    Price in title

      • +3

        Are you trolling? Lol

      • +1

This was NPC level confusion right here.

  • +1

    Price?

    • Its not free.

  • +3

$4995 is the price (put in title) if you include the $1,000 gift card, which is a fantastic price. Reckon others will drop to the same level soon though as they are all trying to get rid of these models before the new tv's come out in a few months.

    • +21

$4995 is not the same as $5995 plus a $1000 gift card.

      • +1

At the end of the day you're still handing over $5995 to Senor Gerry.

      • You're not wrong, but subjectively some people who want other things from JB will take $1k as a 'free ride', of which there is 'some' value.

  • At first, I thought the LG 77" OLED C1 (2021) TV cost $1,000 I was going to buy buy buy but then I read you get a $1000 voucher and the price is missing in the title… sad…

Seems this same TV sells for US$2799 in the USA (Costco) and they bundle it with a 5-year warranty, $100 streaming service credit as well as free shipping (seems HN might be free shipping as well which is at least good)…
Even if adding in GST and converting our local price still seems a little high for just a base unit with no additional warranty, streaming credit or freight…
    - USD$2799 = AU$3899 + 10% (GST) = AU$4,289 I think the price will continue to drop in the future and be below $4k in the coming months when the new model is released…

    • Does the $2799 price in the states include tax?

      • Also, we have duty on imports.. Unless business are exempt?

      • I don't believe US list local taxes as they have a more complex tax system than us (Eg, federal, sate and local)… some places have little other locations that have more..etc.. Thats why I added the 10% GST ontop of the listed price as that would essentially be the tax ontop of the price listed…

Also as far as I know TV's into Australia do not incur a duty charge but do GST obviously…

    • +2

With very limited or no stock available Australia wide they have no incentive to drop prices further.

      • Hece why I say I think if you want a while I think this TV could be had for under $4K especially so as the new model is due soon as well…

        • Lol doubtful… new models are almost out and stock is in short supply probably the last remaining stock around but wishful thinking

          • @solidussnake: Message from "dynamike" below:
            - VP from $5,390 on 19 Feb to $5,150 plus $300 Giftcard now
            - Appliance Central from $5,250 in early Feb to $5,150 in late Feb to $5,050 today

            I see a trend… hahahah

But I do agree with you with Shenzhen and other locations now going back into lockdown around the world the changes of prices dropping is getting slimmer… however, if things were improving as they were 2 weeks ago I recon it definitely would be under the $4K mark in a matter of months after the new model was posted… Did not realise Covid was causing so many issues overseas still until I just checked… Korea, China, Vietnam, Germany..etc.. all getting slammed big time in the last week… not looking good…

  • +24

$5050 delivered unless HN can match that + GC, why bother

      • +27

you are paying $945 more to be stuck with a GC?

        • Ah fair enough - i'm currently moving houses so $55 off total would help as I need to grab a few utilities, so I would have definitely used it, but I can understand it won't be for everyone - my mistake.

      • +2

How is it $55 cheaper, it's 5,995. Unless you show me local woolies or BP that can accept HN giftcard as payment

        • BP. Rofl. Not worth the pemium.

          • @justtoreply: What car do you drive

            • +1

@djmm: Wouldnt change the answer. BP is more expensive for all fuel types.

    • Not bad. Perhaps JB-Hifi could price match it.

      • +4

best would be to show HN that & see how much you can bring them down & have the bonus of the GC, otherwise yeah JB ,TGG should match it

        • +3

I showed HN a HN receipt and they wouldn't remotely entertain price matching (SA Gepps Cross store). Worst customer service ever, mentioned price and salesman just kept saying 'get a Sony', before 'I've got other customers so I'm going now'. No effort to negotiate at all. Walked over to GG, they offered me a good price, done deal.

          • @pakkapie: Had a similar experience when I asked to see the 83", was flat out rude and condescending like he had to 1up me in front of his other colleagues standing around doing nothing. Great stuff idiots, you had one job 'sales'man.

          • @pakkapie: We managed to get HN to price match a GG price. We only went to HN because we had a discount gift card voucher. The sales guy came up with all sorts of excuses. He said he needed to talk to the manager, and didn’t. He said “how about we meet mid way”; I said “how about we don’t”. In the end he said because we were a repeat customers he would do it. If I didn’t have the gift cards I would’ve gone GG instead.

    • +2

"This product is not available for delivery to the area you selected!"

      Damn, anything to avoid HN.

  • +2

$300 gift card brings it down to $4950 at video pro. If you value gift card. Not sure about delivery, even though it says free - might need verifying

    • Personally, no idea what I'd do with the GC anyway.

  • "Bonus Local Delivery until 16/3!" … Score free delivery if purchased today! You might want to screenshot that in the odd event they claim it's not included!

  • Looked at title, brain translated it to "LG 77" OLED C1 (2021) TV $1000!!!" -_-

  • I believe these will drop further as 2022 OLEDs are due for release shortly.

  • Should I get this or wait for the C2? It would be more expensive but I believe it will be brighter with newer panels.

  • Keep missing while waiting. But now and worry later.

    Recent price drops:

VP from $5,390 on 19 Feb to $5,150 plus $300 Giftcard
Appliance Central from $5,250 in early Feb to $5,150 in late Feb to $5,050 today

HN, GG and JB have been going back and forth from 6k to 7k in recent weeks.
HN now on $6k with $1k gift card kicking off the discount bonanza

GG and JB awaiting stock any day now which will then have them compete with the above offers

  • I couldn't sit in front of a tv knowing I paid $6k lol

    • +5

It's funny how some people will pay $50,000 or more on a car that they may use for a couple of hours a week, yet will not spend $6,000 on a TV that they may spend around 8 hours a day watching. Different strokes for different folks I reckon.

      • -4

I just paid $60K for a new car, business vehicle so a write off. If you have 8 hours spare a day to watch tv i'd be worried lol.

        • +7

That's not how a write off works, David. That car still cost you net 40k.

          • +3

@a22andrew: I love the tax excuses to buy things. Lose a dollar to save 30 cents of tax.

            • +2

              @icarus255: It's a WRITE OFF!

            • -3

@icarus255: Not a exuse it earns me $500k a year lol

          • @a22andrew: Yep and swap every 5 years, it's pittance for what I turnover and Km's I do. GST back as well.

            • @[Deactivated]: We know, mate, many of us do it. Just a a funny episode from Schitt's Creek that ties in nicely.

              • +1

@a22andrew: no worries, never watched it.

      • wow 8 hours a day watching TV. Would love that too.

      • 8 hours a day watching TV… man I'm doing it wrong clearly… If I get 8 hours a week that's a lot, most weeks it's '0' (granted I do use the computer screen when I get some spare time)…

      • +3

I wear a pair of shoes for more than 8 hours a day but I'm not paying $6,000 for shoes any time soon.

Still not as good as this deal but worth heading in store and negotiate I guess. I just snagged the 83C1 last week for $6.6k from TGG just by asking if they can match ApplianceCentral’s pricing late last year. I did ask for best price initially and the best they can do from $7995 retail pricing was $7.3k. No harm asking!

  • Are these that much better than the TVs in the 2 to 3000 price range?

When I was at JB a lot of those TVs looked amazing to me, tho. I couldn't really tell the difference between 2k and 3k picture quality.

    • +1

They are definitely better quality. This is probably the best TV you can buy from 2021.
The better question is, what's the better quality worth to you?

      • Fair enough, but his much better? Double the price better or 20%?

5-6k is a bit much for me, tho I'm looking at 4-5k fridges but less options.

  • does the LG software have mandatory advertising in the menu like the Samsung does?

    • Yes but I think you can block it out with DNS settings

  • I bought this for $5.3K from Harvey Norman as a price match on a video pro deal a few weeks ago. The gift card is nice but I don't normally buy stuff at HN.

  • +1

For those saying the price will drop further, it's unlikely, Inflation is currently at one of the highest rates in years and with the geopolitical messes going on factory shutdowns in China many electronic prices will continue to go up and less stock availability as well as increased transport costs.

    • With the LG OLED G2 series in sizes from 42" to 97" soon to be released bring on the current 83" specials.

  • Anybody from NSW selling the $1k gift card? Need it tomorrow. Happy if it's 10% off.
