  • Thanks, I'll be getting one for my bf.

  • Got myself one this morning. Staff didn't know about offer.

  • Did you get to choose your t-shirt? Good range?

    • They were the T's they were selling at the front of the store. I think 6
colours. Picked the colour and size I wanted, as if I was buying it, with assistance
from a staff member. Noticed I got a receipt as well $29.95 less $29.95. plus bag.

  • I got a blue mens t-shirt for my bf, there were a selection of colours. The t-shirts came in black, grey, red, blue, green & white.

They even offered me a choice from the ladies t-shirts.

    • Same here. The store I went to had them reduced from $29.95 to $23.95.. they had never heard of this promotion and had to call someone to 'check'.

      Hehe.

      • Can you tell me which store you went to?

        • Yep, Forest Hill Victoria.

  • i just got mine too (City Cross in Adelaide) - easy as. they hadnt seen it but honoured it without question. thanks

  • whats to stop someone from going to different stores and getting multiple ones? do they check id.

    • if you LIE and put out different names on the sheet, then sure you can get as many as you want. In the end it all comes down to morals. Yeah, sure, if you want more than one go for it, i doubt anyone will stop you.

and NO they dont check ID's

      • However, I think you might find if they suspect people are falsely
claiming T-shirts they might start checking ID's.

FJ's are very generously giving out $30 T's to get people onto their mail system.
I don't think we should abuse this offer.

Maybe some people should have a look at the definition of stealing.

  • can u get a ladies t??

  • ^ Yes, there are ladies t-shirts available to choose from.

  • I went to the Geelong store. They said they only give away the mens "Bull" design shirt. $29.95 in either black or beige. They also told us they were supposed to try and get us to buy something. We did look around but everything was so expensive. She guilted us a lot but we stayed firm that we were entitled to the free shirt and eventually got out of there with a shirt.

    Still great for free though…

I think what you get depends on store to store.

  • I'd just like to say, this offer was listed by "What's On Sale". Does anyone remember the Pashmina from gorgeous clothing company Biscote earlier this year? Well, that was meant to be a WOS-only offer, but it got out, and all heck broke loose!

I am joined with WOS and got the email this morning, went to my local FJ today and got my T-shirt before the offer gets pulled, but when the guy scanned the barcode, it does come up as a "What's On Sale?" offer.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is … if you take advantage of this offer, and you're NOT already subscribed to WOS, then PLEASE JOIN using a legitimate email addy, because I think this was MEANT to be a members-only thing, and ideally please join using the email addy that you put on the Fletcher Jones printout, in case they cross-check t-shirt requests against WOS memberships.

And heck, if you were a WOS member, you would have known about this offer, and the pashmina one, and more … FIRST! So it's in your interest to join!

(I'll get off my soapbox now!)

    • Ozfree - now you have come off your soapbox, something to consider.

The email you refer to has nothing about this being an exclusive offer, so there will be no cross checking. If it did then I would have either

      1. mentioned it.
      2. not posted it
      3. posted that if you wanted the offer you must join WOS

Not only that but I joined WOS after seeing an google ad on Ozbargain.

All bargains posted here come from somewhere, its just one site to share them. Cross posting of deals goes on from everywhere. Some like Myerone exclusive mailings, Rivers Frequent member mailings and so on (as you would know yourself).

You said about the Pashmina offer, being meant to be exclusive for WOS. Then they would have learnt from that and put an exclusivity clause in their email. but they didn't so guess what? that means its not. The WOS mailing wasn't "targeted" to certain members eg females or males

Furthermore the signup page http://www.fletcherjones.com.au/images/fj_tshirt.pdf has again no reference to WOS, nor does the signup itself - ie that email must be the same, or name, etc. It's a marketing department's dream come true to have this cross posted - likewise WOS can show how successful their mailings are.

BTW while on the soapbox, I'd like to ask why those above who got a TShirt - say this is a great offer, but fail to vote - to show some sort of appreciation for the find. (Now as a mod I choose not to accept any prize offered here- but like others here who bother to post a show of appreciation is encouraging)

Next inline .. the soapbox is yours and yes it's ok to wear your T shirt here.

      • Yes, but when the staff scan the voucher, it comes up as a WOS offer, NOT just a FJ offer. And we give our email addresses on the FJ form.

I don't know if they (WOS) stuffed up or not on this one. They DID stuff up with the Biscote thing. You say "they would have learned". I say "if they stuffed up once, why not again?". I also say, just because they may have made a mistake, doesn't make it right to take advantage of it. Makes it POSSIBLE, sure, but not necessarily RIGHT.

Thing is, this is a "What's on Sale" offer. Not just that it was listed there first - it's THEIR offer, in partnership with FJ. So for heaven's sake, do them the credit of mentioning them in your posting, and if you're NOT with WOS, then join.

You think it's unreasonable for me to suggest that other people who take advantage of the offer also sign up for the FREE newsletter that originated this deal, which will let them know about more FREE offers, then fine! But if we ALL abuse this offer without paying dues, then maybe there won't BE any more offers from the WOS guys.

        • Ozfree

I guess we have different opinions, and viv la difference. Thats what makes this site .

I guess you are closer to this deal than most others as you know what comes up on the POS within the store and I don't.

But in fairness I'd like you to consider the following.

I didn't say it was unreasonable to suggest others sign up with WOS. I just don't agree that this offer is exclusive. The form itself is generic. And what if I told a friend or two or three is that allowed?? Maybe you have contacts with WOS that tell you otherwise as you indicate you think its another stuff up.

As for credit to where it came from, thats never been a requirement here, or on other sites, so I haven't mentioned it. Just like some of your past posts. And again I didn't have anything to indicate it was a WOS exclusive as I mentioned before.

For email addresses, because of SPAM etc I have some for sites like WOS where initially I am unsure of who they are and others for businesses and another for personal email, so the email address may never match.

I also cant see how its abuse of this offer. Its available to anyone, otherwise FJ would have not published it. Also its available on many other sites like BS WP and others.

If WOS aren't happy about their deals being cross posted then have them contact Scotty who can make a ruling which we can abide by. That's better that you fighting on their behalf, when they may not be unhappy at all, unless you have some inside knowledge.

If you want to continue this please create a general message in the forums so it can be discussed in depth there with whoever wants to participate.

      • When I picked up my free tee the lady did ask about the "What's on Sale" and I had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. I said "Uh, I found the offer on a website which linked to that one.." even though it doesn't. Bit awkward for a minute as she kept talking about WOS but I got the impression I needed to be a member of them or I should have found the link from them too.

She told me they'd given out 2 that day (Wollongong). I had a nice freebie day, got a free 7/11 lunch (although it's now expired) and a free T-Shirt :)

    • Never heard of "Whats on Sale" before reading your post. Will go and check it out. Thanks

  • Thanks Ozpete, I got one today.

  • Ozpete - I'd just like to respond to your question re: the show of appreciation and people who haven't voted.

I only signed up as a member a week or so ago. I got the free t-shirt but didn't vote or comment above. I can understand the reasons for commenting; people can show appreciation for the deal, discuss it in detail, any problems that have been encountered, etc.

I don't understand the purpose of the voting. The number of votes next to a deal does not really help me in any way - I just ignore it and read the actual details of the deal.

Perhaps I am missing something, but I don't really understand why the voting system exists. It would appear that the original intent might have been something along the lines of "the higher the number of votes, the better the deal" but you only have to look down todays newest deals to see that this is not the case.

    Just my opinion, cheers

    • Social voting is part of why Web 2.0 sites such as this one, Digg, and Reddit thrive. It's up to users to submit content and it's up to users to sort out which are good deals and which are bad. On Digg, there are items submitted every second making it impossible to read every submission. Instead, you can just view the content most voted on.

Now on the scale of Ozbargain, you get to see almost every deal that comes through. A better reflection of the voting would be to look at the Popular Deals page which shows the best deals in the past month (or longer).

    • Clandestino

Firstly - its not that big a deal (thats why its appended to my soapbox rather than being the main theme) but I do thank you for your explanation.

Voting is a way of highlighting a deal so it becomes more visible, (see top deals section on your page) so everyone can quickly recognise a good deal. Its also easier for people to say thanks rather than having numerous posts saying the same thing, so then informative comments are easier to read for others.

For others it can also mean qualification for a weekly prize. This competition and reward is meant to encourage postings of bargains from which everyone can benefit. (as a moderator I don't like to take the prize and I just enjoy sharing the bargains I find.)

Likewise negative voting - an option which comes to you over time, is to highlight to others that there maybe some issue with the post - from being a scam to having unreasonable conditions attached, or there is an issue with the product. In most cases this is used sparingly.

Enjoy you stay, also look at the forums there is some good info and discussions there. Welcome aboard, hope you might find a bargain or two you can share with us.

  • Thanks for the replies, neil and ozpete!
Now, hopefully I can find a few bargains to add to the site…

    regards

  • Got my shirt from FJs George Street. Maybe cos it's so central, there were like…10 shirts left. I was directed by this unsmiling old salesperson to the basic Bull shirts only — they were only available in XL and above (red, white, grey, black, beige), so I got one for my boyfriend. Couldn't see the ladies' shirts, and felt a bit intimidated, haha. Could feel the salesperson peering at us but he scanned the barcode and it went through fine, bag and receipt. :)

And yeah, the page is posted online, after all — if they'd wanted it members' only they would have said, is what I think. XD

  • Got my free shirt from the Fletcher Jones in Brisbane at the Myer Center. I got the last Medium shirt, everything else is L or XL. The shirt is nice :)

  • Also went into the George St store yesterday, and found the same size-wise (XL and above). Figured it would be a waste getting one just because it was free, so left the store still holding my filled-in voucher…

  • Got my free t-shirt from the Knox store today. Choice of 3 colours. Decent quality. Great freebie

  • yeah, i think this is one of the best freebies i have seen in a long time, a 30 dolla good quality tee shirt, with no advertising bull. Thanks a heap OzPete

  • got my t-shirt yesterday at DFO - spencer st, 6 colors to choose from, nice lady at the store.

  • Got a white one today, 100% cotton love it! Nice find & Thanks OZpete + 8)

  • got mine from colonades store, didnt give me the 3rd degree but she did question my details (all fake!) and asked about my dodgeit.com email address haha! thanks for the free tshirt!

  • AWESOME BARGAIN - the lady at the Moonee Ponds store was so friendly today, she let me choose from the range of women's T-Shirts , no questions asked i walked out with a $49.95 t-shirt.

i did use legitimate details, its only fair that for a t-shirt i receive the occasional advertisement flyer.

One of the best deals ever posted on this site
