We are a small Tennis Club with 2 courts, but in a prime location in a park with Floodlights and friendly members of varying levels from Low Intermediate to Advanced, even Australian Ranked Juniors! Membership was a well kept secret, I have gotten permission to advertise as we need more Low Intermediate and up players for Saturday Social Tennis.

We are the same price, but I believe an even better value proposition with a new 25mm ITTF Approved Table Tennis, and a Huipang S8-Pro Table Tennis Robot for Members Social Sessions(Video in Table Tennis Tab). There is a $10 Key Deposit refundable upon return to access table tennis and clubhouse. After our successful recruiting drive last time, the Club Executive have authorised me to extend the $120 price till the end of 2022.

For comparison WTTC Fairfield to play socially during club hours only:
$438 per year, $50 a month or $10 for 3 hours with no Table Tennis robot.
Adding this to the $400 average price of Tennis Court Membership you are getting $838 of value for $120

"How is this a bargain? It is 3-5x cheaper than other Tennis Clubs in the area and prices are set to increase $20 to $140 a year in 2023. Also as Court Hire is $25/hr if you use the courts 5 hours in 1 year you will break even!
Ridge St Tennis World North Sydney: Adult: $600 a yr ($300/6months)
Bareena Tennis Club: Senior A: $380 + $130 joining fee
Chatswood Tennis Club: Seniors (18 and over) $354 p.a + Joining fee: $100
Collaroy Tennis Club: $300 (18+ years) + Joining fee: $100

How much does it cost?
$10 one off Joining fee
Adults: $120 per year with individual memberships $120 per year with initial joining fee $10
Juniors (under 18 years old): $60 per year.

Includes:
Floodlit courts for night play

Tell me more about this robot, is it more 3po or more R2?

    • +7

More R2, it whines and doesn't serve if you don't feed him properly.
Treated right, he can be the most loyal hitting partner you have ever had.

Out of context that sounds interesting

When he broke down, the shop told me "Lubricate Huipang S8-Pro" and he started working again

Does it heckle? Perhaps says "You suck" ?

Haha, an easy feature to add with Raspi, I might get it to remind me tips
          "Keep your wrists low"
          "Swing with your hips"
          "Prepare backswing for next shot"

          Too soon? Poor Osaka

I'm not in NSW, but this is a pretty good post.
Would 100% sign up if I was close.

  • Hmmm tempting. I'm in Neutral Bay, but the cost of playing around here is insane.

Yes we are a community club and not for profit so membership is cheaper, please ring the captain for a free social doubles tryout

  • Whats access like. Is it possible to get a slot especially when bunnings has the snags and chai lattes

    • The club is primarily looking for Low Intermediate+ people to play Saturday sessions, Monday and Wednesday if Intermediate+. If you do participate in social sessions, we are happy to let you join and access the court at Members Reserved and other times.

Table tennis is available anytime with $10 deposit for key.

      • Oh got it. So this is to play social, not court hire. Understood

        • Yes it includes court hire, but we may not accept members who join for court hire only without participating in social doubles.
You have to be graded at social doubles to join as there is a standard at the club.

Lol that was unnecessary. A yes would have sufficed.

But i guess it is Baalgoooowlaaah after all. I’ll wave from the bunnings as I’m scoffing down my snags.

@Vote for Pedro: I'm just trying to inform you or any other interested people. I am being honest about membership requirements, set by the club executive(not me), so people can make an informed decision.

A humble post! You get my upvote. Haters gonna say it's not a deal, but in my mind, given everywhere around the Northern Beaches is way more expensive, this is a deal, sort of. Thanks OP. Let me ask the boss if we have money to pay for the membership.

  • I have been looking for an affordable club to start with as I am just a newbie…
But I see you are looking for Low Intermediate+ players only? What if I am a beginner?

    • +1

Dragan's Tennis run coaching lessons here that you can attend till your are at that level. You can also get graded at social doubles if you are unsure and we can give some tips on what to work on.
Low Intermediate+ can hold a rally, serve and play doubles

  • It's a good deal, surprised you didn't exceed your target since the last post. Got me thinking about pushing TT in our club for the inevitable rain delays we get up here in Qld. Did you get a grant for your TT robot?

    • Table Tennis is a good idea for rainy days, it can replace a table in any clubhouse if space is limited
~800 website visits, We got a lot of calls about 20, 10 tried out and about 5 were suitable and joined up
No, I own the robot, the club will reimburse me if I want to sell it, not sure about grants sorry.

  • Know it well … played there a few times in my teenage years!

  • I haven’t lived in Balgowlah for two decades, but as a tennis-curious member of a table tennis club, this looks like an excellent deal.
