  • Should I or wait a bit more.
I’m aiming for price tag to go down to $2,750.

    • +2

Stock is low you either wait or it's gone and only display models are left. It's a tricky question

    • Yeah I don't understand it I've been waiting since November for a deal but no dice. It has been $2,740 before: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/665848

      I'm wanting the G1 at $3,330

      • +6

I can't justify paying hundreds more for a TV that is over a year old that was cheaper around 6 months ago tbh. Even if it is technically still a 'deal' I couldn't live with it and would never be happy. I would rather wait another year than pay more for an old model TV than what it was selling last year.

        • +23

Sounds like you'll never buy a tv with that attitude, you knew it was a great deal back then still decided not to buy and now going to wait a other year ??

I got my 77C1 for $5450 and it went as low as $47xx (4 months later)I couldn't care I've got my money's worth and with many years to come

          • -3

@solidussnake: OK to go through it

            1) I had money in November but the G1 never came back down to the price in October (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/656871) here is me commenting in December saying I was still waiting which I still am (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11540260/redir).

            2) $3k+ is a lot of money (for me) and when I buy that TV I want to feel good about it, I'm the kind of person who will look at a purchase I made and think about how much it cost and whether I felt like I got it as a deal. I can't live with paying $600-700 more for a TV that is 12+ months old than what it was last year, that's all. Some people have a different philosophy but I'll wait until next gen if that's what it takes

            • @juzz0: Firstly, get the C1 if you can’t get the G1. It will still blow your socks off and you really only be paying $200-$300 more than the best price if you buy now.

Why do you want the G1?

I think even if you don’t get the best deal on a C1 or G1 you’ll still look at everyday in amazement and forget about the extra you paid.

              • +1

@bargaineer: This. I waited ages and no deals came up like September/boxing day, so pulled the trigger @ $2999.

@juzzo I'm exactly like you, but got sick of waiting. Covid is slowing down stock and deals, and I expect the C1/C2 and co will go up before down for a while yet.

Not a single day goes by that I regret paying a fee $100 more. I'm in SA too, whereas most of the <=$2750 deals I couldn't get. Also it's huge and wouldn't fit in my Kluger, so factor delivery.

I'd say bite the bullet and get the C1.

            • @juzz0: Look up price protection credit cards

        • +1

Black and white CRT TVs have never been cheaper.

      • Not the lowest price, it's been $2,695 before: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/674102 (albeit Sydney only). Still provides a good guide as to what rock-bottom pricing looks like. I would've thought EOL clearance pricing would be similar.

        • +3

Doesn't need to be cheaper if there is zero stock

    • +1

How annoying would you be if you missed out due to them running out of stock?

These questions are always tricky to answer… If it were me, I would just bite the bullet and be happy to have the peace of mind.

If you’re happy to take the risk, then perhaps worthwhile taking a punt and waiting. If not, then I’d suggest just pulling the trigger now. Perhaps buying some discounted gift cards and getting a few more dollars off could get you over the line in terms of making a decision.

      • +1

is stock really running low, though? I doubt it. They are probably being more careful about preserving a floor price on these OLEDs.

I reckon that there will be warehouses full of these C1s and panels, in China and Korea.

        • +2

The new models are almost out, if they had plenty of stock it would of been a boxing Day special.. retailers know when stuff is going EOL and know how to clear so they're not stuck with expensive surplus to sell at a loss. I spent 5 years selling TVs at JB and it's always been the case

      • +1

My gut feeling says Binglee would throw the last straw at ebay special.

    • Why wait? Go into some other retailers and get them to offer that price…

      • That rock bottom price was partially funded by a back end rebate from LG.

    • If $245 is a deal breaker then maybe you shouldn't be spending close to $3k on a TV

      • +9

Don’t judge this. Everyone wants the best deal and that’s why we’re here reading this.

        • The best deals were black friday specials so if you didn't buy then your unlikely to buy when it's EOL..

        • Understand but as others have said, just buy it and enjoy.

When you're watching a movie and enjoying the quality, you're not going to be thinking about the extra $245 you paid vs a deal that occurred months ago.

          • +2

@abc12345: No, you don't get to dictate what others do with their money, and if $245 is a deal breaker, you possibly have zero empathy for other's situation and how they manage to purchase high ticket items.
Not everyone can afford high end TVs, that $245 is possibly too much for some, so my advice, mind your own business.

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: Lol, yeah so much dictating in my post. That time of the month?

Thanks though, you just reiterated my first point.

If $245 is a deal breaker then dropping almost $3k on a TV probably isn't a good idea.

              • @abc12345: Again it is none of your business how people spend their money, you think people don't have budgets? So yes $245 can be the difference of one wanting something and not needing it.
I never reiterated anything, you're just emphasizing your own false narrative to drive an agenda of other people's spending habits.
Again, people can spend their money anyway they wish and it is none of your business.

                • @[Deactivated]: Seriously, you need to chill and let it go.

Why are you getting so bent out of shape over some ozbargain comments? Is life that boring for you?

                  • @abc12345: Seems you're the one bent out of shape, concerning yourself with other people's spending habits.
People can spend how ever they want, their budgets are of no concern to you.

      price match with jb

      5% off giftcards
      2745.5

      • 5% off gift cards from where?

    • If you don't buy, you'll be waiting on a LG 65" G1 OLED to reduce. It is currently $3860 with GG commercial. I'd go the C1 for $2995 tbh.

    • LG releases new models every year around March-April (mainly April). If you are interested in C1, G1 models I would highly suggest to wait little more. You should be able to get your dream price (or even better after new models released)

  • Nice! Thanks for the post.

77” not (yet) on sale ☹️

  • OMG I can't afford three of these for my sim rig… Divorce or full emersion?

      Doesn’t full immersion = divorce?

$2890 Delivered for Metro @ Appliance Central might be a better choice for some (or could match at JB also).

    • +1

      Thanks update post 👍

    • +1

Highly recommend Appliance Central. I ordered a 65" NeoQLED the other week. Ordered Wed night late, delivered Friday lunch (Syd)

  • Anyone else think 65 is too small? The minimum I'd go is 75 if I was buying today

    • I went from a Samsung 55” still have it to a Sony X9000 65”, sit 2.5-3m and is good, maybe when a good brand 75” drops to around $2k might get one.
75” is a bit average if you watch a but of free to air.

    • Really, really depends on the size of the room it's going In. A telly that's too big for the distance to the chairs is a lesson in eye strain. Loads of guides online to help you match the best choices.

Im flogging my 65,looking for a 55. I've got a relatively small room though.

  • +5

I think I paid $2900 six months ago and I’d pay it again every day of the week

    • I got a 65" Sony A90J Master series for $2200 on a pricing error…I assume it was mistaken for the X90J LCD…now I'd pay that any day of the week..LMFAO

  • Looking at the 55". Can we expect much of a price drop before/around the time the C2 comes out?

    • The Myer deal with Cashrewards not long ago brought down to sub $2k. I'm waiting for similar again since Myer didn't deliver to regional.

  • -6

Anything larger than 90"? Anything smaller would be too small for my living room

  • Been reviewing this and the Sony xr65A80J, and the Sony came out on top, but prices are still 3.5K, anyone in the know of about whether Sony prices will drop?

    • +1

cheapest was $2795 from good guys ebay. Im looking at the G1 for low 3s decisions

    • I found firectly negotiating with the store resulted in much lower prices than advertised on Blasck Fri.

  • +1

See now I’m at that point where I feel I may as well wait for July sales for the C2.

    • I am of the same opinion. Waiting on the EOFY sales for C2 77, even if its only down to 5500-6000, just going to bite. Have been waiting since CX.

  • Perfect timing. My 7 year old Sony Bravia just died (Main board failure). It only had 6000 panel hours on it, expected at least a few more years, but oh well, time to fully utilize my Series X!

    • I finally bought myself a new oled c1 after 18 years… of some old panasonic plasma tv. half the screen just shit itself

      • Honestly. I have no issues with watching TV with standard 1080p. I would be so happy to have a tv last that long.

had 2 die so far. a 10 year old LG LED (first of the LED range back in the day), and the one mentioned above.
Meanwhile i have some shitty ass no name (MAG) branded 18" monitor that stays turned on 24/7 for my security cameras, going on 19 years now.

  • I'm considering the extended warranty for the burn in. anybody have experience? clerk at JB said its covered.

    • +1

I think it's very hard to get burn in on these TVs. From my experience the tv goes into screensaver mode after a few minutes of no screen movement (i.e. pausing a movie) which gives me a huge amount of relief.

  • Has anyone wall mounted their C1? Does it look nice and how flush to the wall can you get?

Afaik, the G1 was supposed to compete with Samsung’s Frame series in terms of flushness

    • I have the 77" its a bit of a thick boi, not super flush. My 65 G1 its super flat and nice in comparison but cant beat 77" plus the price premium for G1 hurts

      • 65 G1 $4k
        77 G1 $7k
        77 C1 $6k

Tv’s are still such a rip

What are your viewing distances? I’m looking at 3m so am thinking 65” should be enough?

      • +1

I got the 77 G1 for about 6500 from Harvey Norman a few months ago and i must say it does sit very nice and flush on the wall.

      • What are the main differences you notice between the C1 va G1 besides thickness?

        • +1

From memory it had up to 20% improved peak brightness also

  • -2

my mate got this for 2450, 3k is too exy

  • annecdote take it how you will

I just rang around a few Sydney stores… Complete disinterest in bargaining … Floor display stock only and freely said new model next week expecting pricing around 5k …. I assume results may vary but if you can find one it's probably this price…

  • this probably cant live in living rooms with direct sunlight….think north facing balcony?…..

    • If TV is on wall opposite windows/door then definitely a 'no'. If on a perpendickular wall, then maybe…..?

  • +5

$2,798 on ebay with 5% discount code PLUSMAR5:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-OLED65C1PTB-C1-65-Inch-OLED-4…

  • I got the CX 65 inch 12 months ago on run out for 3k.

The C1 is basically the same thing. Fantastic TV.

  • Been wanting to get an A80J since I heard it was slightly better but prices aren't going down for it. Should I just go for the C1?

    • Can get this for juts on 3060 in 65

    • got the a80j 65 for 2700

  • Just purchased one, chap said there is heaps of stock in warehouse. Hold out if you want but not really much difference for me 100-200 dollars.

  • Anyone on the fence for an OLED just get it. You won’t be disappointed.

    • uetecu, do you have a C1? If so, can you confirm if you can install Kodi from the app stall?

  • Can the box fit in a mid sized suv (Cx-5, Rav4 etc)?

  • LG direct has had the 65 C1 for ~$3k and the 77 C1 for around ~$5K in the last week or two prior.

any word on whether the upcoming new C2 model has a gigabit LAN port? im also pretty interested in the C2 having that network mirroring feature.

trying to weigh it up. i know its a pretty minor use case, but my home networks still heavily cabled and it kinda rubs me the wrong way a $3k+ TV only has 10/100 ethernet.

    • Interesting, what can be done with the network mirroring? What's the use case I mean

      • i have a small place but line of sight is broken up pretty well & i often move between the home office slash gaming pc which the new 42"/48" C2's are looking great for, & the loungeroom home theater. you could easily have bluetooth controllers or kb/mouses controlling anything anywhere, or if you just like to have synced media playing in the background a lot. the ability to just mirror the screens on any other set with the new LG's for whatever you're doing out of the box sounds kinda useful.

  • Jb Hi-Fi price matched Videopro and reduced price to $2,821 ($2,880 less $59 as Videopro offering free delivery)

Used discounted gift cards to bring it down to $2,679.95 with C&C option.

    • Thanks for that. But confused as to how JB takes another $59 off?

      • +1

Because Videopro price included free delivery so JB offered 2,821+59 to match the price. However in the online link provided you can choose between delivery or click&collect

        • Can you put a coupon code on the same online link? (I know jb use a separate page for price matched orders, but never took note to see if there was a coupon code section)
Looking at combining the price match with this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/689209

          • +1

@mindurbiz: The link has already expired but from memory there’s a placeholder to add a coupon as well as the gift card

            • +1

@cker: Just called up and got the link, you are able to add the code!!! Extra 5% off and you don't have to use Afterpay

  • Another way to get reduced price for a new TV is find who LG uses as 3PL to store and distribute their products. (Check the delivery label on the box at the store) Hopefully one of your mates/acquaintance work or know someone there and hopefully get a decent discount for a new tv with a damaged carton. You still get a substantial discount. Have been lucky this way! 😇.

  • Finally, I pulled the trigger at $2,725 (with ebay giftcards discounted).
Do I need a streamer device like Apple TV or Google tv, or is WebOs good enough?

    • It's both built in as well as all the major apps 👍
